Nah Johan will throw one...just won't get the win since the Mets will lose 1-0 in the 10th

Evil Vito 04-22-2010 12:14 AM

The fact that the Mets have never had one with the pitching they've had is really baffling. Seaver took it to at least the 8th like 6 times as a Met, then finally threw one as a Red.

Every team could probably have a curse associated with them...with the Mets, it's the curse of Nolan Ryan.

Skippord 04-22-2010 12:22 AM

I'm positive Ubaldo Jimenez wouldn't care but I'm pretty happy that no hitter got broken up

Ironic part is that has occurred in MLB history before and ended up being a perfect game for the winning pitcher and a no hitter for the losing pitcher.

Splaya 04-22-2010 01:22 AM

Suck it Brian Fuentes

SammyG 04-22-2010 02:13 AM

DODDGERS. Jesus Christ, everyone is hitting so good right now. Best batting average in the majors, .302. Plus 5 guys hitting over .320. Our pitching is god awful though.

when did this happen? I thought the closest to something like that was Vaughn and Toney around the 1910's. Both threw no no's after 9 and Vaughn lost it and the game in the 10th

ClockShot 04-22-2010 06:30 AM

Man, Hughes K's 10 and was going for the no-hitter on the west coast. All the while I was sleeping. That sucks.

IMHO we should not trade for Crawford. There isn't much of a real need to right now. I don't want to trade a great package for Carl Crawford. If he hits FA. Then by all means throw him a contract. But, for right now we should not throw everything we have at Tampa for Crawford.

I know how you feel dude. I fell asleep before the game and woke up at like 1:30 AM and saw he pitched 8 shut out innings. I was pissed.

Triple Naitch 04-22-2010 09:50 AM

He'll be a free agent after this year and will 99% not return to Tampa.

RP 04-22-2010 09:52 AM

Zambrano to the bullpen? OK. I guess.

YOUR Hero 04-22-2010 10:06 AM

I really expected to come home and see "DAVE TREMBLEY FIRED" but apparently he's getting the vote of confidence from Angelos.

2-14 so far which is, as they say early in the season, on pace to break the Cleveland spiders 20 win season back in 1899 in terms of winning %.

In fact, since 7/1/09, the Orioles are a whopping 31-70.

Evil Vito 04-22-2010 04:45 PM

Brewers win 20-0 over the Pirates. Ouch.

Wikipedia used to have the whole list of no-hitters and perfect games in a nice organized list but I believe the game did in fact go into extra innings and either an error or a few walks was the difference between the winning and losing pitcher. Its defiantly in the earlier years of baseball though (pre-1950s).

Evil Vito 04-22-2010 10:29 PM

Nice, K-Rod gets 5 outs for his first save of the year. His first 5-out save since 2005.

More importantly, the Mets win their first series of the year. :y:

Carlos Silva is 2-0 with a 0.95 ERA. I'm not going to let my self get excited about this. Might be a trap.

Evil Vito 04-23-2010 09:10 AM

I think Maine's rotation spot could be on the line today. If he sucks it up Dillon Gee might be getting the call, he's like the polar opposite of Maine.

With the way the rotation is currently set, I'll be seeing Maine pitch next week when I go. :(

Triple Naitch 04-23-2010 09:44 AM

Wow, can't believe how bad Jake Peavy has been this year. Thought for sure that he was gonna be dominant this year.

 the dance off and the "wrestling match"

Evil Vito 04-24-2010 09:42 AM

Ike Davis

The rotation has held up pretty well thus far...I'm just a bit worried the pen is going to be overtaxed due to the starters' inability to go deep into ballgames even when pitching well. They have like 4 guys on pace for 80+ appearances. Fernando Nieve's already been in over 10 games.

Cooler Tom Schuler 04-24-2010 09:58 AM

The Twins are now 11-1 when I don't watch, 1-4 when I do.

LOL,

Seems to me when I watch the Jays they crap out. Hate that feeling.

Boomer 04-24-2010 03:17 PM

The Braves offense is currently in one of the worst states I have ever seen. We've had tons of come-from-behind wins, and we are walking shitloads, but that is it. McLouth and Escobar and Diaz are too good to be sucking this bad this long.

Melky just sucks.

Evil Vito 04-24-2010 05:03 PM

Mets are on a bit of a hot streak now, I like it. Reyes and Bay have really got it going.

Wright has looked terrible. He keeps changing his batting stance. I really dunno WTF is wrong with him but it's kinda disturbing how inconsistent his hitting has looked.

ClockShot 04-24-2010 06:28 PM

Frankie Cervelli rockin' The Great Gazoo batting helmet today.

Evil Vito 04-24-2010 09:16 PM

According to Peter Gammons...Joe Girardi and Charlie Manuel will each be allowed to select a utility player for the All-Star Game.

That's awesome. Those guys aren't meant to be superstars who play every day, they're supposed to be decent at several positions and be a solid stopgap. Glad they're getting recognized.

Is it related in any way to him being hit in the head last year by a pitch since when it occurs with pitchers, they tend to change their whole style during the season or the next season (ex. Matt Clement on Red Sox) ?

Would be a mental change than a hitting or batting change though.

Droford 04-24-2010 10:20 PM

Os get 17 hits and still lose 7-6.

2-16

Droford 04-25-2010 05:20 PM

Orioles get 15 hits and win 7-6!

OS WIN! HOLY CRAP

Boomer 04-25-2010 07:07 PM

Troy Glaus – .175/.254/.298
Yunel Escobar – .192/.275/.242
Melky Cabrera – .143/.250/.179
Nate McLouth – .150/.300/.250
Matt Diaz – .165/.195/.250

Oh my lord.

Triple Naitch 04-25-2010 08:01 PM

Modern day Murderer's Row.

Triple Naitch 04-25-2010 08:30 PM

Damn it's fucking pouring in New York. No way this is gonna last another inning.

ClockShot 04-25-2010 08:45 PM

Can we put Javy Vazquez in a return-to-sender crate to Atlanta yet?
