Dez Bryant managed to lose about $850,000 in under a week after a couple of lawsuits and debt payments during a time when the NFLPA kept sending reminders for everyone to save their money and be wise with it.

He's been soo horrible with his money that he already hired a debt manager or accountant to make sure he doesn't go broke before the next NFL season is possible.

CHICAGO -- Bears great William "The Refrigerator" Perry has his 1985 Super Bowl ring back on his finger, thanks to a 10-year-old boy.
Cliff Forrest of Fox Chapel, Pa., took $8,500 out of his college savings account to buy Perry's Super Bowl ring in New York.
"He only played in one Super Bowl," Cliff said. "I thought he would want it more than I did."
So the boy asked his father if he could give the ring back to Perry, who has been diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome. The autoimmune disease attacks the nervous system and can cause paralysis.
Cliff Forrest Sr. said he wouldn't have approved the purchase.
"I would not have permitted the purchase myself, but his mother is a little more soft-hearted," Forrest said.
But Cliff admires Perry and had heard of the Bears' famous Super Bowl XX-winning team. Cliff's parents agreed to their son's request and set out to return the ring to Perry, taking a flight to Chicago and giving the former football player his ring before an autograph session.
"He was very appreciative and he said, 'Thank you,'" Cliff said.
In return, Perry gave the boy two autographed jerseys signed: "The Fridge, Thanks!"
Perry won't say how his Super Bowl ring ended up for sale. These days, he said he is doing better, though sometimes he uses a battery-powered scooter.
"I'm up and moving around," he said. "I'm doing what I like to do best -- fishing."
His former coach, Mike Ditka, believes Perry looks good, too.
"It's the best I've seen him look in a long time," Ditka said. "He's really working at it."
Perry played 10 seasons in the NFL. The defensive lineman and occasional goal-line running back became a national celebrity during his rookie season with the Bears in 1985, helping them win the Super Bowl title.
Even the Fridge has money problems..

Barring Ingram falling, I can't see the Giants not taking an offensive lineman. Pouncey or Castanzo would be ideal.

IC Champion 04-11-2011 02:32 PM

Mark Ingram is not worth a first rounder, IMO. I wouldn't waste a pick on a running back in the first round, and probably not even in the second unless I really needed one. RBs are a dime a dozen, and most teams have 2 or 3 guys who can carry the load. It's not like the pre-2000's when teams ran on first and second down majority of the time. So Unless you plan on drafting a guy to run the ball 300 plus times, a first rounder just isnt worth it anymore. In fact it may be years before we see another RB takin in the top 10, barring someone special like an AP is avaliable.

Peyton Hillis vs Mike Vick for the madden Cover

I think a white dude's gonna make the cover.

Droford 04-19-2011 10:30 PM

Its that time of year when Droford (correctly) predicts the Ravens 2011 Season ridiculously early (especially this year..)

Bold = Win

Steelers at Ravens 1:00 PM
Ravens at Titans 1:00 PM
Ravens at Rams 4:05 PM
Jets at Ravens 8:20 PM SNF
BYE
Texans at Ravens 4:05 PM
Ravens at Jaguars 8:30 PM MNF
Cardinals at Ravens 1:00 PM
Ravens at Steelers 8:20 PM SNF
Ravens at Seahawks 4:05 PM
Bengals at Ravens 1:00 PM
49ers at Ravens 8:20 PM Thanksgiving
Ravens at Browns 1:00 PM
Colts at Ravens 1:00 PM
Ravens at Chargers 8:20 PM SNF
Browns at Ravens 1:00 PM
Ravens at Bengals 1:00 PM

11-5 at a minimum, and thats losing all the big games. Ravens have played well in/vs SD lately so I'll give them that win, 1 win vs Pittsburgh, and since its in Baltimore I'll give them the Jets game. 14-2! Awesome. AFC South/NFC West games are all winable with the exception of the Colts game.

FINALLY THANKSGIVING NFL HAS COME TO BALTIMORE..HARBAUGH BOWL 2011

Team Sheep 04-20-2011 10:49 AM

The Jets have Dallas at home to open on Sunday Night Football. New York vs America's Team on the 10th Anniversary of 9/11, they sure know how to market these things. Should be an epic night.

For once the Jets don't have to play the Patriots at home in one of the first 2 weeks of the season. Jets vs Giants on Christmas Eve will be awesome. Dolphins away on New Year's Day will be fun. Hosting San Diego and a road game at Baltimore are intriguing. Really exciting schedule. I'm also glad they're playing the Raiders away in week 3, will seriously be looking to plan a weekend in the Bay Area for that.

Saints opening the season for the third time in 5 years..

Evil Vito 04-21-2011 12:41 PM

God dammit NFL. 3rd year in a row that the Giants have a heavily backloaded schedule.

Giants open in Washington on 9/11. One NY team vs. "America's Team" (my ass) and the other NY team vs. the nation's capital team. Given what day and anniversary it is I'm sure those were planned by design.

