Sexson was an excellent signing. Beltre sucks.

BCWWF 05-28-2006 08:57 PM

My argument at the time was not that they were bad players (at the time Beltre was good) but that they were high priced guys to buy when the Mariners were out of contention for the next couple years. But meh. That series was too bad for the Mariners, just couldn't get the guys in. Ichiro kind of slipped up in the 10th. The line drive that Cuddyer caught wasn't too bad, but the one that Torii caught against the wall Ichiro could have made a break for home if he got the right jump.

The Miz 05-29-2006 01:07 AM

Getting one high-priced free agent was okay, because we had the resources. Sexson puts asses in the seats and without him, we're the Royals. Beltre should be shot.

Sexson will turn it around.

SammyG 05-29-2006 06:44 AM

Nice to see Bonds get 715. :) Dodgers still lookin good.

BCWWF 05-29-2006 01:30 PM

It's funny because the Twins upcoming schedule (which features the other AL West teams) is being called the chance to pick up some serious ground in the division. Bring it on Angels and A's.

RoXer 05-29-2006 01:53 PM

If the A's lose one of their games with Royals, I will be very upset.

Would've been better to play those teams last week. Angels are heating up and A's may have Duchscherer, Witasick, Harden, and Milton Bradley back by then.

They might not be in first place past this week.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 05-30-2006 03:58 AM

Damn Sox tie up in the 8th after being 6 runs down for the majority of the game then lose the lead in the bottom half of the inning. Red Sox just need to step it up with their pitching a little bit and I think they will be alright. They got the offense obviously and so far they've had the best defense in the majors. While people are quick to point out how they've lost the majority of their games to teams over .500, a lot of those games where 1 or 2 run games. So if the pitchers could just step it up they'd be all set.

The biggest problem in recent history for the Red Sox has been the closer. The one year they had a good closer (Foulke before he lost "it") they won the World Series. So I am feeling pretty good with Papelbon as the closer, hopefully it relates to equal success.

Gertner 05-30-2006 10:17 AM

the sox offence consists of ortiz and ramierez with occasional cameo appearences by the supporting cast.

Stima what is with Matt Clement not being able to pitch against the Jays. It seems like every game he pitches against Toronto he gets shelled

The tigers are finding out what it's like playing teams other than the Royals. The AL East will Swallow them up.

Dragon 05-30-2006 12:37 PM

I'm pretty sure Clement has been getting shelled by every team, not just the Jays lol. Every game I've seen him pitch lately he has been pretty bad.

1 game back now with the Sox losing.

Dragon 05-30-2006 12:38 PM

Yeah, the Tigers next 4 series are against the Yanks, Red Sox, White Sox and Jays. It will be interesting to see how well they do with that.

RoXer 05-30-2006 03:40 PM

Sabathia vs. Buehrle today

Webb vs. Pedro tomorrow

RoXer 05-30-2006 03:40 PM

Also, I am very upset.

OssMan 05-30-2006 04:07 PM

lol

Loretta 1 HR 25 RBI .317 AVG + 12 doubles and a 14 game hitting streak going
Lowell 7 HR 29 RBI .322 AVG + 23 doubles
Youkilis 5 HR 24 RBI .317 AVG + 34 BB and 57 runs scored
Nixon 3 HR 26 RBI .299 AVG

Varitek is slumping a bit (Only hitting .239) and Gonzalez is only in the game for his defense - other than that the offense has been pretty good. Youkilis has been doing great as the lead off man and now that Crisp is back from his injury the lineup will only improve. Many people have Lowell slated as the "Comeback Player of the Year" already. Granted it is still very early so things could change I guess but saying the team's offense is based strictly off of Manny and Ortiz is pretty dumb.

Also, Clement can't pitch againest anyone really, it is not just the Jays. I'll give the Jays credit though, they seem to keep pulling games out againest the Sox. Hopefully with Beckett on the mound tonight it'll be different, he was doing great last time he faced the Blue Jays until he broke down in the 7th.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 05-30-2006 04:43 PM

Also Wily Mo had a .321 AVG going (still had 37 K's tho) but he's on the 15 day DL right now.

they could use another bat. Ortiz/ Manny almost make up half your teams homeruns

Jesus Shuttlesworth 05-30-2006 05:07 PM

Manny and Ortiz will probably both hit 40+ homers so that is 80 or so homers between the 2 of them. I am sure a few other guys will be up around 25-30 homers then some themselves so I really do not see them needing another bat. When Wily Mo comes back from the DL they will have to come off the bench and he can provide some power so I think that is the least of the Red Sox worries. The offense is not the problem, it is the inconsistant starting pitching and a few of the relievers.

You could say that about the Jays too though. The Jay's bats are obviously there, if their pitching is more consistant they'd be first in the AL by a long shot. Letting Josh Towers lose that many games was fucking ridiculous. BJ Ryan is a monster and once Burnett comes back as well as a healthy Chacin, the Jays can seriously win this division.

FakeLaser 05-30-2006 07:10 PM

and Randy Johnson finally pitches a decent game.
