CARTHAGE - Former professional wrestler Matt Hardy sparked about 30 calls to Moore County 911 dispatchers late Tuesday when he posted ominous messages on social media that led fans to fear he was planning to kill himself.

Hardy, a former member of the famous Hardy Boyz wrestling team, and a prolific voice on social media posted a video on YouTube titled "Goodbye" around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The video contains simple scrolling text and the message:

"My time here is almost complete, I have only a few hours & minutes, I have loved you all."

Within an hour of the video being posted and linked on the social networking site Twitter, Moore County sheriff's deputies received 25 to 30 calls asking for police to check on the 36-year-old at his home in the 300 block of Boys Camp Road in Cameron, said Capt. Henry Marion with the sheriff's office.

But when Marion and another deputy showed up at Hardy's home, he said, there were no problems.

"I shook his hand," Marion said, "and he told me everything is fine."

The apparent hoax drew immediate reaction from commenters on Twitter and YouTube.

A North Carolina Highway Patrol trooper arrested Matt Hardy Aug. 20 on a charge of driving while impaired after he crashed his 2009 Chevrolet Corvette into a tree in Moore County.

Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, the company Matt and Jeff Hardy worked for most recently, fired Matt Hardy last week following his arrest.

They are promoting and employing a man who has been convicted of drug use/distribution. And this isn't really like what happened with RVD and his marijuana bust after he won the WWE Title. Hardy was obviously into some heroin or oxycontin (opiates), which is some serious shit. And atleast WWE was smart enough to demote RVD to the third tier show and pretty much never let him near the main event again (which was a fucking shame, since I love RVD, but in the end he's the one who fucked up). TNA is basically saying that it's okay to like this drug addict monster.

It really makes the CM Punk/Hardy feud from a couple years ago that much more awesome, actually.
