Ready to pick up my SE PS4 copy this evening. Not able to take tomorrow off tho, probz.

Playing it now and god damn.... |
It's awful?
|
Probably call my local Gamestop around 8 and see if there's a line.
If there's nobody or just a few hanging around, I'll grab it tonight. If it's super long, I'll get it after work tomorrow afternoon. |
97 over at Metacritic right now. Only reviewer that's really "criticized" it is Slant Magazine. Gave it a 7. |
lol
|
My Gamestop said to get there an hour early.
A friend at another store went earlier and they gave him a ticket for 'group 3'...fuck. |
Put in a couple of hours so far and just started chapter 2. I'm playing on Xbox One X with a 4K tv and it looks absolutely stunning. Gameplay is typical Rockstar so if you've played anything of theirs then you'll be comfortable here.
First few hours ease you in gently and show you the ropes. I'm now up to where side missions are unlocked and just don't have it in me to be a bad guy. This game is going to consume me, just as I thought it would. |
probably 50 or so people there. the staff wanted to get home to play the game so they made sure 99% of the people had the fully paid receipts with what version/console written on em. Hung around in the middle to get in a good position in line. I was out by 9:02pm.
That was a bitch of a long time install from the 2 discs but it's ready for me to play after work tomorrow. |
I never played red dead redemption 1. Was it necessary in order to play this
|
Got thrown in jail and after getting out I was pretty dirty so checked into a hotel for a bath. Had the option for a deluxe bath for an extra 50c, totally worth it :naughty:

I'd figure the companion app would be something like the Destiny app.
Change clothes, weapons, and horses, coordinate online stuff with friends, in-game news, etc. Nope. Can't even download it to my phone. I guess it's just for tablets and it's just a map and a few other things that are useless. |

Not compatible with my Moto X.
|
Anyway, played the first mission(s) and I love what I'm seeing.
Unfortunately, I'm amongst the many who got the double war horse code in with their ultimate edition of the game at Gamestop. So, I gotta swing back there tomorrow and get it. |
ahh. haven't even tried to redeem my codes yet. game is beautiful...
time to upgrade the 3d tv to a 4k tv and trash the regular ps4 for a ps4 pro. :o |
motox
had one. great phone. right now a pixel 2 for work phone, pixel 1 for personal. vanilla'ish android always ftw. |
The world evolves as time passes. I came across a father and his two sons building a house. They only had the foundation and were trying to put up a wall.
Couple in game days later and I came back to find them under assault from another gang trying to extort "protection" money from them, and all the framework for all the walls and roof had been constructed. This wasn't a mission or anything. Just a random occurence in the game world. I imagine I come back later again and it will be finished. Same goes for that building under construction in Valentine. Also, this world feels more alive and more real than any open world game to date. I didn't think they could top gta5 in that regard, but they did. Its not just the density of npcs in a town, but their behavior. Only negative is that some things aren't explained very well. Like I have no idea what constitutes hiding a body. I tried throwing it in a bush away from the road, but the law still found it. |
Met a Stranger in Valentine trying to write a book about this drunk guy passed out at the bar. He gives you 4 photographs of people scattered around to interview for him and promises a cut of the proceeds if you bring him back info to finish the book. Done all that, and now we play the waiting game.

Up to chapter 3 now, think I might explore and do some of the side stuff, see how big the map actually is. |
When it comes to tithing at camp, does anyone know how much to add to it? Also as far as items like a watch go, should I just sell those for cash? Do they have any use as an item?
|
I've played about an hour and a half maybe, I was super super tired so I didn't have the best time to be honest. I'll probably really get into it tomorrow. So far I have to say that it's much slower pace than I anticipated which is kind of discouraging but I'm sure after spending more time with it I will get into the pace.
|
The pacing seems to be a love it or hate it type deal. I'm in the "love it" camp. Gives me the opportunity to really drink the world in that rockstar created, and notice all the little details that were painstakingly crafted.
|
Can't decide whether to finish DQXI now, or play this. Or play both. UHG.
I took the first game at a slower pace and loved it. The western setting just feels like it is made to soak in. |

