Corporate CockSnogger 03-11-2013 07:00 PM

Oh actually "Torture Division". Are they a really aggressive Joy Divison tribute act?

El Vaquero de Infierno 03-11-2013 07:33 PM

Go listen to some Pig Destroyer. That will put some hair on mardy scouse chest.

CSL 03-11-2013 07:40 PM

you should look for song names from bands like Prostitute Disfigurement, Fucksaw, Cock and Ball Torture etc ;)

CSL 03-11-2013 07:42 PM

for example, currently listening to "When Girls Learn To Piss On Command" by Cock and Ball Torture. It sounds like somebody rhythmically sucking the last bits of the milkshake from the Maccies cup, burping and a drain emptying. Shit is hilarious

Corporate CockSnogger 03-11-2013 07:45 PM

@ both of you, I tried listening to Pig Destroyer when you mentioned them in 100,000 replies and it felt like I was being injected with the plague. I do occasionally listen to the random bands as well just to see what disgusting things go on in the minds of metalheads. Not really in the mood for it now though.

CSL 03-11-2013 07:48 PM

pffft well fine, Rotting Away Is Better Than Being Gay and Kamikazee Incest will still be there tomorrow

Corporate CockSnogger 03-11-2013 07:52 PM

Can't for the life of me remember what those bands were called that I was listening to the other week. I chronicled it in 100k replies but I can't be arsed searching for them.

Triple Naitch 03-11-2013 08:07 PM

Should look up some Anal Cunt tracks as a start.

their first album specifically. love the clean vocals and acoustic guitar mixed into the black metal.

The Destroyer 03-12-2013 04:01 AM

Going to get a lot more diverse from there. :y:

And don't be a fool Iggy, Crippled Black Phoenix aren't a metal band, so they don't count.

Amazing, the vocals really do sound exactly like that.

This sounds right up my street. Gonna give these a listen now, starting with the track "Hitler was a sensitive man"

Corporate CockSnogger 03-12-2013 01:55 PM

Well, 50 seconds later and that song's over. Time for the next track "I Just Saw The Gayest Guy On Earth"

Corporate CockSnogger 03-12-2013 02:01 PM

Some quite beautiful harmonies on that track, it must be said.

The Destroyer 03-12-2013 02:26 PM

I've never actually heard Anal Cunt, oddly. Not really in any rush to either.

Besides Rob Zombie, the Mayhem Festival looks tainted. Not a fan of Five Finger Death Punch.

Asmo 03-20-2013 11:38 PM

Started watching the Metal Evolution series by Sam Dunn. Anyone seen it in entirety?

The Condor 03-21-2013 12:16 AM

For the first time in a few years, probably will not be attending Mayhem. 5 Finger Death Punch was ok a few years back but they have Disturbed syndrome: you've seen them once and there is no need to see them again.

Heisenberg 04-06-2013 11:16 AM

I left a concert they headlined after they came on and did 2 songs, wasn't into them.

Leaning on a way to just see Zombie at Mayhem, my friend is forcing me into going. He was under the impression though of Slayer being there, and I informed him that he was looking at another lineup from the past.

The Condor 04-06-2013 11:20 AM

The year Slayer played was headlined by, I think Korn. Left after Slayer who I also had the privilege of seeing at the Big 4 Yankees Stadium show with Anthrax, Megadeth and 'Tallica. Damn they were awesome.

Heisenberg 04-06-2013 11:24 AM

Slayer main staged in 2009 with Manson for Mayhem. It was brutal and everything I imagined it would be.

When I saw Dethklok last December, I witnessed some awesome shit there too. Guy coming out of the pile all fucked up, people carrying him to get patched up. He seemed to be more sorry than the ppl that moshed him rough.

Anyone check out David Draiman's new band Device? Industrial type project. Might peep some of the shit out later. Didn't know if it is worth my time, with my bad luck of side project listening.

Been constantly listening to Dethklok. They never fail me.

Asmo 04-23-2013 02:28 AM

Been on an Iron Maiden binge since the last week. Fuck. I love this band. Allow me to indulge. Getting a tad nostalgic.

"Alright kids, let me tell you about the time i had dinner with Iron Maiden..."

