yea, I can't see any more posts. what the fuck

The Miz 08-02-2005 09:39 PM

Ryan Franklin has always been my favorite M to pick on but this is ridiculous. He had to use steroids to achieve a 6+ ERA, imagine how shitty he woulda been withotu them.

Our rotation is almost Ranger-bad now

The Miz 08-02-2005 09:40 PM

BTW, first team in MLB to have multiple cheaters

YOUR Hero 08-02-2005 10:11 PM

What do you think of his protests.. that he didn't take anything knowingly.

In Canada, we've heard this before (Ben Johnson), however, Silken Laugman (sp?) was also banned for... well I don't think it was a steriod, but something when she took one of those nasal mists.

Me, I'd like to believe him. Who knows though.

The Miz 08-02-2005 10:25 PM

I don't buy his excuses at all. Even if he is innocent, I don't care because we get to see an AAA guy for the next 10 days instead of that bum Franklin

YOUR Hero 08-02-2005 10:41 PM

I was referring to Raphy, BTW

YOUR Hero 08-02-2005 10:44 PM

You know, Palmeiro was under oath. If he has lied, and it is a known fact that he lied, he could face up to 5 years in jail.

I doubt they'd ever go after him, but it makes for interesting talk.

Terra Ryzin 08-03-2005 12:15 AM

David Wright is the man

NEW YORK -- Rafael Palmeiro said he didn't knowingly ingest steroids.
The Mets are trying not to make the same mistake.

"It's scary to realize that you can buy things at GNC or at a Vitamin Shoppe that could show up positive in a drug test," Mets third baseman David Wright said. "But on the other hand, we're professional athletes and we have to be responsible for what we put in our body and we need to check with our team doctors, our trainers to make sure what we do put in our bodies are legal and are allowed."

"I think it's still surprising," Wright said of the suspensions this season. "Maybe I'm naďve that nobody would want to cheat, to put things in their bodies that would give them an advantage over everybody else.

"But then again, I'm kind of 'old school' where I think that you get to where you want to be through hard work rather than having to take any kind of illegal supplements."

Wright, ever the optimist, repeatedly moved for the issue to be resolved, simply so everyone could remember what a great game baseball still is.

"I think the first thing to get back on the right track is catching these people who are using steroids and punishing them," Wright said. "Hopefully, it won't happen again. Hopefully, a year from now we're talking about pennant races and Wild Card races [instead of] steroid use and drug use in baseball."

Boomer 08-03-2005 12:15 AM

He tested positive for stanozolol, a potent steroid says ESPN.

Ben Johnson got stripped of the gold for it...

How about Raphy?

Jesus Shuttlesworth 08-03-2005 03:25 AM

Manny knocks in 3 RBIs to boost his total to 97. Red Sox win it by one run.

YOUR Hero 08-03-2005 10:26 AM

Stanozolol isn't found in any supplement (if I remember correctly anyway..). That's the very same steriod that fucked over Ben Johnson.

RP 08-03-2005 12:52 PM

The Oakland " Bleeping " A's are doing it agaain.

Yes folks. Its time we shed a little bit of attention on , what i think is, The best organization in baseball.

I'm not a A's fan. ( Atleast i wasnt .. )

The Oakland A's were 12 1/2 games back of the Angels in May. They've since went on a tear winning 33-40 games. Unbelievable. They do this shit every year. Start out slow, then blitz there way to the top and make the playoffs. The messed up thing about it is, every year they lose all-star players. Giambi, Tejada, Mark Mulder, Tim Hudson, Keith Folke. Yet Billy Bean still gets this team re-stocked for the playoff run.

I'm a Cubs fan. Since my team seems to be falling hard of late. I'm jumping on the bandwagon now. GO A's

The Miz 08-03-2005 01:08 PM

They will mostly likely win the West, if they do they will lose to the Red Sox in the first round. If they win the wild card however they will play Chicago and probably sweep them. Amazing that they're doing this in a rebuilding year. 2006-8 are really their years

RP 08-03-2005 01:40 PM

They havent traded or signed anyone. They have the same roster they had opening day. Zito has been average at best. Mark Kotsay is like there star player.

