At 1:40 theres a voice over - That sounds an awful lot like Terence Stamp, or is it someone else?
|
Probably Malekith played by Christopher Eccleston
|
No probably about it, it's definitely him. Although he's poshing it up a bit.

I don't think there's anything new here, but posting it for completeness:

who/what is that
|
Malekeith (or however it is spelled), some sort of Dark Elf from some other Norse Land. The main baddie of the film.

"I'm Loki, you may have heard of m-" *SLAP* Damn near killed a whole ice planet, tried to subjugate Earth, killed like 80-something people in two days (likely more during the New York battle), then he comes out of Asgard prison and he's like, "Hey it's my bro's girlfriend, let me introduce myself." I love this man. |

I get it, because there were elves in LotRs. Brilliant!
|
This movie looks great. Even with a subpar villain.

Just got back, not bad but not the best of the Avengers films for me. Not even sure what it was really, just missed something to really grip me into the story. Might've been a bit to heavy on the physics/fantasy mumbo jumbo for my personal liking. Still, a solid "episode" to add to the series. Tom Hiddleston stole the show again.
SPOILER: show There's two post credit scenes if you hadn't already heard, rather than just the one, so stick around... Twice. |

Fucking awesome.

malkeith was an amazing bad guy.
|
#1 comedy of the year.
|
Like Avengers there's some serious lulz here.
|
Seriously though, this is my favorite of the solo films thus far. Love that all the supporting characters get a lot more time to shine. Especially liked Frigga's scenes.
Malekith was great. It's true he wasn't a particularly deep villain, but a complex villain isn't always needed. The movie is more about the other characters and their interactions with each other. In these cases though, the villain needs to be very intimidating, and seem very powerful. They accomplished this with malekith. Final battle was great. One of the better superhero movie fights I'd say. Also for Sixx: SPOILER: show |

Also, really want to have intercourse with Kat Dennings and Natalie Portman. |
I do see what Iggy was saying about the techno babble, but its really only a couple scenes in the first part of the movie where they lay it on a little thick.
It is one of those scenes though, that is obviously like "OK audience! Pay attention because we are going to explain some shit right here. SPOILER: show |
The final battle had a very fun gimmick with some cool shots.
|
Man of Steel sucked.

Anyone complaining about to much time on Earth and a lack of action in the first movie will have their thirsts amply sated here. Lots of action and a lot of it on Asgard.
Were rumors that the art direction was going to lean more towards the medieval side but if anything, it amps up the sci-fi. I have no problem with that as A.) the sci-fi element is what really distinguishes Marvel's Thor from the many other adaptations of Norse mythology out there, and B.) this movie is based on elements from Simonson's run which used the sci-fi side of Thor to great effect. |
Iron Man 3, Thor 2, trailers for Winter Soldier and GOTG look fantastic.
Phase 2 is fucking awesome so far. |
Should add though that my opinion might be biased, as Thor is my favorite comic, and Walt Simonson's run is my favorite from that book sooooooo your experience may be different.

THE FUCKING GAUNTLET IS COMING TOGETHER PEOPLE
HE'S COMING |

As for the movie itself I loved it. This was a real showcase of Helmsworth and Hiddleston and how they can interact with characters that have grown. My only complaint, if you can call it that, is fucking Hopkins phoning it in a lot. Towards the end he gets better but the scene between him and Thor near the begining? Could he have read that line any fucking faster? |

An average watch for me. Felt like the typical cookie cutter MCU film. Everything was so, convenient.
That being said, thoroughly enjoyed Hiddleston, and the guy who plays Heimdall. As mentioned, the action sequences, especially the ones featuring Frigga and Thor's uhh, tiff with Loki. The cameo (not Stan Lee) was the funniest scene. Loved both the mid and post credit scenes. |
Pretty ok flick. Initial reaction has me liking the first Thor movie better. Probably in a very slim minority about that one.
|
With the Blu-Ray release of Thor: The Dark World on February 25, will come the latest Marvel One-Shot, which will be entitled "All Hail the King"
|
Bear in mind Ben Kingsley recently did a One-Shot, so I don't think this is a Loki thing like people think.