After my ultimate code debacle, Gamestop was cool enough to hook me up. Now got all my goodies. :D
Going in deep after dinner. ;) |

Just loot every corpse you come across and it will soon add up. You'll also get some big paydays on some missions too. You can also find a gold bar worth $500 in the burnt out town near Horseshoe camp, but you can only sell it when you unlock the fence posts. Don't forget to also spend the camp funds to improve various things in it. If you upgrade Dutch's tent and then Arthur's, you'll unlock fast travel from the camp to any town you've previously visited. |
Got to the horse shoe camp earlier and shaved. I'm only playing the game sober. so good. I think becoming a master hunter is going to be even harder than the first game. Kniving that bear brings back nightmares.
|
Just got to chapter 3 which is where the game REALLY opens up, in case you were wondering.
|
Can't believe Rockstar was a bit lazy and snuck in the 70 Gold Medals trophy/achievement that was in GTA5.
The last thing I was ever thinking of doing was replaying missions. |
Quote:
|
Go over to Pearson who is the fat cook to donate anything you get from hunting to camp. To sell it in town, you go to the butcher. Also a trapper that gets unlocked later that you can sell to.
|
Do you have to sell looted valuables to a Fence? Clerks at General Stores won't take them.
|
Yes.
|
My biggest complaint so far is how the wanted system works. If someone starts shit with me in town, attacks me, and I kill them in self defense in clear view of everyone, I don't think its fair to give me a wanted level. Happens more than I'd like as well.
|
Purchased tonight while getting some cash to do some laundry. Might start after the game.
|
I am enjoying it more for sure. So immersive but not overwhelming to me.
|
Paid off my wanted level in one state at the post office, 60 bucks, not bad. I have 240 in another state because I killed like everyone in town.

I actually need to get for-real started on this. I had such an ordeal with the install, that I wasn't really in the mood to get into the actual gameplay, and only made it as far as past the wolves at the start and haven't really been motivated.
|
I do miss the days of putting in a disc and playing at once.

Why could they say Mexico in game one and not Texas, Arizona and New Mexico in this (assuming those are the represented states)?
|
Quote:
Firstly, for whatever reason, my disc drive decided it wasn't going to read shit from any disc in it whatsoever. Had to do a bit of fiddling to get it to even read. After I got that resolved, my disc 1 install kept stopping on its own every .3 to .5%, and I had to keep restarting it manually. I couldn't go make a sandwich or watch TV or anything in the interim. Thankfully, the second disc didn't do all that, but the first shouldn't have either. |
I had to delete like four games to fit this in and just on disc 1.

Companies are being to cavalier about end user's storage space on their products, and even assuming what is on the disc to install is the entirety of the final release (but let's not kid ourselves about day one patches), I don't feel like futzing around with the install process if I want to revisit something I like in the future. It is going to stay on the hard drive until my system explodes. I'm also timid about deleting anything, because I would like to keep it if it goes away. See: OutRun or Scott Pilgrim. |
I only have (mostly) mainstream games. I doubt that would happen to games I've paid for.
|
havent got this yet, but hoping to get it soon. loved the first red dead redemption.
|
So yeah, going back to something I was talking aboout earlier, definitely check in on construction projects in the game world. Not only is it a cool visual detail, but there are missions to partake in which reward you with money.
The house just south of Valentine that I spoke of earlier and rewards you when its done. The Lumber Yard near Strawberry also evolves over time, and gives various missions. |
Also, if you get stranded somewhere away from your horse you can ask a passing carraige for a ride.
|

|
Uggggh.
Missed out on an American Paint horse. One of the rarest in the game apparently. Would have given me an automatic boost in horsepower..... No pun intended. |
GREAT loot stash northwest of strawberry
It's a little shack in an area called Vetter's Echo, on a road between mount shann and little creek river. Guy inside is already dead. Just walk in and take what you want. |
|
wah wah wah wah waahhhh
|
Isn't thaht the chick who got fired for being a cunt on twitter?
|
I'm watching this guy on Youtube playing this game like a serial killer and killing people. He just threw bodies into a campfire and they caught fire lol. It pretty fucking hilarious.
|
I've been leaving any bodies where ever so far. I haven't made it to chapter 3 yet so I'm not sure if that's going to be a bigger deal later on.
|
Got cheated out of a perfect Bison skin. So don't make the same mistake I did.
If you happen to do some hunting en route to mission. You may want to track down a trapper/Pearson/town to offload it. Started a mission yesterday and at a certain point, the game deleted/removed the pelt off my horse because I had to carry someone. Never had this happen in previous mission until now. |

