Watching Superbrawl '98. Such a surreal show 13 1/2 years later. Booker T's first singles title reign, the rise of Goldberg (he's got pyro, but the security entrance and smoke on the ramp was still to come), and now I'm watching a newly-turned Chris Jericho refuse to take off the Cruiserweight Title for his title-vs-mask match with Juvi Guerrera. The announcers are talking about DDP vs. Benoit and the Outsiders against the Steiners. Plus, the Hogan/Sting rematch.

Which was still good for the usual 3.2 rating overall. 3.01 for the first hour and 3.4 for the second
|
Like I said, surreal.
|
And now Davey Boy Smith - three months after Montreal - has Mongo in the Sharpshooter. No reaction from the Cow Palace. Probably because it's Mongo.

Vince has the giant chin divot (and Steph kind of has it), and Hunter has the forehead crevices.
People could get lost in that family's face. |
Mongo is just pawn in Horsemen life.

"Is that an asshole on your chin or are you just happy to see me?" |
Where can I watch every botchamania without downloading them? Got shit else to do right now.
|
Just go on YouTube a search the names. That's what I do. I'm up to about 171. But there are big chunks missing lower in the series because they were corrupted or never released or something.
|
Ok, starting with #1. Orton I guess acting as GM saying tonight's main event is La Resistance vs Regal and Eugene for the World Heavyweight Championship.
|
Cole should be required to watch this show. Bobby Heenan is playing the heel color man, but he's adding to each match through his insightful commentary. He's rooting for the heels, but he's doing it by playing up the psychology of the match rather than just blindly hating on the faces.

Of course, as long as the improvements keep happening, I don't care about the ratings. Eventually, the numbers will rebound if RAW's and SD are consistent in quality... |
Just got a terrible image of Steph/HHH's grown offspring with butt-chins and wrinkle-heads.
|
I don't think it's Cole, it's just him doing what he's told. And he's told to make himself more important than anything else.

Wonder who has been in botchamania the most? My guess would be Steiner, Sid, or Hogan.

Someone in TNA, probably.

I could easily make a drinking game out of this when I get home. Watch every botchamania and every time Sid fucks up take a shot of whiskey. Steiner=rum. Hogan=Crown. So on and so forth.

This year has been pretty odd for things to start feuds like CM Punk vs Cena started off when Cena showed no respect to Punk's diet Pepsi drink.
Yoshi Tatsu vs Tyson Kidd started over a missing leg on the Tatsu action figure. |
WWE Reportedly Overhauls SummerSlam Hours Before Raw
Alberto Del Rio has once again been victimized by WWE's haphazard booking as his long planned match with John Cena at SummerSlam was nixed hours before last night's Raw telecast in Hampton, Virginia.
Creative overhauled the match line-up for SummerSlam Monday afternoon after deeming their creative plans for CM Punk for the event as "awful." Del Rio was effectively removed from the title picture as a result. WWE's braintrust felt that had Punk not been slotted in the title match, his much talked about storyline would extinguish. Though Del Rio had the rug pulled out from under him once again, creative has the 34-year-old pegged for a title run this fall. WWE announced today they will present a landmark tour across Mexico this October and a number of high ranking officials feel the countryman returning as a conquering hero will garner a great deal of media attention. Meanwhile, The Miz was at one point scheduled to reign supreme in the WWE Championship Tournament on Raw. Creative later changed their mind and the WWE Championship was awarded to Rey Mysterio, who got to hold the belt for approximately an hour and a half. |
WWE's going to fuck up this CM Punk angle...I can feel it.
|
Interesting. That means they're protecting Miz. And can't say I care about the Del Rio situation. He's pretty much been yo-yo'd and is losing a lot of steam. He'd be dead in the water without the MITB.
It's surprising how late they changed it. |
I wonder if it also meant the rumors of the new belt was scrapped as well since Miz was originally rumored to win the new belt from the tournament but on RAW it was just the replica of the old Cena style belt.
I'd assume Rey is going to get tossed out of any chance for the title at Summerslam with his rematch next week and lose again to Cena. |
...and they drop the PG rating, right?
[j/k] |
|
I'd like to see Punk change his title. Like he said he would.

