Well it's not going to be on WII U. So, yeah there's that...
Eh.
Apparently there have been a few people play testing this, various people on twitter have been tweeting about it, and so far everything has been positive. But then again, they are from gaming sites/mags so take it for what it's worth.
I'll wait for preview articles and vids.
Hope the animation/movement is not stiff anymore... one of the everlasting issues with the Smackdown/Vs games.
Hard to reconcile that with the engine. It did improve the last generation.
We get promised a radical new version every year and it's just the same game with a few tweaks, a new story mode and new wrestlers, most of the better new ones costing you extra as DLC.
I've learned to live with this, and I usually pick up the next edition when it hits half-price. |

Debut trailer....looks awesome :shifty: |
WiiU? What? 2k said they weren't making anything for WiiU.
It's a confirmed fake trailer.
Thank fuck that's fake
:shifty:

Not to mention, no release date in the vid or barring that, even a "Coming _____". Just a still screen at the end with a bunch of console logos at the bottom.

WWE14 is having a create your own cover contest.
http://www.2ksports.com/wwecovercontest/ My entry |

Official trailer. Confirmed roster to this point: Dolph Ziggler John Cena Macho Man Randy Savage The Rock Ryback Shawn Michaels Stone Cold Steve Austin |
Quick, somebody figure out who the 3 douches are that Ryback is carrying.
The one in black look like it could be Fandango (right build, and he's got the little hair curlicue thing), but it also kind of looks like he's wearing sneakers.
Looks more like just generic CAWs similar to Ryback doing that mainly to indie wrestlers. The guy in black pants could be Fandango/Curtis although could also be Brad Maddox. The one in blue I have no clue.
Pretty sure they're all CAWs.
Looks decent but I haven't seen enough to make me buy it on day one like with WWE 13, when I saw the first trailer for 13, I had to have it on day one, with this its just kind of meh.
This might sound dumb but I expected it to look completely different to previous ones. Only thing of real notice were the house lights were all the way down.
Pretty sure the big changes will come with 2K15, when 2K really sink their teeth in.
This game was probably half done when THQ went under. |
This may be the first one I skip since 2009, I've barely touched '13, mainly from annoyance that it was so unfinished. I'll wait to see what features it has, but it might be worth buying it every 2 years instead.
Yeah 2k15 is going to be the real leap (and probably next gen), this is more or less THQ's swansong.
I'll buy it then bitch.

Make your own cover, but you can only use certain superstars. Fuck you 2K.
Eh, the cover sucks and the gameplay isn't looking any different. As of now this seems like a discount buy a few months after it's out if anything.

I liked 12/13 so I can manage.
I'm interested in next year's addition but I guess I can indulge Yukes one more time. |
One last time? Think 2k will clean house after this?
I think they will either heavily influence Yuke's development after this or do the game in-house completely with a new sub-studio. Either way I think this is the last purely Yukes WWE game. Especially considering the console jump.
Last I heard Yukes is getting dropped after 2k14 in favor of Visual Concepts for WWE 2k15.
Not sure if the whole studio will be merged with VC or just Yukes main team gets kept and absorbs into VC. |
Yukes is Japanese, they will not be absorbed by the western-dev centric 2k.
Hopefully they will start making WWE games that don't suck
and for PC too
Don't count on matey arrrrrh
Worried about the possible loss of great customization In 15, if 2k takes their own approach.

Give me back my god damn general manager mode
Or give those features to Universe mode so I can have an in-depth career with my CAW which I haven't had since 07/08. |
Quote:
I'd bet the priority for 2k15 is making sure the new engine runs well while 2k16 would have all the initial tweaks and expanded features. |
I don't mind if we lose some features for the first few years as long as the core engine is great and can then be built on year after year, otherwise you just end up with a highly polished turd

