not even halftime yet

Supreme Olajuwon 09-07-2008 03:28 PM

should've started Chris Johnson on my fantasy team :(

Jesus Shuttlesworth 09-07-2008 04:14 PM

Brady's hit could have been worse......still didn't look very good though...

Evil Vito 09-07-2008 04:26 PM

Gay, after all the big deal they made about how Ocho Cinco would have that on the back of his jersey...the NFL isn't letting him change it because of some issues that happen whenever a player changes his name or number.

Prolly has to do with jersey sales or something.

Superbowl curse for the Pats?

UmbrellaCorporation 09-07-2008 05:07 PM

Alright, update out of NE.

WEEI is reporting that Brady's MRI was clean, and it is most likely a sprained knee. No serious damage is reported, and Brady will possibly be out 2 - 3 weeks. No long term damage, it appears. And they have an easy few games coming up. Still think Cassel can handle the reigns for that long, especially since he did a pretty good job today. This is no problem for NE.

Working on getting a link to the info.

This is all tentative, by the way. I can not find a link to this yet, but I'm hearing it quite a bit. Will repost as soon as I find out something.

U-Warrior 09-07-2008 05:48 PM

Buffalo 34, Seattle 10.

Fuck yes.

FearedSanctity 09-07-2008 05:49 PM

Cassel did do good, but KC is pretty terrible

RP 09-07-2008 06:05 PM

lol Browns fans chanting Asshole when T.O caught that TD. One of the best asshole chants ever.

Evil Vito 09-07-2008 06:12 PM

Why does it seem like almost every team in the league are wearing their white jerseys at home this year? :o

They usually do in September when it's still hot

Big Fat Mike 09-07-2008 06:21 PM

lol @ Chad Pennington.

But why do the Jets not even attempt to get a first down on that last drive? Is everyone on the sideline really worried that Favre was going to throw a pick-6?

Also, it's still hot as balls, Vito. White uniforms retain less heat.

Innovator 09-07-2008 06:24 PM

While I hate the Cowboys, my fantasy team, the Mean Street Posse, loves Marion Barber

Nervous Ferret 09-07-2008 06:27 PM

It's going to be a good year.

Evil Vito 09-07-2008 06:39 PM

I figured heat had something to do with all the white uniforms, but even the Saints were wearing white while in a dome so it seemed a bit weird.

Come to think, I think the G-Men are the only team in the NFC East that don't wear white at home year round...the other teams only wear other colors at home when it's their mandatory once-a-year alternate uni

D Mac 09-07-2008 06:58 PM

There was clearly pass interference on that last play in the Chiefs game.

We got screwed.

Joe Flacco 38 yard TD run? What?

UmbrellaCorporation 09-07-2008 08:25 PM

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is expected to miss the rest of the 2008 season with what two sources described as a severe injury to his left knee, suffered in the first quarter of the Pats’ 17-10 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs at Gillette Stadium Sunday.

While New England coach Bill Belichick said in his postgame press conference that he had no update on the status of Brady’s injury, a source close to the quarterback indicated it involved serious damage to the knee. That could include a torn anterior cruciate ligament and perhaps other ligament and cartilage damage.

“It’s bad,” a team source said. “We’re going to have to play without him.”

Brady was hurt as he stepped up in the pocket to make a throw to wideout Randy Moss. Chiefs safety Bernard Pollard, who was on the ground, lunged forward and struck Brady’s leg, which buckled as he released the ball.

Brady was helped off the field and was later led down a staircase by team officials, presumably to undergo tests.

Fourth-year quarterback Matt Cassel, who had thrown just 39 passes in his career before Sunday, replaced Brady and completed 13 of 18 passes for 152 yards and a touchdown. Cassel, who backed up Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart at USC, hasn’t been a starting quarterback since high school. He won a competition with Matt Gutierrez during the preseason to retain the job as Brady’s primary backup.

SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT

Then again...an MRI is scheduled for tomorrow, so disregard my earlier post. Since a proper test hasn't been done yet, this can not be confirmed at this time.

LoDownM 09-07-2008 08:38 PM

Looks like we did the rest of the league a favor.

On a side note. I completely forgot the season started today...

Team Sheep 09-07-2008 08:51 PM

So glad the Jets got off to a winning start. Wasn't the prettiest of games, and we should have finished Miami off a lot sooner tbh. We made hard work of it at the end. But fuck it, we won.

I quite fancy our chances next week.

VonErichLives 09-07-2008 09:01 PM

yeah, there are a bunch of ACL reports... but nothin team confirmed...

I did find it funny a Boston Herald Reporter sited Brett Favre as a source "I heard Brady injured his ACL"...

anyway, Cassell didn't look bad (of course it was against KC) and how often do Moss and Welker fumble? take those away and they could have been up more...

that being said, replace Brady with Cassell this is probably a 8-10 win team in a dog fight for the division.

Who said football wasn't fun?

I did joke with a friend today "If Cassell does real well and they win a super bowl do they trade Brady in the off-season to the bills for a 2nd round pick like Bledsoe?"

MVP 09-07-2008 09:04 PM

Man, I hope that MRI turns out to be negative. Probably not gonna happen though. :(

Crimson 09-07-2008 09:12 PM

I hate the Pats and all but I don't want Brady injured, kinda takes the fun out of their games. I want them goin down with no excuses.

Crimson 09-07-2008 09:12 PM

lol Bungals

Crimson 09-07-2008 09:13 PM

lol @ the Browns playoff hopes

SammyG 09-07-2008 09:22 PM

...

That's all I have to say.

U-Warrior 09-07-2008 09:38 PM

AFC East just got real interesting.

ClockShot 09-07-2008 10:32 PM

Chargers go down. Chefs go down. Denver's gonna be all alone atop the AFC west after week 1 wraps up.

Bring on Monday!

UmbrellaCorporation 09-07-2008 10:56 PM

It is official.

Brady is out for the entire season.

...I don't think I have to post a link to the story. You'll see what I mean when you get there.
