Go to bed, McLegend.

Droford 05-26-2011 02:07 AM

The Os can get back to .500 tomorrow after their 9-2 win tonight..pretty decent game. Was surprised that the Royals left in their SP Hochevar after he gave up 8 runs in the 4th and he managed to go 8 innings pretty much shutting the Os down in all the other innings. The Os didnt win their 23rd game last year until almost the end of June and they're still only 3.5 gb of the Yankees.

Supreme Olajuwon 05-26-2011 03:30 AM

Brandon Phillips is gonna have to do some serious windsprints next practice.

Good Posey's out for the season and I have no catcher in my fantasy baseball league

Droford 05-26-2011 06:11 PM

Talk is that Posey's agent wants MLB to change the rules regarding plays at the plate to keep players from being hurt.

dont know about that

Mets prepared to sell at least the minority stake in the team next month worth about $200 million but no extra bonuses. Mets owner wants to use the influx of money to help pay off some debts and other financial issues.

Einhorn will not be willing to sell his stake back to the Wilpons once they settle their money problems but also won't challenge them to get full control for at least a few more years.

Quote:

NEW YORK -- The cash-strapped owners of the New York Mets have agreed to sell a minority share of the team to hedge fund manager David Einhorn for $200 million.

The move, announced Thursday, would allow owners Fred and Jeff Wilpon and Saul Katz to retain control of the team. The influx of money would help pay debts and cover operating expenses.

A definitive agreement is expected by late June, according to the team.

The sale will be for less than 49 percent of the team and will not include a stake in SNY, the television network owned by the Mets, sources close to the deal tell ESPN's Karl Ravech.

Fred Wilpon told Sports Illustrated this week the team is "bleeding cash" and could lose up to $70 million this year. He also told the magazine the club might slash payroll next year. The Mets received a loan from Major League Baseball in November to help cover expenses.

Same. And I've already got Victorino out in that league as well. Sucks that it's weekly roster moves so my replacement won't even get credit until Monday.

Evil Vito 05-28-2011 11:31 AM

David Einhorn is brilliant. The deal is $200 million for 33% of the team. However - in three years time he can either become the principal owner of the team at 60%, or the Wilpons must return his $200 million investment while letting him keep the 33%.

So either he becomes the majority owner or he gets to own a third of the team for free. Fantastic deal.

DaveWadding 05-28-2011 12:20 PM

Yeah...too bad he couldn't actually get a GOOD team out of the deal.

Supreme Olajuwon 05-28-2011 12:22 PM

says the Cubs fan

DaveWadding 05-28-2011 04:53 PM

"Oh hai Tom Ricketts! Have you ever lost all your money in a Ponzi scheme? No? How about essentially giving away ownership of 1/3rd of your team? You're asking if I'm joking? You have to have devalued the trade values of your biggest superstars by trashing them in an interview for a national publication...get the fuck out of your office? Ok, sir, but... **door slam*"

Evil Vito 05-28-2011 10:28 PM

aaaaaand Mike Pelfrey's awesome start goes to waste. Fuck this team.

How did Jose Bautista become the best hitter in all of baseball?!

GEEZ!

Simple - He came up through the Pirates organization and got traded away. It's the same formula they've used for 18 going on 19 years.

DaveWadding 05-29-2011 05:39 PM

Aaaand the Diamondbacks are tied for 1st place.

Emperor Smeat 05-29-2011 05:50 PM

Red Sox on a nice roll after winning the first game of a doubleheader today and 13-2 record the last 2 1/2 weeks.

Not 100% sure but I believe they have a better record against AL Central than the other AL divisions so far this year.

Aguakate 05-29-2011 05:56 PM

How LONG is Ozzie Guillen's leash in Chicago? Seems like he can do whatever he wants, say whatever he wants, have the team lose, and STILL not get fired...

...his act got tiresome a long time ago...

DaveWadding 05-29-2011 06:06 PM

So, D'Backs. First place. For real.

Since I dont think the Dodgers can pull a fire sale being run by MLB I dont have any jokes.

DaveWadding 05-30-2011 04:33 PM

I think I'm going to know more about this Astros team than any other team in the NL by the end of this series. 6 days of Astros baseball in a row.

DaveWadding 05-30-2011 05:10 PM

The Cubs really need to stop picking pitchers up off the scrap heap. These Doug Davis and Rodrigo Lopez types really do nothing as Cubs. I think they should stick with their young guys, good or bad through the injuries.

