I guess it has been more than a decade since the last one wrapped up.... but it would be super awkward rebooting them. Not like it is a superhero story where they can pick and choose elements and make their own take and their own story.... it would just be the same story with new actors.

The only way I could see it working is a reboot not as a film series but an HBO Max show where they go into deeper detail every school year... can even pad it out with original stuff too...

<s>HBO</s> Max has given a 10-year order for a new Harry Potter TV series. Really "putting the cart before the horse" with a 10-year order.

I just don't know how well it is going to do.... what with JK Rowling being very much "canceled".... but at the same time the Harry Potter movies & cast being so "beloved" that people won't be willing to accept new actors playing the roles.

Between people not wanting to accept new actors/reboot, and people not wanting to support anything new Rowling is involved in, could just be a big "disaster".....

Destor 04-12-2023 05:47 PM

Rowling is only canceled if you think twitter is real life. Most of earth agrees with the "terf" take. Case in point the Hogwarts game that just released is the highest selling game of the year despite twitter and gaming journos doing their absolute best to stop it.

That said there's no market for a potter reboot. Its not nostalgia yet its a generations childhood. You need another 10 years atleast.

Lock Jaw 04-12-2023 06:03 PM

Oh, thought I read the Hogwarts game sold terribly and didn't meet projections at all...... maybe that was "fake news"....

Destor 04-12-2023 06:04 PM

12 million units sold in the 1st two weeks alone

Destor 04-12-2023 06:05 PM

Its over 1 billion in revenue

Lock Jaw 04-12-2023 06:07 PM

Whatever. This is still true:

That being said, of course I will try to watch it when it comes out. :shifty:

Destor 04-12-2023 06:12 PM

Potter does nothing for me so its safe to say i will side with twitter and "boycott" this reboot

How does Laura Dern get work? She's a hallmark level actress with a face that wouldn't work in radio.

Destor 06-09-2023 09:11 PM

Has she ever made a piece better?

Fignuts 06-09-2023 11:16 PM

"Slayers: A Buffyverse Story" coming to Audible Oct 12

Featuring the voice talents of James Marsters, Charisma Carpenter, Anthony Head, Juliet Landau, Emma Caulfield, Amber Benson, James Charles Leary, and Danny Strong.

"Set 10 years after the events of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 7 finale, will follow Spike as he goes deep undercover in Los Angeles and tries to blend in with the local evildoers. However, Indira, a new Slayer, blows his cover, and Spike is forced to go back to baby-slayer-sitting duty -- he searches high and low for a watcher for the newbie Slayer, but instead he comes across another Slayer from an alternate reality where Buffy Summers doesn't exist. That's none other than Cordelia Chase, and she needs Spike to help her deal with a vampire on the loose, who just happens to be his ex-girlfriend Drusilla."

Im on this day 1 but i need to know who's writing

Lock Jaw 09-14-2023 12:05 AM

Cruised her IMDB... haven't seen or even heard of anything she has written or directed... So I will hold out hope... she also isn't writing/directing this thing alone

Destor 09-14-2023 01:26 AM

Hopefully the readings will atleast be good

Listened to the first 3 "episodes" of this while on the road today.... it is not great. Good to hear some of the voices... sometimes.

But cringing at stuff like alternate reality Tara randomly having a monkey named "Mr. Pickles" just so she can have someone to talk to and verbalize her thoughts/plot points....

A live-action Legend of Zelda movie has been announced.

Quote:

Shigeru Miyamoto, who co-created The Legend of Zelda, also addressed his involvement with the film with posts on the social media platform X. He'll be working on the project closely with Avi Arad of Arad Productions Inc., while Wes Ball, who directed the Maze Runner films along with the upcoming sequel Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, will serve as director. As it's very early into development, no cast members have yet been tied to the film. Sony Pictures Entertainment will distribute the film theatrically.

Lock Jaw 11-07-2023 09:32 PM

With the illustrious director of The Maze Runner films, I predict greatness!

Lock Jaw 11-07-2023 09:35 PM

I remember accidentally seeing the second Maze Runner film in the theater.... friend and I bought tickets to go see The Martian and then we were both late, and then went into the wrong theater. Found it strange how there were still so many trailers and commercials left, but didn't realize until a few minutes in that it was the wrong movie... and by then The Martian must have been well into it, and I didn't want to miss the start of the movie, so we just stayed and watched Maze Runner 2....

drave 11-08-2023 10:21 AM

I am excited AF for the Zelda movie. I hope they make more than one though, because there's a LOT of lore to tell.

They can follow A Link to The Past or Ocarina of Time and it'd be amazing.

With the exception of Anya you will at least feel like youre with these old friends so if youre a super fan there's something to grab onto. I say except anya but tera never had a character to begin with so while she's wildly different there's little to betray.

That said its fanfic with original cast memebers. Its amateurishly written and the ego of Benson shines brightly throughout completely unabashed.

You are basically required to be all in to enjoy this even slightly, which i admit i am and did. If it continued, and i doubt it would, a professional writer would be nice.

Lock Jaw 02-03-2025 05:07 PM

Buffy in the works for a revival:

Quote:

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is getting revived. Per Deadline, a sequel series to the beloved supernatural drama is nearing a pilot order from Hulu. Sarah Michelle Gellar expected to star, reprising her signature role as Buffy Summers. No other returning stars are attached at this time.

Furthermore, Oscar winner Chloé Zhao, a self-professed lifelong Buffy fan, is set to direct the pilot, written by Nora and Lilla Zuckerman (Poker Face). The reboot hails from Buffy the Vampire Slayer studio 20th Television and Disney sibling Searchlight TV, which has Zhao under a first-look deal. A writers room is also being assembled, meaning that Hulu highly expects the pilot to go to series. If the Buffy sequel does get picked up, it would be the third in the franchise, following mothership Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997-2003) and Angel (1999-2004).
I try to remain optimistic about things in general, but I can't see this doing well.

Amazon gains full creative control over James Bond...seems not good....they will just flood with content, a Bond 'cinematic/tv universe' instead of focusing on quality....

Destor 02-20-2025 02:02 PM

Amazon hasnt done that with any IP they control yet. Youre thinking of Disney.

Lock Jaw 02-20-2025 02:07 PM

Amazon floods with marketing. Disney floods with content.

McLegend 02-22-2025 10:11 AM

It’s still going to suck though.

Destor 02-24-2025 01:40 PM

Amazon's film division has a ton of wins. A ton of mids and some fails too but the point is its absolutely up in the air. The chicken little mentality here is based on nothing and rhats true even if you end up being right.

drave 02-24-2025 03:28 PM

Fallout (which I understand is a series and not a movie) is absolutely amazing, and I've not anticipated a Season 2 out of something in quite a long time. This, though, this is so well done and I'm excited to see what they do next.

I paid for prime just for that show, and it did not disappoint. It might help I play the games too, but even without that knowledge, it's a great show.

Destor 02-24-2025 04:57 PM

Fallout, Invincible, Reacher, The Boys. All outstanding shows still in production. Marvelous Ms Maisel is one of my all time favorite shows. Also an Amazon series. The film side is just getting going but Saltburn was one of 2023s best films.

Amazon has money to spend and theyve hit some home runs.

M-A-G 02-28-2025 04:55 AM

Are we seriously getting a sequel to the fucking Goonies after 40 God damn years? Why? Who's asking for this shit? And could you please not?

M-A-G 02-28-2025 05:02 AM

There's a perfectly fine Goonies 2 game for the NES. Just play that. It's like the Ghostbusters game on the Xbox 360 and PS3. No movie necessary.
