No shit, Dick Tracy. My business in here simply involves dealing in facts, I just thought they might be fun for those who knew little or nothing of Mr. Sammartino's career.

Or are facts a pre-determined thing of life, too?

whiteyford 02-11-2013 06:07 PM

You're spouting them like they add legitimacy to your 'argument', I guess it's better than another fucking meme though.

SlickyTrickyDamon 02-12-2013 02:36 AM

There is no WWF without Bruno. It's not open to debate and shouldn't be open to debate. Anybody thinking Foley deserves it is simply in the mindset that "anything that happened before I was alive/started watching doesn't count." That mindset is totally warped.

whiteyford 02-12-2013 04:50 AM

I think you're giving way to much credit to one guy there.

Shisen Kopf 02-12-2013 05:58 AM

Foley is the correct answer. Other than beth82 and possibly DLVH who is now working at a Kabuki bar in Tokyo, would you rather watch a Foley match or Sammartino roll around the mat for 30 mins? Again, we know what Beth's answer will be!

Corporate CockSnogger 02-12-2013 08:08 AM

Who are the crowd at the Hall of Fame ceremony going to cheer for more? Some old fruit or the guy that says "It's so good to be back... right here, at MADISON SQUARE GARDEN!"

Keith 02-12-2013 08:15 AM

They're gonna cheer more for the guy who says "Oatmeal and Hard Work!"

whiteyford 02-12-2013 08:16 AM

It depends on what Trish is wearing.

The WWWF was a regional territory when Bruno was champ and primarily operated out of the New York area, and due to the huge Italian population Bruno was made champ. You don't let a guy hold the belt for that long if he isn't constantly bringing in fans.

So it's really not that big a stretch.

From the front page
Sammartino played hardball this time around and said during negotiations that if the deal didn’t come together this year than he would not consider joining the Hall of Fame again, to the point of telling his sons not to sign off on him being inducted after he passed away. The price that he asked for is said to be around that which a WWE main eventer would get for WrestleMania and McMahon agreed.
Pretty sure that's the definition of selling out.

Ruien 02-13-2013 12:48 AM

Thats not really selling out. It's, if we don't work it out this year never comeback. He negotiated his price and got what he deserved.

If the wwe hadn't gone pg, and created a much more strict wellness policy then it would be yes.

Just because you want to fuck James Dean's corpse doesn't mean we think anything that happened before we were born doesn't matter. The fact of the matter is Mick Foley is a much much bigger star across the world than Bruno Sammartino. Foley basically created the whole wrestling book market that has exploded over the past decade. He didn't need 8 years with the belt and a monster push either. Mick Foley is arguably the greatest success story in the history of pro wrestling. NOTHING about Mick Foley says he should have obtained everything he did except his ability to connect with audiences around the world through his sacrifices in the ring, the emotion of his promos, or his ability to tell a story with all of it. He is one of the most legitimately beloved superstars of all time.

Funny because it seems you have the opposite mindset, if its after 1979 then its inferior.

James Steele 02-13-2013 05:48 AM

If it wasn't in New York and if it wasn't for the fact Triple H bent over backwards to coddle this stubborn son of a bitch, there wouldn't be any question that Mick Foley would headline the class.

James Steele 02-13-2013 05:51 AM

Look at the fame, fortune, and legacy Foley made in his 5 years being full-time active in the WWF compared to Bruno in 20 years. He sold out MSG when they used to run it every month. I'd hope so considering he was the top draw for the NEW YORK TERRITORY. Let Foley/Rock,Foley/Austin, Foley/HHH, Foley/Taker, Foley/Michaels, etc. from 1996-2000 run MSG every month and see how many straight sellouts Mick could claim.

Mick Foley has books, matches, iconic moments in wrestling history. Bruno has the longest reign and a bunch of MSG sellouts. There are no defining moments for Bruno other than he was pushed to the fucking moon for a decade. During Bruno's two reigns, you had the Funks, Jack Brisco, and Harley Race all making the NWA World Title the far more prestigious championship. Bruno did bearhugs in mostly squash matches as fellow Italians went bonkers.

Bad News Gertner 02-13-2013 08:35 AM

HHH isnta top 1000 wrestler and not a Hall Of Famer

actually I still watch a lot of the current product.

CSL 02-13-2013 06:24 PM

he didn't say anything to the contrary

CSL 02-13-2013 06:25 PM

sorry Seth82 post, of course the response wouldn't be relevant to the post

mike adamle 02-13-2013 06:30 PM

I'm guessing we'll have Mick Foley vs. Bruno Sammartino on the Raw before the HOF to determine who headlines.

mike adamle 02-13-2013 06:31 PM

Maybe throw in Kane for a triple threat for the hell of it.

I don't think it's inferior at all. all decades have great wrestling IMHO.

I just can appreciate older footage and the history of the business.

Rock Bottom 02-13-2013 10:37 PM

Right but anyone who thinks Foley is the bigger star can't?

Corporate CockSnogger 02-14-2013 09:28 AM

Everything I've never seen is shit. Foley should headline

Depends on which one is which. :shifty:

Corporate CockSnogger 02-14-2013 11:18 AM

Foley isn't a fruit. He's just a fat, smelly tramp. Still better than that old guy nobody cares about though.

Bad News Gertner 02-14-2013 11:37 AM

Beth82 is just a faggy douche who lashes out because his parents don't care if he were to get dragged ot death behind a truck.

I’m assuming you mean “Mr.” Vince McMahon? or did you mean Jerry “the King” Lawler? :shifty:

Corporate CockSnogger 02-14-2013 12:39 PM

No. Vince McMahon is the best character in the history of wrestling. Bruno Sammartino is boring.
