I wanted to romance Hifumi but I've only got her to Rank 6 now after seeing her every time she's available. She never likes my stupid gifts though and I forgot about the Arcana boost from Personas so I was only getting one affinity per hangout, didn't think I was going to get her high enough by end game so I just decided to throw myself into a relationship with Kawakami because it was the first one that came up.
Then I had to turn down Takemi a few game weeks later and I feel bad because she's much cooler and not my teacher. |

Went to a festival with Haru though and Ohya staggered over drunk, called me boring and told Haru she could do much better so why is she hanging around with me. Not cool.

I'm at what I presume to be the last safe room now. Fusing up all the persona I possibly can. Also trying to get as many Futaba dialog lines to pop as possible. Worried I'm going to miss that trophy tbh which would SUCK for my platinum hopes and add an immense amount of time to that goal.

Its dont by unique dialogue options so mixing the party up is going to be the biggest factor that you can control. But yeah Im pretty sure it does.

Yeah I've been naturally using everyone, tagging in with Hifumi's LV1, baton passing and using analyse or the R1 weak point finder thing. Status effects seem like they probably net you at least 3 unique lines per character (afflicted, a turn under the condition and heal).

SPOILER: show Will be coming back to this in a few months to clean up on NG+, also picked up Persona 3 on the PS3 and will either get Persona 4 or PS2 or maybe look at getting a cheap vita with Golden or something. I'm mostly blind on P3 but think I already know all the big twists in P4 which kind of sucks but I'm sure it's still great regardless. If it wasn't clear enough already, I really really enjoyed this. :heart: |

My backlog isn't actually that big right now, though its heavy on RPGs. A lot of them are just newer versions of RPGs I've played before though so I might get into more Persona early 2018 or maybe even December.

Haha yeah I loved using the Vincent costume too because of the Catherine BGM. When I replay I'm tempted to get the P4 and Maybe even P3 costumes. Don't usually bother with superfluous DLC but this game really is that good I don't mind giving them more money. |
Turned on my PS4 for the first time in over a month and totally forgot I was using the Makoto / Queen theme. Been gobbling up that DLC on the reg.

Marciless difficulty gives early game enemies debuffs like frozen and shocked. Will be interested in seeing what happens late game

Does it reset you to Lv1 and take your money / items like the other games? Think in P3 you got to keep your MCs equipped gear and your current personas, in Golden it took everything. You always get to keep your compendium, personality stats, shop unlocks and room decorations though I think.

You keep your money and all equipped gear. You keep your compendium as well so while you cant make personas above your level through fusion you can buy them. You also keep social stats and you get the perks of any confidants that were maxed.

Oh wow totally overlooked perks carrying over. Kawakami, Tora and Mishima should make things a breeze. Strength should also be easy to get back to MAX pretty much immediately.

You do have to forge a bond with them before they activate tho

Makes sense, Tora and Mishima are fairly early on at least. Having Kawakami from the start would be OP.

Nice! There's a bunch of P4 references on the news channel if you interact with the café TV, might even be an odd Catherine or P3 reference. I only noticed a couple of them because I'd played some P4 Arena years ago so I vaguely knew the main cast but I think Rise, Naoto, the Inaba killer and Junes (maybe even Yosuke?) are all name dropped on there. Pretty sure Rise is on a movie poster in the subway too.

I can't remember which gifts I got in my playthrough, wasn't many. Definitely got one of those little daruma statues from Yusuke because that was the only thing I ever got for my shelves. |

Yeah, absolutely vital for your time management if you're maxing everyone. Do you keep the gifts from your last playthrough or do you start over? I want to put up that totally not suspicious phantom thieves banner as soon as I move in haha.

Merciless is manageable tho i single mistake and its game over. Bosses can rng you to death. They inflict statuses more often and exploit them for massive damage. |

Only have Empress (6) Strength (8) and the story confidants left. have the entire final month to max Empress. Will do Strength on the final day when I do my end game level grinding and finishing the compendium (78%.)

Used the gym a shit ton during NG+. My hp is like 200 over the other party members and SP is 75ish. Last month will mostly just going to the gym so that'll grow.

Tired the super boss at level 25ish on merciless...humiliating. Still plan on doing it though but not yet. 60ish i think will work.