Awesome.
They finally put him in the game and his finisher is still wrong. :|
Whoa at real Warrior being involved, shitty looking character model though.
The model looks fine IMO. The animation is somehow even shittier.
I've seen better caws of him from wwe 13, I figured that this year would be a bit of a sloppy mish mash game but damn.
For those interested, Giantbomb had a recent interview with 2K Games for WWE 2K14.
* Some of the details revealed include the gameplay and flow being a bit faster than it was in WWE 13. * The game is going to have a feature that caters mainly to "hardcore" wrestling game fans. * Finishers and moves are being tweaked a bit to allow for more ways to pull them off during matches. Cesaro was used as an example. http://www.giantbomb.com/podcasts/2k...her-/1600-531/ |
Feeling like this is gonna be a "pass" until 2K has had a full cycle to develop their own product.
So some guy has managed to come across a special edition of WWE 2K14 that hasn't been announced yet, by slightly changing the URL of this image from WWEShop.com.
http://demandware.edgesuite.net/aaiw...ail/W05623.jpg Instead of the URL having "W05623.jpg" at the end, he changed it to "W05621.jpg" (Xbox 360) and also "W05622.jpg" (PS3) and he got these images.... SPOILER: show |
As I lay me down to sleep I pray my soul is mine to keep And never step outside this bed. Never, into all evil... now back from the dead. Are you scared? http://i.imgur.com/MklGcTA.jpg He's here. http://i.imgur.com/06UOTO0.jpg http://i.imgur.com/h6AZMj9.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ZjZwAx7.jpg |
Nice!
Big fan of American Badass Taker.
I am too, but not that version. I like Big Evil.
I have a feeling they're be using the Big Evil theme song. Don't think they'll be arsed to get Kid Rock's WWE mix of American Badass theme in the game.
Also digging the soft-reveal of 'pants' HBK. Like him better than tights HBK.
I hope they have both versions.
Quote:
That's what custom themes are for ;) |
I also don't think they'll get Kid Rocks American Badass because that exact attire was his default in No Mercy and it didn't have it either.
Quote:
Things are different now, but I still have my doubts the Kid Rock theme will be used here. Of course, as Ace said the WWE mix should be online for people to use as custom soundtracks anyway. I was just musing. |

Is that last picture actually supposed to be JBL or am I missing some sort of photoshop joke?
As long as I get a new, and properly animated "clothesline from hell" I'll be happy.
Rumoured that the roster will be revealed at SummerSlam Axxess.

All I hope is that we get multiple Triple H models again:
03-94 Terra Ryzing/Jean-Paul Levesque 95-97 Blue Blood HHH 97-99 DX Triple H 99-01 Heel of the Gods Badass HHH 02-04 Mega Heel HHH 05-07 Mutton Chops of Death HHH 08-10 "Living Legend" HHH 11-12 "Semi-Retired Icon" HHH 12-Now Haircut, Suit, & Sledgehammer HHH |
I wonder what the "hook" is for this year. The Attitude Era mode was awesome. I'd love it if they finished where WWE '13 left off and do all the major storylines from post WM15 to WM17. Corporate Ministry FTW.

I feel like if they were going to do Attitude Era 2.0, it would have been announced a while ago. I also feel like it'd be really hard to pull it off without working out a deal with TNA to get Kurt Angle into the game, since he was a focal point to a lot of storylines at that time.
This year just seems to be legends from all across the board as you have Savage, Warrior, Austin, HBK, Badass Taker, etc. plus guys rumored like Sammartino, Flair, Andre, and even Goldberg. There was some thought that the game would have a "Golden Era" theme but that'd feel weird without Hogan. |
I hope it has a good storyline mode in some shape or form. I never really cared for universe mode other than the clusterfucks.
Last year, I just went balls out with the Attitude Era. Deactivated every single current guy in Universe and filled up all 50 CAW slots with more Attitude Era guys. Had pretty much anybody of importance between late 1997-WM 17.
Between the people already in game, DLC, and CAWs I had like 60 people on both the Raw is War and WWF SmackDown rosters. |
Even then I still got bored, because Universe just keeps booking the same fucking matches over and over again and you're not allowed to change anything if you want to actually get a storyline. Not once in the entire time I've had the game did I get a branching storyline.
Universe as a concept has so much potential but THQ just can't get it right. And I don't have much faith it'll be considerably better in WWE 14 either. It might officially be labeled a 2k game but for all intents and purposes this is still a THQ game this year. Maybe next year we'll get an overhaul, but I'm still skeptical as it sounds like the same people are going to remain in charge. Last year was going to be my first year in a while not getting the game but I caved a week in. This year I need to have more will power and at least wait for a price drop. Feel like I've thrown $60 down the drain way too much in the past few years. |

A Universe mode that fuckin' works as it's advertised would be very nice indeed :)
Be realistic.
It is one of the most frustrating things about the games though, the potential is there.
They should have house shows in Universe mode with smaller arenas, fairgrounds or whatever.
I created a house show arena. I hope they find a way to expand on Create-An-Arena even more.
so we get at least 2 Hogan's

So basically Attitude Era mode but WrestleMania |
Can't say I care for reliving shit.
I wanna hear about the creation suite upgrades. |
Wait a sec Hulk Hogan made it in.....YES!
Could be some interesting names, probably not, but still.
Give me the tools in Universe mode I had in Smackdown 2007, where I could send John Cena off to shoot a fuckin' movie to get rid of him, and book promos / backstage story vignittes during match cards and have HEEL turns when I choose!
Or, in realistic terms, just give me the same game again and I'll be a sucker and keep buying it. |
Quote:
Also don't confuse GM and Universe Modes. Don't think GM mode is ever coming back because of the lack of a split brand. |
Maybe Angle could make it in too?
