A number of WWE workers were really bummed hearing he was let go as he was well liked by the wrestlers.

Can't say that I care, hate his refereeing.

lol what? How do you hate someones refereeing?

Xero 02-26-2010 08:57 PM

Maybe hate's a strong word, but I don't like the way he counts, which is like 80% of noticeable refereeing.

jerichoholicninja 02-26-2010 09:12 PM

His count was weird and long. However, he seemed to be the number 2 or 3 ref as he usually did the main events if Mike Chioda or Little Naitch didn't.

lol are you serious?

Xero 02-26-2010 09:18 PM

Yes.

Juan 02-26-2010 09:20 PM

I dunno, seems like kind of a dumb thing to notice or even get upset at.

Just my 2 cents

Xero 02-26-2010 09:21 PM

Who said I was upset? I don't like his counting, that's all.

And I notice stupid things like that, I'm kind of ADD with background stuff.

Juan 02-26-2010 09:29 PM

So what is it about his counting that you don't like?

Xero 02-26-2010 09:30 PM

Too slow and the way he actually hit the mat.

Metal Gear Yoshi 02-26-2010 09:34 PM

To be fair I've heard people talk about this in other forums, Armstrong's counting that is.

screech 02-26-2010 09:35 PM

Only ref gripe I really have is on Hebner, and how he kicks his legs out on a two count. Ruins suspense for me.

Favre4Ever 02-26-2010 09:50 PM

Maria is really hot and will be sorely missed. However, I'm glad I won't have to see her in a match again.

As for Helms, here's another example of a guy with all the talent in the world, but he just wasn't going to go over in the WWE. He might make MONEY in the WWE, and he might have had a degree of job security for quite some time, but he was never going to be used to his full potential. I hope some big things happen for him in the independent circuit, or even TNA.

When Teddy Long was a ref he constantly pissed me off the same way, clearly wasn't a good ref but always got to be involved in good matches, which annoyed me.

Juan 02-27-2010 12:14 AM

Well then, I guess I'm the crazy one here for not knowing/caring about the refs.

Xero 02-27-2010 12:15 AM

lol I remember a year or so ago a guy came in who would literally jump like a foot for each count. He didn't last long.

Londoner 02-27-2010 12:15 AM

Yes, you're crazy, we know this!

Juan becomes two, for I also do not know/care about the refs. Pretty much background noise to me.

Mr. Nerfect 02-27-2010 01:24 AM

Maria surprised the hell out of me, but The Hurricane and Paul Burchill were sort of expected. If Burchill does some crazy awesome work in Japan, I could see him back in the WWE one day. Helms is best going to TNA.

glanville6 02-27-2010 03:01 AM

I'm hoping Goldust isn't next...would like to see an angle with Cody after Wrestlemania- either with or against Cody.

Mr. Nerfect 02-27-2010 03:50 AM

To be honest, I could see Goldust going pretty easily. The dude can be entertaining, but he's getting up there in years. They might offer him a position as a road agent or something. He's not the easiest guy to insert places, though, and he's one of those guys I can easily see the RAW or SmackDown! teams "having nothing" for.

Tyler Reks is another guy who could be released given a moment's notice. Curt Hawkins, as much as I think he has potential, could also go. Charlie Haas, Funaki, Mike Knox, Primo and Slam Master J are all fairly safe picks, too, sadly.

Skippord 02-27-2010 09:06 AM

it'd be kind of sweet if they made Goldust a road agent and when he came out to break up fights he was still in Goldust attire

Mr. Nerfect 02-27-2010 09:57 AM

That would be ridiculously awesome. The WWE should put profiles up of their agents on WWE.com.

Triple Naitch 02-27-2010 10:25 AM

When I saw the "Brooklyn, Brooklyn" thread bumped, I initially thought Shad was endeavored. Now that I think about it, it is entirely possible.

