Mike Remlinger is out there....

DaveWadding 11-30-2012 04:26 PM

Fuck Mike Remlinger.

Nicky Fives 11-30-2012 04:36 PM

Hansen for Walden makes sense for both teams in my eyes.....Angels get a solid 3-4 starter and Braves get another arm for an already stacked bullpen to help ease the load on the arms of Venters, Kimbrel, etc.

The Condor 11-30-2012 04:55 PM

The Angels are losing Grienke to Texas, this seems like a harbinger.

Sanchez must be spiking Jeter's meals to get him off the backpage

Giants choose not to tender a contract to Brian Wilson. Early indication is that Wilson will not return to SF because SF doesn't want to offer him much guaranteed money.

Hope he keeps the beard wherever he goes. I want to see how much longer it can get before MLB claims it causes a distraction to hitters or something.

Cubs are talking to Bourne? DO IT I FUCKING DARE YOU THEOBALD DO IT!

Can't blame them considering Wilson's injury problems (missed last year and a half for them) and Romo doing a great job as his replacement for the closer spot.

Talking to him like they talked to Fielder last year. If he wants to sign on their terms they'd do it, but they ain't getting into a bidding war. Prob just trying to drive up the price if anything.

Frank Drebin 12-01-2012 10:05 PM

Wonder how the new Japanese guy will do. Surprised he didn't go to the angels. Good deal too.

The Condor 12-02-2012 02:18 AM

Derek Eater was too damn easy but it made me smile. Of course he can't walk yet Due to his injury so some pounds were inevitable.

Evil Vito 12-02-2012 11:40 AM

The Mets have fielded calls from 6 or 7 teams who want to meet at the Winter Meetings to discuss a Dickey trade.

Shit just got real. I think they'll spend the first day or two gauging interest and fielding trade offers, and if they don't like any of them they'll finally offer Dickey the contract he wants.

Rangers are said to be interested. They weren't willing to trade Andrus or Profar for Justin Upton, so obviously they won't trade either of those guys for Dickey. But they still have a loaded minor league system. If Mike Olt knows how to play the outfield, he'd be a nice addition.

ClockShot 12-02-2012 02:01 PM

Ichiro is tired of waiting for the Yankees and is now hearing offers from other clubs.

Ok.

Cubs got the best reliever in all of (japanesse) baseball today

Think Justin Upton gets traded this year?

RoXer 12-02-2012 08:53 PM

not yet

They talked with the cubs about an upton/Castro deal so anything is possible. Mike stanton is another name to keep an eye on.

Damian Rey 12-03-2012 07:38 AM

Stanton won't be moved until he's eligible for arbitration. St least that's what I'm thinking. He's ridiculously affordable right now, so the Marlins aren't pressured to move him. Once he's in line for substantial raises, he will be dealt.

ClockShot 12-03-2012 08:04 AM

Brad Lidge retires.

I think he needs to be moved sooner because he was so furious about the trade - and probably still is. Marlins shouldn't want a guy like that, and if it escalates during the year no team will want him.

Evil Vito 12-03-2012 11:41 AM

A-Rod's getting another hip surgery done in January. It's expected that he's going to miss a large chunk of the season.

That contract keeps getting better.

Yeah. Frontloaded. He gets cheaper by the year. :'(

Napoli to the Red Sox

The Condor 12-03-2012 12:09 PM

Napoli is good power-wise, but his average has never been good. The Monster will probably help out with that a little. As for the Justin Upton trade, I just don't understand how a young talented player on a decent team (won the division last year) can be on the block. Do they not have enough money to pay him, or is he becoming a diva?

At some point they need to think about the big picture. Sure they can win their weak division, but if they ever want to contend for a World Series again, they might need to restock the shelves and start over. Upton could land them 3 Everyday Players.

So does that 2009 championship.

At least the yanks got a title out of their mismanaged spending.

The Condor 12-03-2012 12:18 PM

I understand that, but the DBacks are young already with Miley, Kennedy, Upton, Goldschmidt, and Chris Young. They went to the playoffs last year. I think adding another piece or two will actually increase their chances of doing it sooner and maybe holding onto those guys longer.

Innovator 12-03-2012 12:18 PM

Awesome. Good thing he's planning for the surgery in January and not in October when the season ended.

The Condor 12-03-2012 12:19 PM

As for the 2009 title, it is a miracle that it happened with AJ Burnett in the rotation and I'm very happy with it.

This. Plus if they are serious about rebuilding (prolly not but you never know) this is where his value is at its highest.

Yanks and white sox seem like great AL candidates to fall flat on their faces this year. Both are getting old fast.

The Condor 12-03-2012 12:29 PM

The Stanton trade seems like an awesome idea in theory, however I can't imagine a contending team putting together a Hershal Walker-esque trade for the Marlins to get him. Of course I've been wrong before and the Dodgers are still in existence.

Skippord 12-03-2012 12:34 PM

Stanton is incredible and young, someone would trade everything for him if he was available

The Condor 12-03-2012 12:37 PM

He would go to NEw York for the Scranton RailRiders and immediately tear his ACL.

Didn't Selig stop a potential deal involving Stanton and the Red Sox?

I read today that he had to do some rehabbing first (called it pre-hab) before doing the surgery and that is why the surgery is only happening now.

The Condor 12-03-2012 04:43 PM

I think it's simply a genetic imperative for ARod to be hated.

Hadn't heard that but Selig is monitoring the Marlins' moves/money, which is probably why no deal has been done.

Going to end up being their full time 1B for next season. Won't have to worry about the wear-and-tear catchers deal with during a season while benefiting a lot from Fenway being his best hitting and scoring park.

It was only rumored the Stanton deal fell apart because of Selig but mainly because he and the Players Union are monitoring everything the Marlins do in terms of money now for the rest of the offseason.
