Game crashed a few times in a row tonight.

Frank Drebin 08-17-2016 11:45 PM

Update: you def can use the exploit. All ships I encountered are +/- 1 from your slot count. Might get a few plus 1s in a row or a few minus 1s. Takes some time but I found it better than trying to mine for 50 million units and look forever for a top of the line ship. Up to 43 slots and hope to finish it up tomorrow.

No crashes tonight which was mildly surprising.

Frank Drebin 08-17-2016 11:50 PM

I've read the reviews and all the hate. Hard to disagree with it. Will keep going because it's fun to explore and you never know when some simple fixes or additions make it a better experience. Still lots of potential here, but I get the feeling I'm holding out hope like I did for Mass Effect 3 thinking they were going to have DLC that made that ending not a pile of puke and they knew what they were doing all along.

Must have a lot of time on your hands, Frank.

Up to 23 ship slots, but on Korvax planets right now. So I don't know if the Gek ship cheat can work for me or not.

It's............starting to get annoying now. Concept has changed to getting to the center of the universe to finding/buying a ship with enough slots to keep inventory moving at a good rate.

Read about the player who spent 25 hours on his starting planet just getting the max slots for his ship, suit, and multi-tool. He then started his journey.

That would drive me nuts.

drave 08-18-2016 06:16 PM

But, I mean, that IS a big part of the game? :|

Annoying or not, inventory management has ALWAYS been key in exploration-heavy games. Trying to decide what not/to take back, etc.

Hopefully if it has become TOO TEDIOUS and people aren't just hoarding stuff for not knowing any better/unknown reasons, then it can be updated.

Frank Drebin 08-18-2016 08:34 PM

Didn't take long.....2-5 hours depending on where you start your ship inventory.

To drave: is it tedious? Mmmm.....kinda. I think you get the most out of it if you aren't trying to get to the middle super fast. Stop on a planet or two in every system. Explore a bit. Learn alien words and move on. Will they add things next week? Not holding my breath but we will see.

Does anyone know what happens or if it's possible to finish learning all alien words be it for one race or the whole thing?

SlickyTrickyDamon 08-18-2016 08:57 PM

Most planets I have seen recently have had Network Marketplace kiosks. Sell your stuff before you leave to avoid Raiders.

Frank Drebin 08-18-2016 11:55 PM

Got v2 and v3 atlas passes. Kovax ops centers. Have everything I can think of at this point. Gonna learn language and follow Atlas n stuff for now.

Sepholio 08-22-2016 03:21 PM

Ive got max inventory space on my suit and ship, kinda miffed on the ship though. Found an awesome one, upgraded it to maximum and then 2 ships I had never seen before pop in and land next to me and make me drool. Uhg.

Up to 20 slots on my multitool, 4 more and I'm capped for spaces on everything. Woot.

Had a random bounty mission pop up last night too. Was travelling between two planets and I got a message about an 80k unit bounty on an enemy fighter. Traveled to his location and was happy to discover a 1-v-1 space battle with a ship far superior to any other I had encountered. My fully maxed out ship nearly got annihilated. I ended up winning with one health left. Was quite awesome.

Up to 7 Atlas stones now. With all the warp upgrades stacked, I can just hop directly from Atlas station to Atlas station and see what the deal is with this guy.

Still looking for the 3rd path though. Maybe it is the faint trail you can see if you look really closely at the free exploration tab on the galactic map. I dunno.

Frank Drebin 08-22-2016 03:40 PM

Yeah...about the end to that Atlas....I hope something else comes of it in a future update.

As for the other parhs, I don't think they exist. I have 4 "unlocked" and the 4th just lead to another Atlas station or anomally.

Frank Drebin 08-22-2016 03:42 PM

Just enjoying flying around from system to system, walking around planets. Goal at this point is to try to learn all the lauguages including Atlas which should take some time. Not really even heading towards the center. Without anything new being added, not sure how much longer I'll keep this up for. Got a few rare elements if anything comes up, but not really even mining for stuff. Feels like there's no reason to once you've maxed out all inventory space.

Sepholio 08-22-2016 05:48 PM

Yeah I am def interested in learning the Atlas language. Wish there was a faster way. I have a feeling the things Atlas says are much much more important than the random gibberish from your usual aliens.

Frank Drebin 08-22-2016 06:28 PM

Yeah. I have yet to see anyone say they've mastered the language or give a breakdown of what it says. Maybe I missed it. Maybe its a vague Bray Wyatt promo. Still curious.

ClockShot 08-22-2016 08:14 PM

35 slot ship..............getting closer. :$

Frank Drebin 08-22-2016 11:01 PM

Are you using the Gek exploit? Will save a ton of time.