Mr. Nerfect 02-27-2010 10:30 AM

It wouldn't surprise me, but I don't think it would be a good move. I've said this before, but to some degree, I think Shad could make the WWE a fair bit of profit. He's a big dude who oozes charisma; and he's not the world's worst worker. He's also got those celebrity ties that give him weight. As a heel he would be menacing, and as a face he can be entertaining enough to hold the fans' interest. It's just his attitude that runs risk of getting in the way.

erickman 02-27-2010 10:49 AM

i am suprised goldust was not a nxt trainer, i thought he did pretty good the last 2 years on ecw working with the young wrestlers. with dusty still with the wwe they will keep goldust an he has atleast 1 angle with cody.

kareru 02-27-2010 02:02 PM

to be honest i doubt we will see helms in TNA, remember all that stuff that went on between him and velvet sky? something about a porn tape if i recall

Kaz had a porn tape and what did they do? Took off his mask.

Helms has plenty of friends in TNA who could get him in there. As far as the Velvet Sky stuff goes, I don't remember anything about a sex tape. I just know they dated for a while and are apparently good friends.

Don't get me wrong, I think he does have potential. But he has been in the doghouse before and this last thing may be the final straw.

Musta been a helluva conversation between Laurinaitis and Maria:

(phone rings)
Maria: Hello?
Laurinaitis: Hey, Maria, happy birthday!
Maria: Oh, thank--
Laurinaitis: Oh, and by the way, you're fired (phone clicks; dial tone...)
Maria (thinking): :wtf:...:'(

Anyway, Goodbye Maria...we hardly knew ye. :'(:wavesad:

Maria was cool when she was the dumb interviewer. Hasn't really been entertaining since....at all...not even a little bit.

Mr. Nerfect 02-27-2010 08:25 PM

Yeah, I actually felt a lot of sympathy towards Maria's dumb character. But then she became "you go girl" Maria, and she sucked. And not in the good way.

To be honest, I can see Vladimir Kozlov going.

Call me crazy but I have yet to see any news or a move to the Smackdown or Raw Superstars page on Zach Ryder as well.....something tells me WWE has him on that potential list of people to get "future endeavors" during this round of house cleaning. Referee Scott Armstrong also got the axe as well. Call me crazy but why would someone as useless and so green in the ring like Big Zeke Jackson get the automatic move to SD and not Ryder who has appeal both as a in ring performer and his persona being over as heel. Him and Rosa reminds me of Rico and Jackie Gayda, except a heel version. Much more entertaining than a guy who can only evil grin, flex and do a uri-nage slam.

Zack Ryder is on RAW, I believe. With Rosa Mendes.

Zack Ryder defeated Primo on Superstars...but Maria was also on that same show, so who knows? At least Ryder won his match and Maria lost hers.

Evil Vito 02-27-2010 11:14 PM

Yeah, during the Ryder/Primo match they said on commentary that Ryder and Rosa had signed on with Raw, so it's a bit odd they didn't get added to the roster.

Trent Barreta and Caylen Croft wrestled on SmackDown last week, but were said to be strictly free agents. I dunno, I kinda think they'll wind up on SmackDown anyway though I guess either show could benefit from adding a team.

Vance Archer is said to be going to SmackDown by the almighty Ryan Clark but it hasn't happened on screen yet.

Vladimir Kozlov worked a dark match as a heel before Raw, not that dark matches mean much. Honestly I would rather keep him as a face and run with the Kozlov/Santino odd couple that they teased on ECW like a month ago, just because I'm not sure what else to do with him.

That leaves just Goldust and Tyler Reks as far as former ECW wrestlers go. I think they are still testing the waters with Reks as a heel and he teamed with Vance Archer before SmackDown. If they are gonna do anything with him at all, SmackDown would be the place to do it.

