I actually went back earler today and did battle (at level 23). He was preoccupied with gunners , so I took an potshot with my anti-Super Mutant sniper, then proceeded to lead him in circles around one of the underpass supports until I ran out of 10mm I chipped at him with. Total bullet sponge.

Apologies for any unchecked typos. So not sober at the moment.

Faction question, for those further ahead:

If I choose to join Brotherhood of Steel, do I progress through the "main story" from their perspective until the end? I DO want to do their questline, but wasn't sure how far it followed the main story. Hopefully that question makes sense, just got up 5 mins ago.

Heisenberg 11-20-2015 08:55 AM

Haven't bothered with the brotherhood yet brother, that's gonna be this weekend. I'm going Lone Wanderer and showing up to give my life to Danse

Shadow 11-20-2015 08:55 AM

So I'm level 20, killed the man who kiddnaped my son and....BoS shows up with a giant fucking airship.

I don't care if they feel like the Enclave, that's how you make an entrance.

road doggy dogg 11-20-2015 08:57 AM

Whenever I see one of their planes flying around I VATS the shit outta the pilot and watch it crash and burn... so cool

I have the scene saved on my xbox, it was my first interaction with the BoS in FO4 so it felt right to log that in

does this cause them to hate you and all?

road doggy dogg 11-20-2015 09:02 AM

Not sure. I never get any message on the top-left or anything about it, and BoS NPCs I randomly encounter don't initially start out as hostile.

I've yet to start the main quest with them (I still have the "Investigate the BoS Airship" quest in my log) so I don't know if it will affect anything down the road. I'm prepared to accept the consequences of my actions.

road doggy dogg 11-20-2015 09:04 AM

Have about 7 suits of BOS II Power Armor stashed in my settlements. I am ready to mobilize my settlers at a moment's notice. Except Marcy Long. She can fucking die.

road doggy dogg 11-20-2015 09:05 AM

Also, after reading a throwaway post on Reddit, it really reinforced to me that if WoW implemented garrisons half as well as Fallout did settlements, I'd probably still be playing WoD right now

Play the Institute up until Mass Fusion and don't start it and make a save there. Before that point, you can join everyone and do all their quests before then. You only need to make a choice there.

she's doing the slow burn to a face turn

she can eat crap though, worked on Fort Piss 2.0 last night and went to the workshop to get some Jet and she is sitting by me saying that "the place could be better, but oh well"

Heisenberg 11-20-2015 01:08 PM

Not throwing shade, but seeing the Halo, CoD, SWBF threads low in pages makes me sad. I'd be playing those games if Fallout wasn't around, but also I've heard nothing but terrible things about the 3 since their respective launches.

Fignuts 11-20-2015 01:39 PM

I got black ops 3 yesterday, and its pretty fun thus far.

road doggy dogg 11-20-2015 01:52 PM

I've heard only positive things about BlOps3 but I just can't be bothered to play a true FPS right now

Not sure if I should be impressed by this or just laugh at him for spending that much time on a giant dick tower... Still makes me feel like crap for barely being able to create a simple two story building in Sanctuary with wires running all over the damn place though. :'(

Emperor Smeat 11-20-2015 05:18 PM

Patch arriving next week for the PC and at a later date for consoles. Bethesda also revealed their patch plans for the game.

Quote:

While Bethesda has not detailed what fixes will be coming in the patch, it has said it will initially be a beta patch on Steam, then a full PC patch, then later a patch for consoles. Apparently, this pathway for patch releases is going to be the standard for Fallout 4.

Does this still work if I started BoS first?

road doggy dogg 11-20-2015 06:55 PM

Yup, doesn't matter who you start with. Just don't advance the Brotherhood after hunting down a certain synth. You'll know who I mean when you see it, but if anyone wants it spelled out to be certain:

SPOILER: show
the mission where its revealed Danse is a synth

I mean, there's not much to talk about with them either like there is with this. You can talk about stories high in quests and shit that just happens in this game, like I met a person with a synth doppelganger and one of them had a gun to the others head just randomly in a place I'd cleared out before, it was great.

In those other games, it's just like "I shot some dudes".

