There's also the fact that battlefield on 360 and PS3 isn't how the game is originally designed to play. They didn't scale down the maps at all, despite losing over half the player count. It's still fun, but it does involve a lot of running around not finding anyone, where COD takes seconds to find an encounter.

The maps on this one are very big indeed. Playing it today a bit, I realised it works better to stay close as a team and defend an area. I think this possible may actually be quite good when I get on with friends again.

That is tantamount to booting somebody from your lobby, which is in 98% of all multiplayer games. Hardly an advantage, and if you actually rented a server hell yeah you should be able to kick who you want.

According to Activision, early sales for Ghosts are lower than last year's Black Ops 2 although they expect the next-gen versions of the game to make up a chunk of the current difference.

Infinity Ward also confirms they still don't bother developing a CoD game for Nintendo systems when its their turn and instead let Treyarch handle those versions.

Mark Rubin: It's six. Two current-gens, two next-gens, and PC, plus the Wii U, which we didn't do.

E: Who created that?

Mark Rubin: Treyarch. Treyarch has a Wii U team specifically for just doing Wii U. That's all they do. They only do the Wii U games for every title. It was a Wii team that turned into a Wii U team. But still, yeah, five platforms.

I've changed my mind guys, this is a pretty good game. I'm still not sure about the loadout set up and all that, but I'm now sold on the maps and the gameplay. I was trying to play like in Black Ops 2, which rewarded lightweight loadouts and running-gunning because the hit detection and matchmaking were fucking awful.

This game is more like MW2 and it has taken me time to get back to that style of play, more circumspect, waiting to go round corners, trying to keep to areas where your back and at least one side is covered. It rewards seeing the enemy first and accuracy. The hit detection appears faultless so far, so if you see someone first and shoot straight, you'll win the shootout. The fast time to kill/die means there are few long range shoot-outs so this could be toned down a bit. It feels like a battle to go positive or help your team right now and it rewards teams sticking close and covering each other. Stealth and twitch-shooting loadouts are the only way to go, however. My preferred way to play is full stealth, but it was ineffective in BO2 because you'd always be out-shot by a fast player even if you saw him first or flanked him, so I welcome the return of flank and be flanked gameplay.

No it is not.

El Capitano Gatisto 11-09-2013 05:01 PM

I really am hooked now guys. All of a sudden, just realising I should shake off the habits of the last game. The colour palette and sound effects have bedded in now too.

The killstreaks seem to be barely noticable at times. The juggernaut Maniac streak is good fun but not a huge advantage from what I've seen. The best killstreaks tend to be mini-map related or revealing positions.

El Fangel 11-09-2013 06:16 PM

What do you get for sniper rifles at the start? Barrett?

El Capitano Gatisto 11-09-2013 06:19 PM

Not looked. You can unlock higher level stuff early with squad points anyway. I don't even know how many of the guns are real.

I sniped a lot in MW2, but the games since haven't favoured it. The maps in this game certainly make sniping useful.

El Fangel 11-09-2013 06:27 PM

Wife said last night she hates to admit it but wanted me to get CoD so she can try it herself. I had planned on getting BlOps because I know the maps and the weaponry and it would be about half the price of Ghosts.

So let me ask, do you feel it would be worth the extra cost to get it? Any issues with anything yet? Glitches or anything people are using to an unexpected advantage? Kinda want to make sure they have those things patched if I do consider it. I was going to get BF4 but I think that may be too much for her first shooter.

And yes, I realize it has been out only a handful of days.

Fignuts 11-10-2013 01:09 AM

El Fangel 11-10-2013 05:48 PM

VSG 11-10-2013 10:11 PM

Don't kid yourself.

El Fangel 11-11-2013 12:57 AM

I don't plan on it, which is why im hesitant on spending 75 especially if she doesn't like it.

RP 11-11-2013 01:00 AM

Blah blah blah blah comma blah blah blah blah blah blah period

RP 11-11-2013 01:01 AM

Is anyone on PS3 at all? Anyone?

alvarado52 11-11-2013 02:29 AM

Well since I was nicely surprised with a $700 financial aid check, i will be on the PS4

PSN names remain the same, yes?

Blitz 11-11-2013 05:25 AM

Once you get used to the new systems, this isn't so bad. I still don't like the maps, but it's easier once you start learning them.

New modes are pretty fun too. Really like Hunted.

For those who are hardcore fans of Call of Duty, you've probably noticed this special trophy cabinet somewhere in the latest game Ghosts. While there are several other interesting trophies, there is one that will catch your eye.

In the trophy case you can see a trophy shaped like a Rupee, the currency from The Legend of Zelda and in the text it says, "Awarded for: Most Bushes cut and pots smashed".

Heisenberg 11-13-2013 07:59 PM

just got this. intense. do we have a clan?

Heisenberg 11-14-2013 02:09 PM

I'm most likely going to be on in 6-8 hours if anyone wants to tag up and start a revolution on the XBOX 360 version of Call of Duty:Ghosts

El Capitano Gatisto 11-14-2013 04:02 PM

The spawns need fixed fucking big time. It's easy to suddenly die 3-4 times in succession here because of terrible spawns, going both ways. I just had a game where I died when some arsehole spawned right behind me (with a satcom up, he had no stealth perk on, he just appeared between scans and killed me) then I died another 3 times from terrible spawns in front of other opponents.

alvarado52 12-12-2013 04:37 AM

This game is terrible. Create A Class is a mess, the squad points system sucks, maps are too large, assault rifles are the only decent guns, and quick scoping is EVERYWHERE.

In summary: im trading this in to amazon towards Titanfall.

Kalyx triaD 12-12-2013 06:38 PM

You purchased this?

alvarado52 12-12-2013 10:51 PM

Felt like I should give it a fair shake. I also got it on the cheap and the trade in will give me back the cash I spent on it.

El Capitano Gatisto 12-13-2013 12:32 PM

I would encourage you to persevere a bit, I didn't like it at first but now the only thing really bothering me is the still awful spawns. A couple of patches haven't really fixed them, it's astounding how spawns can be so bad on such big maps.

Heisenberg 12-13-2013 12:37 PM

That map with the castle ruins is heartbreaking with spawns! I love that map too, with the paranoia it causes, but as you said, the spawns are killing this experience.

El Capitano Gatisto 12-13-2013 01:42 PM

Yeah it is really, really bad on that map. That is a huge map too so there is no excuse for continually spawning beside enemies. Same with the Siege level, the huge map that also has ruins and is beside the sea, the spawns on it are simply terrible. If you die once in this game it can quickly turn in to 3-4 deaths.

Last night I saw a guy who killed me re-spawning in the killcam 3 times in one game, that's just bad. There was a patch out yesterday that claimed to fix spawning issues, like the previous two did, but they are simply not any better.

Heisenberg 12-19-2013 10:04 AM

I was Ghosts before Ghosts was Ghosts

Miotch 12-23-2013 06:08 PM

I've only played for a few hours to this point, but the spawns really are my only complaint. There doesn't seem to be massive lag, and the maps all seem pretty good. All of the weapons seem to bring something to the table as well.

Oh and quickscoping too. Fuck that noise. I don't understand how they continue to put that into these games.

Kalyx triaD 12-23-2013 08:17 PM

Quickscoping is a result of the inherent game mechanics. They would have to make major changes under the hood to stop it.

alvarado52 12-24-2013 08:21 PM

Got this again on the One from someone who had a digital code for it, so I'll give it more time to grow on me...only because I didn't have to pay for it.