Goldust, however, can go pretty much anywhere but I'd guess he lands on Raw. Maybe he'll rekindle his team with Hornswoggle, since DX will likely be split soon and there's obviously no way they are releasing Hornswoggle, gotta give him something to do. I honestly wouldn't mind an Oddities-like stable with Dust, Swog, Santino, and Kozlov. :o

I don't think the ECW non-wrestlers are going to do anything outside of Josh Matthews being the backstage interviewer on both shows as well as commentating on NXT and Savannah doing her shitty ring announcing on NXT. Tiffany is working on her wrestling in FCW, Byron Saxton has gone back to managing in FCW, and The Abraham Washington Show was run during the last set of FCW tapings with someone else subbing in for Tony Atlas.

Christ, I wrote way too long a post.

Mr. Nerfect 02-28-2010 12:12 AM

Abraham Washington should be on RAW. It's just the best place for his antics. This means Tony Atlas to RAW, which is also good, because Mark Henry is there.

I'm not sure what Byron Saxton is like as a manager, but I'd like to see him do something. Even if he just starts representing John Morrison, or something. Shelton Benjamin could also use a voice. Saxton as a face manager would be interesting. It seems that the RAW Guest Host shit is ending, too, so Saxton could become General Manager there.

Caylen Croft & Trent Barreta would probably be used better on SmackDown!. I wouldn't mind seeing them trying to get Vickie Guerrero and/or Theodore Long to split the Unified WWE Tag Team Championship.

Goldust could probably do some good as a road agent or FCW trainer. If you want him on an official roster, though -- go with RAW. Josh Mathews being an official RAW brand interviewer would be pretty good, too. I wouldn't mind it if they took the Michael Cole/Josh Mathews dynamic to RAW, and had a three-person team with King for a while. Maybe just see how it goes.

Savannah could do backstage interviewing on SmackDown! as well as her NXT stuff. Tiffany is one of the hardest, as it would make sense to have her become the RAW General Manager, but she seems like she could use the time on SmackDown! to better develop. Vance Archer and Tyler Reks would be better used on SmackDown!, in my opinion. Vladimir Kozlov can just get released.

Then move Teddy Long to be Raw GM, Vickie Guerrero is promoted to Smackdown GM, Tiffany becomes Smackdown assistant GM.

The more I think about it, the more it seems like Charlie Haas will be on his way out. If Vance Archer goes to SmackDown I can definitely see him teaming with Mike Knox. Both are big guys, both have ruthless sort of characters, hell their entrance themes and trons are even similar. But that would mean the Knox/Haas "team" would be done with (even though they only teamed sparingly to begin with).

Mr. Nerfect 02-28-2010 10:06 PM

NOOOOOOO!!!! Stop now, #1-wwf-fan!

Seriously, though, out of all the guys released, I most feel sorry for Charlie Haas. Just because his skills are probably the least transferable. Paul Burchill could do well for himself in TNA, as he can move around the ring well and be a great monster for the X-Division. Gregory Helms could team with Shannon Moore, do X-Division work, or even achieve more there. Maria is hot, and could get them some attention. Charlie Haas, though? He's a fantastic wrestler, but you see how little actual wrestling they put on TV.

ROHwrestling.com has a thread basically asking ROH to sign Charlie Haas. From a pure wrestling standpoint that'd be a match made in heaven.

However, I get the feeling Charlie Haas will be wrestling in Japan, more money there for him.

I hope ROH pays attention to that thread. Especially because Charlie Haas is perfect for ROH. But last time they didn't really pay much attention to him. This initiative people are taking on the ROH Forums is a good sign, though.

If I'm not mistaken Low-Ki dedicated his ROH Championship win on Russ Haas. Just an intresting thing to note if Charlie winds up in ROH.

Every time WWE fires someone even remotely talented, there's a "Bring in" thread.

This is nothing new.

Ah, well that sucks. I hope to see Haas in ROH. I think he could add a lot there. I actually think he could do well in TNA, too. Would not mind seeing him share Ric Flair as a manager, actually. For some reason, I've always thought that those two would mesh together so well.