Aguakate 05-30-2011 05:13 PM

Hawk Harrelson is an ass.

http://larrybrownsports.com/baseball...comment-page-1

Hawk Harrelson: Jose Bautista Has a Little Cork in his Bat?

The White Sox broadcasters were the latest media members to be treated to the Jose Bautista show. The Toronto slugger went 5-for-10 with a home run and three RBIs in the first three games of the Blue Jays-White Sox series this weekend, leaving Chicago’s TV team impressed. In fact, Bautista impressed the team of Hawk Harrelson and Steve Stone so much, it left Harrelson saying “If you didn’t know better, you’d say [his bat] had a little cork in it.”

I know Hawk qualified his statement by saying “If you didn’t know any better,” but he’s still throwing it out there that Bautista is hitting the ball harder than everyone else, and he’s suggesting something may be up. Many people have suspected Bautista of using PEDs, and given the amount of successful major leaguers who have been busted over time, that wouldn’t totally be unfair.

The point is people have been looking to explain Jose Bautista’s evolution into the best hitter in the game. Last year I thought he was a fluke, but now I believe that he’s morphed into a slugger. Still, I wouldn’t be surprised to find out he were using some substances.

Now Hawk’s throwing it out there that if you didn’t know any better, you’d say he’s corking his bat. Well Hawk, if you know better, then why did you suggest it? That to me sounds like someone so impressed you don’t believe what you’re seeing, and that you don’t think it’s natural. You might as well say he’s getting injections in the tunnel to the clubhouse between innings. If you don’t think he’s doing it, then don’t throw it out there.

I love the Memorial Day caps this year. Navy and white with stars and stripes in the logo.

Are red colored teams rockin' the same thing or they got something to go with their uniforms?

Edit: Just checked the MLB shop and Angels, Red Sox, etc. are going Red & White. Kinda strange the Rockies and Pirates are going red this year.

DaveWadding 05-30-2011 05:45 PM

The Cubs are red and white. looks awful.

The correct answer for his last start was: d) Sucking

Now he gets another chance tonight!

Bartolo Colon is awesome. He's the only pitcher I don't get tired of watching, no matter how many innings he throws.

Pirates were blue for the past few years, but were red before that, so it's not THAT out there for them. I'd personally like to see one year when they're at home them rock a white hat with a red or blue P. The white hat wouldn't work as well with the grey "away" unis.

I see Jo-Jo Reyes didn't make history today.

Nothing infuriates me about Yahoo more than the inability in some leagues to drop a player who has already played on a given day. Typically, you can apply the transaction to the next day.

Means I basically can never make moves since I have no access to Yahoo at work.

Gertner 05-31-2011 02:21 PM

Jo Jo Reyes for Cy Young!!!!!

Oh and the Hawk is retarded, but that isn't a surprise to anybody.

I know in the TPWW roto league you can make moves for that day which is why you can't drop someone thats already played. In the other tpww league any moves you make apply for the next day and it doesnt matter if the player has played or not. So thats the difference.

Dice-K Matsuzaka out for the season as he needs Tommy John surgery and his career as a Red Sox also possibly done since his current contract ends in 2012. The Red Sox were hoping at least this year to improve Dice-K's value for a potential trade deadline move.

Red Sox offered him to rest and then do some tests later but also told him if he failed, then he would need surgery. Dice-K ended up deciding to save those few months and go with the surgery now.

DAMN iNATOR 06-02-2011 11:15 AM

Can't believe that Minnesota player actually thought it'd be a good idea, top 9th, 2 men on base, his team trailing Detroit 6-4 with 1 out, count on him is 0-2.

So what does this jackass do? He bunts, and it jumps backwards for a foul ball, but a foul on a bunt on 0-2 automatically counts as strike 3. LOL. Wish I could've been there after the game to see if Ron Gardenhire or any of his teammates bitched him out for that.

Hopefully the Red Sox insured his contract. They've lost enough money on Dice-K as it is after the 2008 season.

Kyle Drabek's control issues sure caught up with him last night. Ugh, that was terrible.

Padres have the bats rolling tonight. Well, for their standards, the bats are rolling. Ludwick continues to stay hot and drives another run, as does recent call up Aaron Cunningham. Chris Denorfia bested Petco with a HR to straight away CF.

My Pads are up 3 to 1 on Houston. If the pen finishes it off, Dustin Mosley will have yet another well deserved win.
