GM Gulak please

SlickyTrickyDamon 01-23-2018 10:42 PM

GM can't be a full time rassler. That's a conflict.

SlickyTrickyDamon 01-23-2018 10:43 PM

Jamie By God Noble?

Can't go shoeless in the ring I don't think. It's germy.

Eh. It was awesome with "Emperor Regal" being KotR and GM before the wellness violation.

That's more of a backstage trick. But take a look at how she stands a lot of the time. She shrinks herself in posture to add a touch more of that "larger than life" who whomever she is sticking the microphone in front of.

Anybody Thrilla 01-23-2018 11:00 PM

I like that Sami used the BTB as a finish for once.

Emperor Smeat 01-23-2018 11:07 PM

Ali-Cedric match was really good overall

I'm glad to see it, but the crowd didn't really react because nobody thought the match would end on the BTB.

So many wrestlers follow the formula of hitting a signature, pin, kickout. Signature, pin, kickout, etc. And there's a misconception that those are false finishes. But they aren't. For it to be a false finish, the crowd has to actually think the move that was just hit could end the match.

I'm all for having signature moves end matches more often, as it could make the ends of matches more exciting. But right now fans are conditioned to years and years of most dudes having only one real match-ender.

Lock Jaw 01-23-2018 11:48 PM

He did hit the Blue Thunder Bomb after the Halluva Kick, didn't he? I think that is a great way to finish matches. As the Halluva kick on its own is not so impressive a finisher, and the Blue Thunder Bomb always looked like it should be his finish. So stick them together into a finishing combo and you are golden.

Mr. Nerfect 01-23-2018 11:50 PM

I'm in favor of a company-wide ban on kicking out of finishers unless special permission is granted. Also, more finishes should come out of nowhere with moves that aren't always used to end matches. Eventually the fans will begin to buy into pin attempts again, and kicking out of big moves will mean something.

I like the Helluva Kick followed by the Koji Clutch myself.

Evil Vito 01-23-2018 11:52 PM

I like the Blue Thunder Bomb after the Heluva Kick, looks very good. But again, the crowd hasn't been conditioned into thinking the Blue Thunder Bomb is a move that will ever end a match.

Hope he keeps it up, love that move.

Agreed 100% on this.

Right now the only finisher they seem to be going out of the way to protect is the F-5, as even guys like Joe and Strowman who would've probably kicked out of anyone else's finisher in the modern WWE landscape have been put down by one F-5.

And it's seemingly only being protected to ensure Roman can be the first guy in a year to kick out of it. In theory that should be a "holy shit" moment but since they've been burying finishers for years it's just going to come across as forced.

Need to apply that rule across the board if they want to re-condition the fans and give moments like that the full effect.

It's such a babyface finish. Zayn is such a babyface though. I know that he can play a jerk well -- I'm not debating that. I just don't see how people are really supposed to boo him.

It's a good thing they're doing that, but the backwards thing about is it that every other finisher gets kicked out of, which people think is "more epic," and thus they're saying Brock is boring for actually beating guys with his move.

GD 01-24-2018 02:27 AM

I found the Tozawa Vince strut to be very adorable.

Mr. Nerfect 01-24-2018 02:38 AM

Allegedly the Mixed Match Challenge's live streaming was down 32% from last week, and has only had 500,000 or so views, which is down tremendously from this time in history last week. It'll be interesting to see if it gets up with a slow crawl, or whether this is an ongoing trend.

GD 01-24-2018 03:19 AM

I enjoyed this week’s edition of 205. Don’t care much for crowd reactions.

Mr. Nerfect 01-24-2018 03:22 AM

Would cutting it save a lot of money for the company? They've already got the cameras up and the talent probably don't get paid much. But I feel like scrapping it would be a huge load off the company's back.

Big Vic 01-24-2018 07:29 AM

I'm hoping Rapstar Potato comes in as GM.

Mr. Nerfect 01-24-2018 07:56 AM

Would you actually watch? Genuine question. Is there a General Manager that would actually make people tune in? I just feel like 205 Live is dead, and the fun speculation is really nice, but it's not going to make a difference who it is. Make it Cesaro and give him practice talking when no one else is around.