Quote:

I started listening to metal via Metallica and Megadeth, but the band that really got me in to the genre was Iron Maiden. Brave New World to be precise, and everything off The Best Of The Beast. The guys who got me in to metal gave me access to a VCD of Rock In Rio, and that was my first taste of what a Maiden gig was like. I wanted in. This was around 2003, i think.

I gave up my first chance to catch the band live when they played Bangalore in 2007. My parents didn’t let me travel to another city to watch them, and in retaliation, i locked myself in my room for a day playing Maiden tunes on the guitar, and whining. Like any teenage situation that doesn’t work for you, this was the end of my world.

Anyways, i got out of the slump and continued the Maiden worship. Cue September 2007: Maiden confirm another gig in India in Feb 2008, and this time, they play the city i live in, Bombay. So while that news had me ecstatic and bouncing around like the energizer bunny, it got me to think of a way to meet the band.

I joined a local newspaper as a freelance music correspondent the very next day, and worked hard enough to get the editor to grant me complete freedom on what i wrote about. The purpose – meet Adrian Smith and Steve Harris. But being a small local paper, labels and concert organisers rarely sent out material or invites to us. As the day of the concert came closer, i tried all that i could to setup an interview with the band, but to no avail. Disappointment was an understatement.

The band would play Bombay on Feb 1, and word got around that they would arrive two days earlier. I missed their arrival, but got wind of a ‘press conference’ the same evening. After haggling with the PR team to recognize me as ‘legit’, and forcing the editor to give me a press id (which was only meant for employees), i managed to smuggle inside the small conference room at the Marriot.

All my “journalistic behaviour” was thrown out of the window as soon as the six walked in two hours later. The first thing i did was pull out the CDs i bought along and a marker, while the other grizzled reporters took out notepads and pens. The next hour and a half went by in a blur. Not only did i get the chance to meet, get pictures and autographs with all of them (except Dave, who disappeared as soon as the conference ended), i also interviewed Adrian, dined with Steve and Janick, and to round it all of, met Sam Dunn as well.

As regards the concert, it was everything that i’d hoped for and more. I battled my way to the second row, right in front of Adrian, and screamed and shouted till i lost my voice. Maiden remains one of the best live acts i’ve ever seen, and they didn’t disappoint that night.
TL;DR: Hatched a plan to meet Maiden by gaining media credentials. It worked.

To move this on, which band got you in to metal? And what was it like when you first saw them live? Have you met any of the band members?

Heisenberg 04-23-2013 10:06 AM

Haven't met or saw Maiden live, but I was raised around them. I have different genres I listen to, but Metal is my overall choice.

Got into Slayer in high school, and didn't see them til 2009. I felt like my face was melted off, nothing felt short. I want to drink Jager with Kerry King sometime, probably won't get to, but I can dream.

Corporate CockSnogger 04-23-2013 10:12 AM

Going to see Death Plague Vermin Corpse Rape tonight. Should be a great show.

Heisenberg 04-23-2013 10:14 AM

Some kind of demon magic happening, but they are coming to Austin, TX in September. I might have to take in the greatness that is Iron Maiden.

The Condor 04-23-2013 10:43 AM

+ 1 Billion X Infinity

Thankfully, i got to see Slayer in October last year when they came down to India with Dave Lombardo behind the kit. Surprisingly, they didn't draw a lot of crowd here - i'd peg it to around 2000 tops. Well, whoever missed the gig missed THE tightest METAL show that India's ever been witness to.

Everything was spot on. Slayer played for a good two hours. With just ONE three minute intermission - even then, Araya and Lombardo didn't leave the stage, instead choosing to interact with the audience. Played most of the big singles. And, also played "Hell Awaits", which was the first Slayer song i'd ever heard. So that was special for me.

Also managed to get Araya's plectrum.

The Condor 04-24-2013 12:53 AM

Choosing between Maiden and Slayer is like choosing between Ditka + God.

Corporate CockSnogger 04-24-2013 05:18 PM

Going to see Pigeon Corpse Vaginal Discharge this weekend. Should be a killer. Hope they play most of the "Skullfuck your crippled nephew" album, although I wouldn't be surprised to see a few tracks off of "Ice Cream Van From Hell" thrown into the set.
