Boise State basically needs everyone else to lose about 2 games.

RP 10-17-2010 09:30 PM

Gotta love ESPN hyping a fake story to make news. All week long talking about Boise St. will be #1 in the BCS poll.

What a joke news channel they are honestly.

The Gods have to shine on Purdue this week. I mean, Robbie Hummell tearing his knee again. Come on. Purdue needs this win over OSU. The Gods have to give this school a break.

D Mac 10-24-2010 04:09 AM

Where's Colorado? Oh that's right they aren't ranked.

Vastardikai 10-24-2010 04:28 AM

What does Boise St. have to do to be considered a #1 team?

Move to a 'stronger' conference?

Because clearly, beating everyone isn't enough.

Supreme Olajuwon 10-24-2010 04:43 AM

Feel like Missouri should be penalized for having pants that don't match the rest of their uniform. Yellow and gold are not the same color.

DAMN iNATOR 10-24-2010 04:05 PM

WOW. What an amazing comeback for MSU to go 8-0 yesterday. If they can get by an extremely tough, and sure-to-be-pissed off Iowa Hawkeyes squad, it could be a 12-0 season easily. But, as Coach D says, gotta stay focused. One week at a time.

Emperor Smeat 10-24-2010 05:35 PM

BCS Top 5 rankings:

1) Oregon
2) Boise State
3) Auburn
4) TCU
5) Michigan State

After #4, the rest of the Top 10 is about 200 points behind TCU. Oregon has a strong enough of a lead in points to ensure at least a spot in the title game as long as they don't lose.

D Mac 10-24-2010 06:48 PM

Mizzou isn't even in the top 5 after beating #1? Gay

They are ranked #7 and behind #6 Alabama by a good amount.

D Mac 10-24-2010 06:57 PM

Well if we beat Nebraska next week, that should elevate them some.

Emperor Smeat 10-24-2010 08:42 PM

Posted the wrong poll numbers earlier since ESPN leaked the AP Poll and not BCS Poll. Hate when they do that since normally they just post BCS poll and then later the less important AP Poll.

1) Auburn (.931)
2) Orgeon (.906)
3) Boise State (.884)
4) TCU (.883)
5) Michigan State (.838)
6) Missouri
7) Alabama
8) Utah
9) Oklahoma
10) Wisconsin

Apparently the BCS and other polls over-valued the undefeated battle of Auburn vs LSU and the power of SEC to make Auburn jump to #1.

The way Boise State is being ranked means its almost impossible for them to be in the title game unless Auburn, Oregon, Michigan State, and maybe Missouri with Alabama lose.

RP 10-24-2010 11:10 PM

Lets face reality. Boise State wont ever play in a title game. They could win all there games by 80 points and beat 2 ranked teams a year, the NCAA wont let it happen. It's not good money.

It's sad, but that's what college football is today. Auburn is good money. Oregon, OSU, OU. All good money. Boise State is not. And they wont let any numbers show Boise State as #1 or #2. They'll give them #3 and a BCS game against TCU as a pat on the back.

It's just the way it is.

It's far from a given that Michigan State will go 12-0, but should they beat Iowa Saturday, they've got a pretty light schedule afterwards with Minnesota, Purdue and Penn State as the final 3 games. At worst they should finish no less than 11-1 unless they just completely fall apart in the last 4 weeks.

ClockShot 10-30-2010 06:22 PM

Nebraska and Iowa came to play today. Gonna be another interesting BCS after tonight is over.

Emperor Smeat 10-30-2010 06:39 PM

ESPN has been sort of trashing Auburn today during their game saying how they are not a championship calibur team mainly on offense once Ole Miss showed some toughness.

Earlier in the day, ESPN had been saying how an Oregon v Auburn or Oregon v Alabama would be the best BCS title game matchups. When Auburn gained the #1 seed, they never said anything bad about the team either.

McLegend 10-30-2010 06:53 PM

Crazy fucking day today!

The Genius 11-07-2010 09:36 PM

Wisconsin at #5. They could easily win out against IU, Mich, and NW and end up with a share of the Big 10 title and a BCS bowl spot.

Nervous Ferret 11-08-2010 12:19 PM

College football is absolutely amazing. Every single year all the stupid analysts say "This is a crazy/amazing/unprecedented year". This happens every single year. It is madness, I tell you. And I love it.

Nervous Ferret 11-08-2010 12:24 PM

What if Oregon and Auburn both lose? What if?????????? They'd never stand to have TCU/Boise as the title game. TCU probably has to get the nod over Boise right now. TCU vs. Auburn/LSU. Would love to see Oregon/TCU actually. As long as TCU and Boise don't end up playing each other again in the Fiesta Bowl. ugh. Have to see these two vs. some real AQ conference teams

RP 11-08-2010 12:28 PM

I'm quietly rooting for LSU because you just dont know what Les Miles might try. I could see 4 fake punts and a couple 4th and longs happen in a BCS Championship game.