Haha pretty sure I only went to the gym once, and even then it was for Ryuji link. Did the bedroom pull ups once too just to see what happened, but there was never really any need to do it on NG. Merciless super boss I can see being a nightmare if past games are any indication.

You get money and personality stats from them, pretty sure you need to work at the beef bowl shop to open up one of the Social Links and the rest of the jobs have minor mementos requests attached to them.

Got everything i need to fuse the shadow for rank 9 of strength. Need to be 49 first. Think im 44 now. May grind it out in this dungeon. Dunno. I have the rank 10 shadow already in the compendium so i wont have to grind for that level requirement and once i finish 9 i can max the confidant. When i finish this palace i will only need i think 4 empress ranks and story confidants and ill have maxed all. Should be very very easy.
Then to finish the compendium and beat the super boss. |
That's cool that it gives you plenty of time, P3 was the hardest to get all Social Links maxed, absolutely zero margin of error. I cut it really close on P4 Golden too, think I got Ai done on the last available day.

You get around three weeks extra time (I think) but certain links aren't around anymore (for obvious reasons), including the two new links, and some switch to a reduced schedule, then there is also another week but that's exam prep so clubs also become unavailable. I ended up hanging out with Konishi for most of it because I only had him rank 3ish when I stopped the killer and he just mopes around on the street EVERY SINGLE DAY IN HEAVY SNOW. Think I still had music girl, Ai, Sports Bros, Daycare and Naoto left when I went into extra time. I didn't do very well min/maxing the free affinity you get for your party and the Dojimas tbf, got them done asap for the most part. Kept Kanji at 9 for as long as possible because his original persona is the best.
All party members also get a Rank 11 event w/ persona evolution over the three weeks so it's a lot to fit in. |

The twins are the hardest fight ive ever done ever. Dropped the difficulty to easy just so i could learn some strats with less risk. Was gonna reload after. Would have...except i lost.

Probably not going to keep trying. I would but i didnt realize the money farm wasnt something that could be infinitely done so i wont ve finishing the compendium and coming in with the absolutely bedt personas is clearly the only avenue for victory

I actually never beat P3's superboss, it was 1 vs 1 and you needed a very specific set of resistances and top level skills because one of her moves did guaranteed damage above the HP threshold and there is absolutely no way you can survive it, if she ever hit you with a weakness you were dead. She fully heals if she ever drops below a certain HP limit so you need one specific move that will do enough damage to kill her, which requires Messiah and something else high end I can't remember, but if you use it too early she counters with an unblockable Megidolaon then fully heals EVERY turn. You cant buff, she's immune to debuffs. Absolutely crazy. I didn't stand a chance.

Im going to try and get as much money as i can in this dungeon. If i can get the top fool persona ill try it again. Tbf i have a persona with no weakness now so i mayyyyy try it one more time.

140k and ill have Satanael who ill be able to equip with multiple nuls and repels. Coupled with that item the Reaper drops that halves all damage i should be able to beat the twins now.
Use Joker as the healer and all should go well from there. Will take a few days though. After Satanael ill need to farm the yen to get the personas i had to delete to make Satanael happen. |
If you pick up a SP adhesive 3 from Takemi the game basically becomes easy mode

Merciless is totally manageable. Enemies are a threat. They can nearly (or actually) one shot you if they hold you're weakness. This makes combat very engaging and rewards you for being smart. If you make the star confidant a priority so you can tag in and out you'll be versatile enough to handle it.
On NG+ the first 70% is a non factor since youre going to have endgame persona out of the gate. Personally I would only ever play on Merciless for NG+. Doing a standard run on Merciless...would be tough. You would have to make sure to have the right persona on joker to exploit weaknesses since you wouldnt be able to tag until around the...4th dungeon? Maybe earlier but still. It would be a sizable challenge. If you set a penalty on yourself that you could only recruit persona from the compendium that were your level on a NG+ run I think it would be a fun playthrough throughout. |
Probably going to take the plunge with it then when I do my NG+.
Have this pencilled in for December at the latest. Really looking forward to getting back in Persona. I'm even considering dusting off the 3DS for PQ2 next year. Absolute no to the dance games though haha. |