Going to take on the museum of witchcraft. Though I'm level 36, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Fignuts 11-22-2015 02:56 PM

Oh god this is spooky

SlickyTrickyDamon 11-22-2015 03:21 PM

with or without power armor?

road doggy dogg 11-22-2015 03:48 PM

Yeah I decided to try that quest at like 2am and then I hated myself.

Doesn't matter what you take on the Museum in. It's close quarters with one of the most devastating creatures in the wasteland. You gonna die the first dozen times.

Then you say screw it and go in smart.

Tom Guycott 11-23-2015 12:45 AM

"Ok, I really need to continue the campaign."
:rebuilds Hangman's Alley:
"Seriously, I should really find..."
:defends Sanctuary from a Super Mutant attack/proceeds to make an impregnable, water-processing fortress:
:..proceeds to build a strip mall:
:builds a small fort and "amazon militia" at the railway station:
"DAMMIT, I DIDN'T ACCOMPLISH SHIT!!! THIS IS WORSE THAN SKYRIM!!!"
...
:goes to Co-op settlement and retrofits an existing warehouse into a restaurant:

"And now, I have to dig TWO graves!"

Was really cool. Just seems like there should have been more interaction to deduce which is which instead of peaceful resolution OR not my problem I don't care who is who just shoot him.

Another one I ran into was better, with the guy and his wife (i guess) that just found out he was traveling with a runaway synth, and had his gun on him. Talking the guy into or out of pulling the trigger seemed way more natural than that doppelganger encounter.

Heisenberg 11-23-2015 09:03 AM

Beat the game Saturday, it was pretty sweet, that was my mainly Good guy run, now to start my evil reckless run.

When you start another character they have the saves by character so you won't save over or confuse yourself.

Heisenberg 11-23-2015 09:10 AM

As far as I'm concerned, I am Fallout 4, no one can out Fallout me, I was raised by the Brotherhood of Feel. It was only fitting to align with them and do w/e it is we did and stuff

Emperor Smeat 11-23-2015 06:06 PM

Another potential nasty bug was recently discovered and it involves trying to use console commands for the PC version of the game. Has the potential to mess up save files when used.

A lot of interesting stuff has been discovered from these commands but Bethesda says its not worth the risk to use them.

Quote:

In a very Bethesda-like fashion, messing around with console commands on the PC version of Fallout 4 might completely bug out your game more than it's already bugged out to begin with. Warning folks not to use the system at all, the publisher's Pete Hines noted that console commands are "not supported or recommended on PC. [They] can very easily mess up save games."

drave 11-24-2015 08:02 AM

Had something weird happen last night.

I got to Bunker Hill and was just walking around. Approached some NPC and she said "OKAY, LET'S GET THIS OVER WITH!!" and just opened fire.

I shot back, killing her. Nick Valentine and the entire fucking town turned on me and began attacking. There were a few NPC's who were unkillable, but WTF??

Wish it would've killed them all. I shot a few fat man's and it was glorious.

drave 11-24-2015 08:03 AM

Actually had to reload the game after that though, and I hadn't saved in 30 minutes or so and CBA playing shit over again.

road doggy dogg 11-24-2015 08:25 AM

ha I've been in that same boat a couple times. Was doing the Freedom Trail quest and got pretty far along and then asploded by a derka derka Super Mutant and lost about 20 mins of progress, 3x over. Haven't turned my game on since lol

Heisenberg 11-24-2015 08:57 AM

told myself I was done playing for the day yesterday and ended up putting a good 3 hours into my "evil" character. The dialogue is so much sweeter, followers/factions make you earn it more. They respond sarcastically whenever you do anything that has a speck of nice in it.

This isn't a "KOS" kill on site run, it's a "do the quests they have and then Triple H them with a sledgehammer" type of run

road doggy dogg 11-24-2015 09:01 AM

I've been playing my game fairly neutral to this point, but I feel my character doing a heel turn. Hoping I can join the Institute if that is an option (I haven't advanced far enough in the story to know if that's even a viable question)

Heisenberg 11-24-2015 09:05 AM

It's no secret, 4 factions are available, you're able to join each one at the same time throughout some point:

The Institute or the Synth World Order sWo

The Railroad

The Brotherhood of Steel(Feel)

...and the jobberMen(Minutemen Orange Juice)
