This is dead on.

sad but the stone cold truth (pun intended)

Interesting rumor making the rounds this morning. It's been said that AEW was trying to get Bret Hart, with several talents referencing him, the Owen Hart cup, etc. Was supposedly going to manage FTR.
Well that might all be a pipe dream as its being reported that AEW is under the impression that Bret has signed a new deal with WWE instead. https://www.f4wonline.com/news/wwe/b...ative-wwe-deal |
Bret of all people signing with WWE over AEW....kinda says a lot.

It’s because they write bad television consistently and have no stars. People don’t generally watch wrestling for the wrestling. They watch it for the stories and the special moments, which WWE choose to give you once a year. If anything, they, along with AEW, are making a product specifically for the fans of sweaty shirtless guys grappling, because they don’t offer anything else beyond the wrestling. |

I'm actually kinda relieved he's not gonna be FTR's manager. I don't think they need a manager, they can talk...particularly Dax. Love Tully but he really didn't add much aside from the optics of their "old school team" vibe by having a manager for the sake of having one. Would've been a cool moment for him to present the Owen Hart Cups winners with a trophy but I didn't want to see him as a regular on-screen character. As it is I think everybody wins in this situation. Good for the Hitman for getting paid. |
The “sweaty, shirtless tough guy grappling” dumb generalization aside, I think both can be true to an extent. People stopped watching wrestling because wrestling lost the script and the storytelling became abysmal. Many replaced it with stuff that did classic wrestling storytelling better (including MMA).
|
Also, apologies to Dale, but Bret would be kind of an awful manager.
|
lol bret would be an abysmal manager
|
He was kind of an abysmal wrestler as well.
|
WWE has Bret? Well AEW has Owen, so take that.
|
Now that’s not fair.
… He’s only an abysmal wrestler when compared to HBK. |
And all other Hart's
Smith Hart > Bret Hart |
Gertner is firing up his Best of Bruce Hart YouTube playlist.

Kenny Omega vs Bret Hart would be been so many stars
|
Bret def the most boring there is, the most boring there was and the most boring there ever will be.

AEW had nothing to do with his brother. They are dining out on his death like they do Brodie Lee every year. |

Helen Hart right now would be a better manager than Bret.
|
if we're talking hart managers, let's all brainstorm and figure out a way to get gary hart back in the mix. his reanimated corpse would be 100x better than living bret hart.
|
Watching people dump on Bret Hart makes me smile.

Corey Hart would be a better manager than Bret.

fucking PLEASE let teddy hart manage someone

It took me a long time to appreciate Bret Hart, but he’s easily one of the greatest of all-time. Way more wrestlers need to look at what he did and how he did, learn what they can, and adapt it.
Do not want to see him as a manager, lol. Special appearances and sometimes backing someone? Sure. Given all the pieces they had going into Revolution, the smartest main event for Double or Nothing (in my opinion) would have been Adam Page defending against MJF with Bret Hart there to present the belt to the winner as a throwback to their very first show. Punk could have wrestled Jeff Hardy. But alas. I would have also been okay with Punk beating Page at DON and Goldberg showing up on Dynamite to Spear him. Punk (w/ Bret) vs. Goldberg (w/ MJF). If you could have signed him for two matches, Punk & Wardlow vs. MJF & Goldberg as the second one. |