Emperor Smeat 11-14-2010 01:11 AM

Shockingly, its possible for LSU to actually reach the BCS title game without winning the SEC West division or SEC championship.

Auburn would have to lose vs Alabama and then vs S. Carolina (SEC title game) and LSU can actually jump to #1 or #2 due to how the computer rates things.

Some already predict LSU to be ranked #3/#4 once this week's poll is released to start that scenario.

The Genius 11-14-2010 11:19 PM

wisconsin projected for a rose bowl spot. oregon will probably wind up in the national championship so i guess that means Stanford represents the pac 10 in the rose bowl.

So glad Auburn won..

No one wants to see BSU and TCU in the National Championship..

Emperor Smeat 11-26-2010 06:28 PM

Also ended up killing LSU's slim chance at even trying to be in the title game since the computers had a scenario where LSU could be in the title game without being the SEC champion or a division champion.

Kris P Lettus 11-26-2010 06:47 PM

Fuck LSU..

James Steele 11-26-2010 07:14 PM

Auburn would have to be royally fucked over by these bullshit allegations in order not to be in the BCS Championship game and beat Oregon. Cam Newton is unfuckingreal and I think Oregon hasn't been challenged by a legitimate opponent all year.

Kris P Lettus 11-26-2010 07:18 PM

If Oregon played the sec schedule they would have lost several times this season..

They probably would have been a 1-2 loss team in the pathetic Big 12 this year. I'm an OU fan and know the Big 12 is a giant clusterfuck this year. I really hope the Big 12 tries to get TCU and Houston to join and make it 12 teams again. Ideally, they'd try and get LSU and Arkansas but that'd be next to impossible.

Kris P Lettus 11-26-2010 07:34 PM

If they cut them a big enough slice of the pie they would, but then they'd piss off Texas and OU and virtually fuck over all the schools that stayed (LOL MIZZOU...even if they whooped my beloved Sooners' ass).

If they added TCU and Houston to the South division and moved OU and OSU to the North, it would strengthen the North substantially and the South would still be pretty good.

Droford 11-27-2010 01:08 AM

Boise State's about to pull a choke job on Nevada who is pretty much their toughest opponent.

No way they make the BCS title game even if they manage to squeak this one out.

Miami (FL) fired Randy Shannon and his OC. It will be interesting to see who gets that job (as it is now the best job on the market in FBS).

Emperor Smeat 11-28-2010 01:18 AM

Sort of surprised when considering he helped clean up the image of Miami U football after the problems with previous coaches and got a 4-year extension at the start of this year.

The inconsistency of the team's QBs and weird coaching moves hurt him more especially with how their last game ended badly for them. Also didn't help all the pre-season hype about the team returning to glory meant it was impossible for another rebuilding or developing year.

Droford 11-28-2010 01:58 AM

Wisconsin's gonna get raped in the BCS later on today. Ohio State's gonna jump to #5 supposedly and take the Rose Bowl spot, probably vs TCU which is what everyone at TCU wants.

Why/How could The Blackeyes jump that high over Wisconsin?

Supreme Olajuwon 12-01-2010 07:50 AM

If Jon Gruden takes the Miami job, the U will explode. He's such a good coach and is so much better suited for college than the NFL.

Emperor Smeat 12-01-2010 10:36 PM

NCAA clears Cam Newton to play in the SEC title game and if Auburn wins, most likely for the BCS title game.

The "WTF" part of the whole announcement is the NCAA basically said the pay for play allegations were true and half-punished Cam Newton's dad and agent by saying all they need to do is nothing and lie low (Cam's father) and verbally disassociate with the school (the agent). Auburn gets no penalty or violations either from the ruling.

If Auburn wins the BCS, will that make 5 or 6 straight years an SEC team has won it? I don't know why, but I think it'll be 6, but I've been wrong about this stuff before.

2010-Alabama
2009-Florida
2008-LSU
2007-Florida

Who won it in 2006?

McLegend 12-02-2010 03:38 PM

Texas

Emperor Smeat 12-02-2010 04:45 PM

With the way ESPN and others hype up the SEC, you'd think they have always won the title or been in every title game but the SEC didn't get that automatic spot until 2006-2007 season.

Before that year, the SEC usually ended up beating each other up in records with just 2 appearances before Florida in 2007. Now you get the usual SEC vs Big 10/12 except for the Texas-USC game.

The SEC is overrated like a mother fucker. It is 9-10 average to above average teams that beat the hell out of each other with 1-2 dominant teams every year.

EDIT: I should have also added, that is what EVERY major conference is. Look at the Big 10 and Big XII (and now Pac 10 since USC got neutered) - a bunch of average teams beating each other up with 1-2 dominant teams.