Also, for some retarded reason or another, if you stow a hide on your 🐴, you have to ride it to the butcher stand in order to sell it, rather than being able to just sell it off from my inventory, if you go that route. You can also craft things with hides. |
tip: don't get your horse stolen.
I was using the SE horse so I went and got a new one at the stable..stats were reset though. Running with your saddle in hand out in BFK sucks |
Did ya whistle to stop the rider?
Or was your bond not strong enough? |
Quote:
|
|
You can find areas with wild horses and try to tame and bond with one to make it your new horse. All you do is approach slowly, calming it when spooked, then when you're close enough, get on it and when it tries to buck you in one direction move the stick in the opposite direction to eventually calm it. Then you can put your saddle on it. Much cheaper, albeit more of a time investment than buying a new horse.
|
SE horse is free, of course.
Yeah...I was in an area where i had a high bounty so trying to get a wild horse was a pain. probably was a little drunk |
I am loving this game. I'm into chapter 4.
|
I don't get bounties unless a mission procures it. Learned my lesson, and I pay them off if I do get one. I can't stand those fuggin bounty hunters.
|
On the prowl for pelts this weekend, boys
|
Same here. Had a close call while hunting the Legendary Wolf yesterday.

put a bison down during footballl halftime. damn, it didnt want to die
respect to hunters, still. still no respect to trophy hunters |
Quote:
And then, I found the trapper yesterday. Ooof. Never gonna advance. |
Ive heard tell that theres some sizable bugs some of which are story related. Should i wait till thos are patched out to start this?
Still not done with Dragon Quest so it'll prob be another week or so |
Some characters don't appear in camp for the first few chapters outside of story missions dedicated to them. Because there's so many conversations between all the different characters, you end up missing out on a lot of character development.
So yeah, I'd wait. Especially since as you said, you've got something else to spend time on. |
Chapter 3 is def where it's at
|
I haven't noticed any bugs...then again, I played Kingdom Come: Deliverance at launch
|

and countless others over the years.
|
My only complaint is...watch out for that...tree...
|
Def an issue for me to have the potential of story/character based bugs so I'll happily wait. Its no rush. Game will be just as good in Dec/Jan ya know?
|

Also, SPOILER: show |
Hunted and killed the legendary moose earlier, a lot easier than i was expecting.
Saw a naked npc howling at the moon with a wolf, I then got killed by the wolf. |
I'm on chapter 5. I love this game. Just contracted a serious disease that I hope can find a cure for! I'm assuming Arthur will live on in this country after the story concludes so I need to get healthy!

If there's one gripe I've come across in this game it's the fishing controls.
I wish they took from Final Fantasy 15 and used the shoulder buttons instead of the thumbstick for reeling in. Ugh. It hurts. Already dreading going after legendary fish. |
My Ultimate Edition War Horse died and now I'm stuck with jobber horses.

Unless you're really far and back in the west, the rare Mustang is out there too. |
The legendary cougar made me its bitch
|
I beat the game. No spoilers for you but I liked it. Could've been harder, but I liked it a lot. I am not wondering what to do in this world because I'm not ready to stop playing.
|
boooooooooooooooooooooooooyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
|
First try at landing a legendary fish (the swamp gar) failed. My wrist hurts.
Story mode quests are pretty easy mostly but the side stuff is unforgiving at times. Knifing that bear in the OG game to get the hunting mastery seems simple in comparison so far. |
Just got to chapter 5, I can't stop playing but don't want the story to end.