Do you know about the bug/exploit with Gek transmission towers? You can re-enter the code there and just ping a shit load of ship crashes from a single transmission tower and just go from one ship to the other without stopping to trade up ships. It only works on a Gek system for whatever reason.
Now just swing by all each pinged ship one by one. It doesn't matter what the ship looks like, you won't own it for long anyway. Just make sure the ship you're switching to is a +1 slot increase when transferring, every once in awhile the crashed ship might actually be lower.
As you transfer over, break down any upgrades from the old ship and transfer over as many valuable resources as possible (rare elements like Omegon. Also Nickel, Aluminum, Gold or Emeril which will be needed to repair or build Warp Reactors). For now, KEEP THE NEW SHIP UPGRADES INTACT. The upgrades on your current ship could possibly have an impact on the upgrades you'll find on the new ship. [note: this needs further testing, but I'd recommend waiting to break down upgrades on the new ship until you've found another vessel to swap]
After the transfer is complete, you'll only need Iron (for carite sheets, you'll need 6 for each ship repair), Heridium and Platinum (you'll need some to fuel the launch as well) to fix your new ship just enough so it call fly (only the Launch Thruster and Pulse Engine). These are widely available on almost every planet, so if you run out you can quickly farm. Once the repairs are done, you'll be ready to fly; head to the next pinged ship. Rinse and repeat the last 3 bullet points until you hit 47 slots.
For the final 48th slot, now would be a good time to get picky and choose a ship you actually enjoy. I took another 40+ minutes to find one I liked but if you don't care what your ship looks like, just pick whatever.

The ship transferring step of the process took me around 2.5-3 hours for 13 ship swaps with another 40+ minutes for cosmetic/vanity purposes. Again, YMMV but that 2.5-3 hours is small in comparison to the grind of tens of millions of credits. My final result

http://i.imgur.com/0QR553L.png

Don't you have to repair it all the time? Or just the final one? How do you switch over inventory things?

Frank Drebin 08-23-2016 07:41 AM

You dismantle whatever upgrades you have and can transfer whatever you want over. You only have to repair launch thrusters and pulse engine to make the new ship fly so you just fix those and move to the next one.

One thing that helps is if you've used a transmission tower like 20 tines is to move to the other side of the planet just so there's more undiscovered space, btw.

Ruien 08-23-2016 09:59 AM

Really wish I bought a PS4 instead of a XBOX 1 now.

Yes. Although sometimes a tower will bring me back to an old crash site. Also, gotta repair the weapons when you move to another planet. Lately, I'm getting hit with enemy scans while carrying only a little gold.

Frank Drebin 08-23-2016 01:49 PM

Just stay on one planet if your goal is to max out your ship inventory quickly then you dont need to repair weapons. Move to another part of the planet far away from where you mined for crashed ships already to avoid being pointed at sites without a ship or ones you've already seen.

Emperor Smeat 08-24-2016 07:26 PM

According to Steam stats, active userbase for the PC version recently dropped by around 90% with Sony and developer Hello Games being silent about several issues regarding the game as one of the possible reasons why.

Started around 200k during launch and dropped to around 20k active players per day.

Frank Drebin 08-24-2016 08:47 PM

yeah....unless they do something drastic, this is going to go down as a classic botch

Droford 08-24-2016 09:43 PM

I wanted to like this game but it's plodding through quicksand levels of slow..

Frank Drebin 08-24-2016 09:52 PM

yup. Its amazing except its the same amazing over and over again right now.

ClockShot 08-25-2016 05:46 AM

Fix the stupid inventory upgrade system for starters.

Emperor Smeat 08-26-2016 06:38 PM

For those who have named planets and wildlife in the game, might want to go and check to see if those names still exist due to a supposed data erasing bug being discovered.

Apparently the bug only affects the oldest stuff named in the game and might be due to an unknown limit for name creating or game itself auto-removing old custom names after a while. Although some speculation about the people being affected were those playing before the game's official release.

SlickyTrickyDamon 08-27-2016 01:03 AM

Has anybody found a planet found by somebody else yet?

ClockShot 08-27-2016 08:27 AM

Nope.

Staring to think maybe the animals are glitched on the planets. Found all but 1 animal on a planet last night. All of them were just hanging around camps, except for one. I don't know if it just wouldn't generate, or it was at some secret place.

Couldn't be a fish, no water. Only one flying animal. Gave up after hanging around for an hour hitting ruins and ships to pass the time. But I missed a good payday if I found it. But I realized that trophy is gonna be a bitch to earn.