On the other hand...
In a move that is sure to please many fans, WWE is planning to make changes to its booking philosphy, namely, focusing on more long-term booking. WWE made an unprecedented move several months back by announcing John Cena vs. The Rock for next year's WrestleMania a full year in advance - and it appears we'll be seeing more big matches set up this way. This is somewhat of an "old school" approach - with the company deciding on a featured match and then 'working backwards'

Reminds me of this for some reason lol. Espeically the "Hey guys! Guess what!? Keep on readin'!" |

So I'm 10 botchamanias in, and I can honestly say, Sabu has/does fuck up more than anyone else.
|
He botched big moves that are entertaining to watch someone screw up. You don't see all of Luger's botches of simple armbars.
|
Or Mongo obviously
|
I really hope that Michael Cole doesn't get demoted to Smackdown.

Realizing Kofi Kingston is a DDP wannabe.
Always giving himself Self High-Fives, but instead of going BANG! he goes BOOM! |
Definitely. Remember that stalker angle that Kofi did? Total ripoff.

Wrestling ratings usually pop for the NEXT week, not the current episode. People have to find out what happened first. Remember the rating the week Rock "returned" (3.14) was nothing compared to the following week (3.9) after everyone knew about it. Now if next week's rating remains the usual 3.2 or worse, I may start to worry |
NXT Season 5 is now 21 episodes old with no end in sight, no hints as to when it might end, nothing. Derrick Bateman has won every match since returning, almost as if WWE is telling the audience who to vote for. Yet despite that Titus O'Neil continues to win every challenge because the fans cheer for him solely due to the dog bark/association with Hornswoggle. Yoshi Tatsu and Tyson Kidd have main evented the show for about a month now. Every week its the same thing on repeat.
I really have no idea why they are dragging this season on for so stupidly long. I almost wonder if they don't have 5 guys in FCW they feel comfortable calling up. |
How the fuck did Botchamania get to 171?!
Half of them aren't even botches anymore, and most of the videos consist of crappy effects etc that whoever makes them puts in. Totally not funny anymore. |

a darts competition gets that many fans?

Cena could easily tie or break Ric Flair's 16 title reign record within the next 2-3 years.
Cena has 11 reigns with 3 occurring just in the 1st half of this year and could have at least 12 before the next Wrestlemania if the plans of Del Rio cashing in and Cena vs Rock stays as a championship match. |

Watching ROH: Greatest Rivalries (rented from Netflix). My first dose of ROH Wrestling and I am kinda digging the wrestling style.
|
Still catching up on SmackDown! (up to two weeks ago now) and I've noticed that AJ is an awesome wrestler. Some of her stuff is off, but she comes across as a wrestler, not a Diva, and is enjoyable to watch in the ring (from an in-ring standpoint). She could develop into something really awesome down the road.
|
Watched some NXT today for no reason. Was bored.
Seems like Yoshi Tatsu and Tyson Kidd have been having a good feud over Yoshi's action figure. Just had a Yoshi Tastu's Action Figure's Severed Leg On a Pole match. :y: |

Serious question.
So, how many of you guys mastered the ability to raise your eyebrow because of The Rock? I know I did. |
back when I had eyebrows I tried but couldnt do it
|
<--- this guy when I was maybe 14 or so. Couldn't raise even one and now I can do both alternating/dancing like a rooftop party on my frontal bone
|
I could always do it. Though I have more trouble with my left than right.
|
|
So Punk has dubbed this new era the "Reality Era".
Thoughts? |
Nah.
|
So far so good, you keep having to tune in to see where it's going.

Has there been an official reason why TNA doesn't like Samoa Joe or The Pope considering both guys are tied for dead last (0 pts) in the Bound for Glory points table?
|
Ive been waiting for Joe to snap and start making people tap out every show for 10 points a pop to get back into contention really fast..
|
Joe's fat and Pope is black.
|
|
This might be a stupid question, but can anyone describe exactly how the buried alive matches work? Is there a trap door down there or an oxygen tank?
|
I actually wrote that question into Paul Bearer once, lol. He said it involves an oxygen tank. I think I've heard reports of like Kane helping dig Taker out one time at the back of the grave, so there's probably also a trap door.
