It's a subtle thing but I like that Luke Harper still looks kinda leery of Orton. Like he still suspects that he's gonna betray the Family or is worried that Orton's gonna usurp his place as Bray's right hand man.

• The graphics department seemed to have some screw-ups before the tag match.
So I'm assuming this is the end of Slater & Rhyno. I have no idea where Slater can go from here though. I'm sure Rhyno will just leave, but as for Slater, I'm not sure. Hopefully, he doesn't just return to being a comedic jobber again. I feel that even though he's good at that, he is better than that. • Why is Natalya scared of Nikki Bella? Apparently, Nikki Bella is more scary/intimidating than The Hart Dungeon. • Good promo by The Ascension there. It actually made me think that they could be getting a push. I was wrong. • I was fully expecting the usual red of Baron Corbin's entrance and was really let down. Even though I'm not a fan of Corbin at all, I do think the entire stage going red was cool. I noticed in Glasgow that it's cooler live. This new graphic sucks and just makes him even more boring, something that I thought wasn't at all possible. It sucks that Kalisto lost though. This guy should be winning way more matches. He's so good. • Hey look, it's that "celebrity" we all know and love. • Now this attire that American Alpha wore was cool. I reminded me of Jericho's old attire design from back in the day. He just comes across as a genuine dick when he talks. If he was a heel, I think he'd do well. • I like Bliss but is this going to be a regular occurrence whenever one of Triple H's "guys" or "girls", wins a top title? They get their photo taken with Triple H in the Gorilla Position after the match with Triple H standing next to them looking like a proud father, then at the next show, they get the entire pyro budget blown on their entrance? I see Alexa was put off by the "you deserve it" chants, but they're not wrong, she does deserve it. Still, I wouldn't have chanted it to her. I can see the final rematch and the end of this feud taking place at Royal Rumble, which gives a good amount of time for some good stuff to happen between then and now. I think what will help this feud carry on and last that long, is shenanigans on SmackDown during the first rematch. I'm looking forward to it. I've been enjoying the Becky/Alexa stuff much much more than the Banks/Charlotte stuff. The latter has just been so drawn-out and tired. • Good main event match. I can see Ellsworth's last match being at Royal Rumble. He'll manage to avoid Ambrose mauling him until that night when Ambrose does get his hands on him and ends up obliterating him. That will then be the explanation for Ellsworth's disappearance from the WWE. • Overall, good show and enjoyable to watch. I look forward to next week. |

I'd be pretty happy with them drawing the Alexa/Becky thing out a little, maybe no "Automatic Rematch", a mini tournament to crown a #1 Contender? 3 1-on-1 matches leading to a Triple Threat? That could keep Bliss and Lynch separate for a few weeks.

I watched the second half of SmackDown:
* I always suspected that Heath Slater and Rhyno would split up. I'd be fine with them having an ECW Rules Match at the Royal Rumble, with Slater beating Rhyno to get the rub. The one good thing about Ellsworth being on the roster is that Slater isn't the ultimate jobber now. * Alexa Bliss' facial expressions...so fucking bad. One of the worst actresses in the company. She showed some organic tendencies in her promo trying to respond to the crowd, but nothing outstanding. She's still pretty bad on the mic. The verbiage these girls were given is corny as hell. Becky looks like a sore loser. The WWE doesn't know how to book babyfaces anymore. I hope Becky wins back the title by breaking Bliss' arm with the Armbar. * Dean Ambrose is flat as shit. * Chad Gable is so fucking good for how long he's been in the business. I like the idea of them working with The Fashion Police, but they just need to work out how to let American Alpha be babyfaces. It's a common problem on SmackDown. This is a symptom of NXT where everybody got cheered so Ryan Ward and team assumed they were doing a good job of presenting them as heroes. The only babyface they ever really made endearing was Sami Zayn, and that was more Zayn. * I'm trying to remember something else that happened. * Corbin vs. Kalisto was alright. Corbin knows how to act like a heel, and he's got the fundamentals down, but he's a charisma vacuum. He works really well with Kalisto, but he's going to need more opponents, and he's just not that interesting. Kalisto is better than this. * I fucking hate The Hype Bros as a tag team. Didn't see them versus The Ascension, but have no desire to. * The Miz has been doing good promo work lately. He gets to twist the screw in a way that most other talkers don't. His work in the ring was okay too. He's not as great as everybody on his dick says he is -- he's still lacking something in the ring, but that's probably the least important part of being a WWE Superstar. Just ask Dolph Ziggler. Miz is doing solid B-level work right now, and that's better than you can say of most. * Next week James Ellsworth should no-show SmackDown and get his "mother" to call in sick for him as Dean Ambrose looks for him. |