Next time you land on a planet with no life, it's already at 100%. Hit the button. You don't get any cash, but it counts as a planet you've discovered all life on.

ClockShot 08-27-2016 10:39 AM

That I knew.

I but I flew away from 225,000 units, dude. That's a couple suit upgrades right there.

Came home a couple hours ago. New patch installed.

This trick got killed. :fu:

Frank Drebin 08-27-2016 05:30 PM

Prob fixed the gek transmission patch too if you didn't upgrade your ship. Sounds like it fixed the ability to scan birds at least.

ClockShot 08-27-2016 11:47 PM

Nah. I got my 48 slot ship.

Game's going on the back burner for a little while. Mankind Divided demands to be played.

Fignuts 08-28-2016 04:05 AM

Yeah, Mankind Divided is tits.

Mr. USA #1 08-28-2016 07:37 PM

Game fucking sucks. Overhyped crap.

Droford 08-28-2016 07:53 PM

I got stuck on a planet with a crashed ship and about a bazillion sentinels who were pissed off..deleted the save file and started over

ClockShot 08-28-2016 09:02 PM

That your starter planet, or did you land on one?

Droford 08-28-2016 10:03 PM

No..I was hunting down a crashed ship to upgrade and I stupidly took over the crashed ship.. I didn't have the resources to fix it and the stupid sentinels would kill me every time.

In other words, you've already been to all 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 planets?

SlickyTrickyDamon 09-04-2016 01:58 AM

ANybody get and how do you get Atlas V2?

Frank Drebin 09-04-2016 02:39 AM

Polo or Korvax Ops Centers.

ClockShot 09-18-2016 06:23 PM

Put the PS4 into overdrive and notched The Sentinel trophy today.

A good 6+ hours with an hour in between because the PS4 shutdown due to power settings. But, the 1st hardest trophy of the game is done.

SlickyTrickyDamon 09-18-2016 07:26 PM

been playing star trek online on the console instead of this for a bit.

ClockShot 09-21-2016 10:10 AM

Probably gonna platinum this during the weekend without having to beat it.

Just gotta hyperjump like crazy now.

Fignuts 11-29-2016 06:28 AM

Going to jump back into this, as it just got a massive update. Biggest additions are craftable bases and freighters, but there is a lot more.

Frank Drebin 11-29-2016 06:37 AM

Played a bit yesterday. Cool and all but still shallow at the end of the day. Looking for rare resources to upgrade base. I'll goof around with it for a bit more though. Glad to see they plan on updating it and haven't just abandoned it. Hopefully the start of good things to come.

ClockShot 11-29-2016 01:49 PM

Platinumed & traded in long ago.

Fignuts 08-12-2017 06:09 AM

Massive update. Might have to fire this game up again. Still a really good chill and relax game.

1 year too late unfortunately.

Fignuts 08-12-2017 04:58 PM

True, but there are still enough people playing to enjoy the update. Actually looking forward to trying it out.

Shadow 08-13-2017 08:57 AM

Picked it up because it was on sale. Ok it's fun. A lot of fun. Really enjoying tooling around the universe.

Frank Drebin 08-13-2017 08:41 PM

Man.....I had all the experts and did all their missions and now they're all gone and I have to recruit all over again and do a whole new set of fetch quests. Gonna slog through a bit at a time for now but it's still very grindy.

Textures are alot better. Much less phasing in of terrain.

Fignuts 11-07-2018 07:07 AM

New update greatly expands underwater exploration

Fignuts 04-03-2019 04:33 PM

This is getting a huge new update in Summer called Beyond.

Murray says there are three major features it adds. The first is more mmo style characteristics. Though he says the goal isnt to turn it into a straight mmo.

Second is VR support for PC and PS4.

Third is not yet revealed.

Fignuts 08-14-2019 05:32 PM

New update is fucking huge. So much stuff. Getting PSVR primarily for this game.

https://www.nomanssky.com/beyond-update/

Frank Drebin 08-15-2019 05:22 PM

Actually downloaded this again since I'm all played up. Seems to gave gotten much better. Base is gone which sucks.

Frank Drebin 08-15-2019 10:02 PM

Still buggy af. Keeps crashing even after the update. Too bad since everyone keeps saying how good is it now.

No Man's Sky is that guy who you see doing something stupid everytime you see him. Everyone then tells you how that's not him and he's actually a really good guy but there he is, running into a wall while drunk the next time you see him.

I will say it's been fun getting back into it. Still a hell of a grind to do some basic things (see: repairing a frigate, hope you have the right element to do so, mine for elements needed to fuel expedition) that I wish wasn't so time consuming. Still, I've always liked the premise and am going to put in the time.