Mr. Nerfect 01-24-2018 08:04 AM

I can see it being Laughing Matt Hardy though.

Big Vic 01-24-2018 08:12 AM

Or Goldust

I said that in another thread. Not out of this world, but I'm leaning towards Matt, because I can see Goldust still wrestling and beating them in 3-on-1 Handicap Matches. :y:

#BROKEN Hasney 01-24-2018 09:02 AM

Matt Hardy making Gulak champion and trying to cure the rest of them from their adeektions would be fun for a week.

#BROKEN Hasney 01-24-2018 09:02 AM

General Manager Chet Rico would also make me giggle for a week

I'm surprised Gallagher didn't pitch for Kendrick to get the job. I actually could see that given that he's pushing 40 and seems to be someone they'd value keeping around.

slik 01-24-2018 12:16 PM

This week's Mixed Match Challenge has 171k views so far, way down from last week's 1 million + by this point.

Probably would reconsider now.

Probably a mix of last week's novelty shine and star power being better overall than this week.

Now if next week declines or doesn't do as well considering the stars appearing, then there should be some concerns.

Anybody Thrilla 01-24-2018 01:59 PM

Would anyone be opposed to starting a thread solely for the Mixed Match Challenge separate from the Smackdown thread? I imagine some people are watching on delay on the Network and not on Facebook. Maybe not a new thread every week, but an ongoing MMC thread like there was for the CWC and the MYC.

Holy shite Shelton Benjamin been workin out with Billy Gunn.

Jordan 01-24-2018 07:14 PM

Chad Gable has IT

Jordan 01-24-2018 07:15 PM

His charisma reminds of Eddie Guerrero.

Anybody Thrilla 01-24-2018 07:17 PM

I've always been high on Gable, but he's REALLY been showing something as of late.

Jordan 01-24-2018 07:18 PM

Gable's rolling German is just perfect

Jordan 01-24-2018 07:19 PM

I was just watching him in his match with one of the Uso's. Looking forward to the tag.

Oh my god... I just Nakamarua's promo with Renee and Corbin... it was really bad. It's a shame that WWE doesn't take use of talent and have certain superstars have managers. He's never going to really "get over" doing this weird Miyagi shit.

Emperor Smeat 01-24-2018 07:32 PM

This week's show ended up being the 3rd week in a row Smackdown was down in terms of numbers. Also the rare time it didn't take the #1 spot when not competing with sports.

Probably a bad sign as well that the huge audience from Monday didn't carry over.

Anybody Thrilla 01-24-2018 07:35 PM

How could Monday's viewers have carried over? Raw was absolute trash.

Jordan 01-24-2018 07:43 PM

Wow Randy Orton came in super hot with those RKO's. The crow popped big. He's such a huge star but WWE has done him bad. They haven't protected him, and pushed him, he's been shoved to the side. It's unfortunate. Also wow, he looks really weird with so much hair on his head. It's like going back in time.

Anybody Thrilla 01-24-2018 07:47 PM

That was a pretty slick RKO on Nakamura. Really felt like it came "outta nowhere".

Jordan 01-24-2018 07:51 PM

Wouldn't if be dope if WWE did some real shocking shit and New Day ended up dominating at the Rumble and Big E ended up winning by tossing Roman over and then going on to challenge Lesnar at WM.

Anybody Thrilla 01-24-2018 08:07 PM

I'd be down with that.

RAW being trash is one factor but typically whenever RAW gets a big spike, Smackdown gets their own spike as a carry over.

Smackdown getting none of RAW's spike to carry over and actually going down compared to last week is pretty bad for them. They've been really good the majority of the time of getting around 80-95% of whatever RAW gets for the week regardless of how good or bad RAW was.

#BROKEN Hasney 01-25-2018 05:54 AM

Maltzer says the idea of 205 Live getting a GM goes back months and it is planned to be a serious GM, not a joke character or a big part of the show. One of the names thrown around months ago was Summer Rae, but they decided not to use her because she was too tall and would make the wrestlers look bad.