I too am pumped about the Giants/Jets Christmas Eve Game. Many people in the NY market aren't, though. I can sorta understand why. A lot of people may flat out not be able to go, plus the media world practically shuts down the week before Christmas so it won't get as much hype as it could have.

Aguakate 04-21-2011 01:54 PM

...It's the 10th Anniversary of 9/11...should've just had the Jets play the Giants on 9/11 to kick off the season.

Brandon Marshall stabbed by his wife but in stable condition.

Due to the strict lockout rules, Miami coaches can't even call him to see how he's doing or if they might need to get another WR. Only team doctors can talk to Marshall's doctors and then relay the information to the team.

Kris P Lettus 04-23-2011 07:15 PM

Just the other day, when Goodell called Ochocinco just to talk, league lawyers were asked why he could talk to players and coaches couldn't. Turns out teams can talk to players, as long as its not business related. Whether coaches know this or not isn't known. NFL has no way to prove whats a personal or a business call, making this shit all the more ridiculous

This prediction is assuming the Cardinals get a half decent QB (Kolb, Palmer, Bulger etc)

Wk Date Matchup
1 Sun. Sep. 11 vs. Panthers
2 Sun. Sep. 18 at Redskins

3 Sun. Sep. 25 at Seahawks
4 Sun. Oct. 02 vs. Giants
5 Sun. Oct. 09 at Vikings
6 BYE
7 Sun. Oct. 23 vs. Steelers
8 Sun. Oct. 30 at Ravens
9 Sun. Nov. 06 vs. Rams
10 Sun. Nov. 13 at Eagles
11 Sun. Nov. 20 at 49ers
12 Sun. Nov. 27 at Rams
13 Sun. Dec. 04 vs. Cowboys
14 Sun. Dec. 11 vs. 49ers
15 Sun. Dec. 18 vs. Browns
16 Sat. Dec. 24 at Bengals
17 Sun. Jan. 01 vs. Seahawks

I was optimistic on a couple, so it's 9-7. But I would expect 7-9 or 8-8 just as much.

DaveBrawl 04-27-2011 07:45 PM

FearedSanctity 04-27-2011 07:52 PM

Peyton was awesome an all, but RBs are so replaceable nowadays that's it hard for me to really care

Skippord 04-27-2011 11:58 PM

also he didn't practice hard at all when he was here

FearedSanctity 04-28-2011 01:37 AM

NFL is getting into some serious shit by constantly refusing to do as the Judge has ordered. She says the offseason was to start immediately and they insist on putting it off to a time of their convenience. Then they ask her to clarify, she does and they still ignore it. Contempt of court is some serious shit.

Or as Florio puts it...

Quote:

Earlier tonight, I explained that the league’s flirtation with a finding of contempt of court has intensified in the wake of Judge Susan Nelson’s order denying the NFL’s request for a stay of the ruling lifting the lockout. After reading the full text of her latest written opinion, I need to revise that.

It’s no longer flirtation. It’s beyond flirtation. It’s beyond courtship. We’re convinced that, if the league doesn’t open for business immediately, the league will be in contempt of court.
As deep of shit as the NFL is getting into now with the players pretty much owning their asses AND a possible contempt of court charge, think Goodell's ass my be on the line soon?

Emperor Smeat 04-28-2011 03:01 AM

The NFL has lost every case dealing with the players in court with something around 0-4 or 0-5 record regardless of the judge.

The NFL really doesn't want the players to earn any extra cash even if it means loosing money and fan support in both the short and long term. They even tried weeks ago to lock away $2 billion from the $9 billion in play due to some tv or BS excuse that nobody bought.

The ironic part is the players do agree the rookie pay scale is out of control and needs to be fixed but they need a new CBA to do it.

SlickyTrickyDamon 04-28-2011 08:48 PM

The rookie pay scale problem could be eased if NCAA would allow some sort of compensation for their players. They make so much money off of those players with the dream that they could one day be on an NFL team.

When you get a rookie you aren't only paying for the years he will be playing for your team. You are paying for the four years they busted their ass for NO pay.

The problem stems from the NCAA and i don't think a new CBA will be able to fully fix the problem. No other professional sport kisses the ass of the college ranks than the NFL. At every game you are told what college the players went to and you don't really get that with the other sports.

Yeah, that's why Denver's had such an easy time finding a reliable running back after Clinton Portis left. They're all replaceable.

Cowboys are penciled to take Tyron Smith. For some reason I'd rather have Castonzo, seems Smith might be injury prone and more of a bust factor. So we'll seeee

Shocked at Panthers taking Newton due to how bad their O-Line is but they decided to give up 1-2 years worth of training him in the NFL throw style so he can scramble. Similar to the Falcons taking Vick but at least the Falcons had a much better O-Line at the time.

Also shocked Bengals didn't take a QB if Palmer really is leaving.