RP 08-03-2005 01:41 PM

Billy Bean should run baseball.

OssMan 08-03-2005 02:30 PM

Yeah whatever Raffy took is "practically impossible" to ingest unknowingly :o

The Miz 08-03-2005 03:22 PM

What? They've picked up:

Jay Payton (HUGE upgrade over Spaz Byrnes, good power, clutch hitter)
Joe Kennedy (lefty long-man, gives them depth in the rotation if someone gets injured)
Jay Witasick (excellent setup man, along with Calero and Duchscherer they now have best RH setup in the league)

They've gotten rid of:

Spaz Byrnes (fast and good pop but stupidest player in MLB and defensive liability)
Chad Bradford (kills righties but they already have a Roogy and he si always on the DL)

Dan Johnson and Huston Street were not on the opening day roster; Johnson is leading the team in hitting and is 10000x better than Hatteberg and Street is the Rookie of the Year.

Zito is having his best year since 2002 (Cy Young). The stats are deceiving, he had one awful month but has been one of the top 5 starters in MLB the last 2 months.

Kotsay is good, yes, but the offense is anchored by Crosby Chavez and Kendall

Again, what?

Supreme Olajuwon 08-03-2005 03:43 PM

What I don't understand is Oakland/Bay Area fans. They have the 7th worst attendance in baseball this year and the fans never seem to come out for them even though they put out a solid team year in and year out. They're averaging almost 15,000 less people a game than the Giants who are garbage.

The Outlaw 08-03-2005 03:51 PM

THE NEV EPISODE

RP 08-03-2005 04:14 PM

OK . But yah the A's are good.

RoXer 08-03-2005 04:34 PM

HEY, FUCK YOU. If anyone should have made this thred it should have been me.

RoXer 08-03-2005 04:35 PM

OKAKLAND F'N A'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

RP 08-03-2005 04:38 PM

You're a horrible A's fan

RoXer 08-03-2005 04:39 PM

God, I miss the bay area. I want to go to a game so bad. I think the NL West plays the AL west next year though, so I might luck out if they come to AZ.

And yeah, what Miz said. They will crush the White Sox if they meet them in the playoffs. If it's the Red Sox, then they will probly win the first 2 and lose the last 3. Like every year.

The bandwagon is full Rectal Pertruder. Please leave.

RoXer 08-03-2005 04:44 PM

Fuck, I remember when I was a kid and the A's were terrible in the 90's. You could go to a game for something like $8. BART ride, cheap bleacher seats, and maybe a dollar hot dog night and it would be around $8 or something.

YOUR Hero 08-03-2005 08:43 PM

It's hard not to like the A's. I've liked them going back to the mid 70's. Expos, Jays, M's, A's. I'd say that would be my order of favourites. Minus the 'sP0s now of course.

YOUR Hero 08-03-2005 08:46 PM

Oh shit, something I forgot to mention.

Miz, Huston Street will not be the rookie of the Year. No doubt he's been very good for the A's this year, however:

Will be the AL RotY

The Miz 08-03-2005 09:42 PM

Chacin has been very, very good, but he is a #3 starter on a team that will not make the playoffs. Street is one of the key contributors to the resurgence of a team that most likely make the playoffs. His ERA is well under 2 and he could finish with 20-25 saves. Oakland's pen is arguably the best in the AL and he is the leader of it. Sorry but there is no pressure starting in Toronto on a .500 team. Street is 21 and was brought in to replace Octavio Dotel as the Oakland A's closer and has been unbelievable. Chacin = very good Street = excellent

YOUR Hero 08-03-2005 09:56 PM

I say you're wrong, however, we shall see.

The Miz 08-03-2005 10:04 PM

The only chance he has of losing it is if his teamate Nick Swisher takes away some of his votes. If by the end of the season his statline looks something like 21/26 sv, 1.85, 70+ ip it will be hard to argue.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 08-03-2005 11:34 PM

Manny bats once tonight. Hits his 30th HR and picked up his 100th RBI
