Big Swole gone.

Interesting that they finally released someone. Or that her contract came up. There are quite a few people that could be released to help tidy up perception of the roster.

Watched Rampage this morning. That main event totally slapped.

I’m not a fan of Sammy Guevara’s style. There’s no sense of pacing. Just one move after the other.
That describes like half the roster and half of modern workers
I think “half” might be an understatement.
I sometimes wonder how I would take modern wrestling if I didn’t grow up a wrestling fan and just tuned in brand new today.
That’s why it isn’t generating new fans, no matter how hard some hardcore fans campaign to the lapsed fan or people who have never been into wrestling. The people who have stuck with wrestling remember when it was good and just have some neurotic tick that keeps them plugged in.
People seem pretty convinced that Kevin Steen is going to AEW, but I think the darkhorse to leave might actually be Shinsuke Nakamura. Not because I think he feels unhappy, or disrespected in his current role. But I can see Tony Khan opening up the wallet to him, since he’s probably a mark for his New Japan work. And having him does allow TK to lease him out to New Japan of America and whatever.
The WWE will obviously make a large offer to keep him, because he is a value add, but they’ll also have a cap on that and an expectation on dates/touring. I can see TK paying out the ass to have the guy show up much more rarely to try and present him as a special attraction of sorts. So even if the style is more physically taxing, it’s also possible that he’ll be doing a much smaller amount of work a year for more money. He probably feels a bit of loyalty to Vince, who I do think is a fan, but the difference between $950k and $1.2 million and how each promotion is going to feature him could be what potentially seals it. |
You keep hearing all these different things about Chad Gable’s contract and when it comes up, but he’s another guy I see leaving. Again, not because I feel he wants to, per se, but I can see AEW offering him main event money to come in and work with Danielson, Punk, Omega, etc. They’ll treat him like their Kurt Angle.
The WWE are likely to make Gable a reasonable offer, but it’ll probably be good for a mid-carder with no real creative laid out for him. I can see him taking the AEW offer to Vince and being like “What can you do?” and Vince being like “You should take that offer. Go out and get it done and I hope we talk in a few years time.” |

Guevara should have never taken the belt from miro |

It seemed like they were on a good track with building Miro’s credibility up until he dropped the belt. Is he doing anything of note now?
I remember thinking the same about Lance Archer but in his case I guess I can see his age preventing them from wanting to put him over the roster too hard. Miro’s still pretty young I think. They should commit to him as a long-term top heel.
I like Chad Gable

For as crowded as the roster is, guys who could be available in the coming weeks/months like Johnny Gargano, Kyle O'Reilly, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn...all of these are guys you have to bring in if they're interested in working for you. You can always find room for those kind of talents.
But that's why a guy like Tony Nese, while I like him well enough and he's a good hand, his signing just feels kinda extraneous. I don't see a higher ceiling for him than being a heel version of what Matt Sydal is. |
I could take or leave Gargano and O´Reilly. More so O´Reilly.
at least gargano has a personality.
I’d like reDragon in the tag division.
Gargano, O’Reilly, Steen and Generico all add value. The perception of acquiring talent is worth it alone. There are talents in AEW you can cut.
My issue isn’t with the signings so much as the talent they keep around, and the deal they make out of some of the signings. Tony Nese and Bobby Fish probably didn’t need that much fanfare. |
