Bethesda was my favorite. Totally get why some people would feel it wasn't a huge win, but personally I was marking out.

Doom is one of my favorite games of this generation. A sequel based on Hell on earth pretty much made my day.

Fallout being multiplayer is huge because Heisenberg's crew and I all love the series, and we have a blast whenever we do co op stuff, so this will get lots of play.

Topped off with star field. I love the wasteland and tamriel, but an outer space Bethesda RPG has me more excited than either of those. Its my favorite setting. The fuck do you think I'm still playing destiny for? Finally getting confirmation that's its an actual thing they are making was a personal win for me.

Sepholio 06-13-2018 08:07 AM

I keep watching the Ghost of Tsushima gameplay. I am finding it harder and harder to believe that is current gen.

Big Vic 06-13-2018 12:38 PM

Was worried for a sec that every fighter was returning except Wolf wonder what his Final smash will be.

Kalyx triaD 06-13-2018 12:55 PM

Likely a villain swap of the other Star Fox finishers.

Ultra Mantis 06-13-2018 05:34 PM

Skimming through the super condensed highlights because I haven't been keeping up with any of this. Starting with Sony because it's my go to.

TLOU2, okay. Not really any more hyped, nothing unexpected.
Ghost of Tsushima has me VERY interested.
Control? Eh, didn't really do much for me in the 15 seconds I saw. Looks like Infamous, maybe.
REmake 2. Cool. Itchy. Tasty.
Is Trover a Ricky and Mort thing? Is this memes? Never seen it. I don't get it. :-\
Kingdom Hearts 3. Yeah. Standard.
WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK IS THIS, KOJIMA?
Nioh 2, alright, I should actually get around to playing Nioh first I guess.
Spiderman Arkham City looks alright.

Ultra Mantis 06-13-2018 06:16 PM

Microsoft next I guess? I don't XBONE but okay.

Halo Infinite. It sure is Halo. Halo.
Sekiro Shadows Die Twice looks good, not as WOW as Ghost of Tsushima. Bit this is from FROM and on PS4 too so yay, got my eye on it.
Kingdom Hearts 3 again (but first I guess). Yep, it's still KH3.
Fallout 76. I learned nothing from this segment except I feel like 4 x Fallout 4 = Too much Fallout for me to digest.
Devil May Cry. So might I.
Studio acquisitions seems like a big deal, probably.
Forza MMO. There's some cars. Lots of them. Driving.
Tom Clancy squad shooty game. Not my thing.
Dying Light 2 sounds like it could be interesting depending on how much weight the CONSEQUENCES actually hold.
Gears of War 5. Yep that's Gears of War there.
Man this is pretty long. And this is the highlights version. Getting bored.
Picture of Cuphead on screen for one second, DLC. Never got round to playing this, forgot all about it until now I guess. Maybe I'll pick it up on PC someday.
Cyberpunk 2077 fuck yeah!

Emperor Smeat 06-13-2018 06:37 PM

Some details for Cyberpunk 2077 via Destructoid's hands-on impressions:

Quote:

The demo starts with the character creation menu and it's our first introduction to the many ways that Cyberpunk 2077 is so very big. There's basic character stuff like hair, skin color, and facial attributes. But other tabs paint a deeper picture of who you play as. There's birth record, background check, biometric scan, and biostates. Life events like "death of a sibling" and "ran away from home" are said to influence your demeanor and maybe how others perceive you.

The playable protagonist is V, and Cyberpunk 2077 again offers plenty of freedom. V can be either male or female (our demo was played as a woman). Besides all the stuff in the previous paragraph, there are also stat categories for Strength, Constitution, Intelligence, Reflexes, Tech, and Cool. These define who you are, but this role-playing game never asks you to pick a preset class. It's more fluid, and actions throughout the course of the game seemingly eventually funnel you toward class specializations.
Quote:

The later half of the demo was meant to showcase how different choices can lead to different outcomes. V was tasked with buying a spider bot from a local organization. An encounter outside their compound led to an agent giving V a currency chip with a lot of money on it. This added a non-violent option to acquiring the bot. Without doing that, it would've had to have been guns blazing.

But, because this is supposed to be a high-octane showing, things trended toward violence soon thereafter anyway. There were plenty of creative shooting moments, where V used the environment to change the battlefield. Cyberpunk 2077 gives you options in combat too. However, this is where we saw one of the neater violence mechanics: Stealth takedowns result in V jacking into the enemy's head and accessing whatever he knows to her benefit. For instance, we got a floor-by-floor overview of the entire compound and were able to take control of the security system. It pays to be prepared.

Also based on Destructoid's hands-on preview with Resident Evil 2 Remake, one of the biggest changes done involves the save system. Instead of just using the classic typewriter system, the game auto-saves progress but still allows players the ability to use typewriters for intentional saves.

Zombies are also a lot more tougher to kill than in recent games.

Ultra Mantis 06-13-2018 08:14 PM

Ok Nintendo let's see what you got.

Daemon X Machina. I am drawing a blank.
Xenoblade 2 DLC. If I ever decide to play Xenoblade 2 I might form an opinion on this. TBD.
lol Reggie what are you talking about with your pokeballs inside pokeballs, I have no idea whats going on here and this abridged version probably doesn't help.
Fire Emblem, no idea whats going on here either.
Overcooked 2, nice, I picked up the first on Switch so will probably get this one too.
Killer Queen Black, what is this. This direct is leaving me with much confusion.
Fortnite. Oh wow at last, something I know I don't care about.
Smash Bros Ultimate. I've barely played any of this series but that's cool I guess, as long as it's not Mortal Kombat Armageddon.

Octopath Traveller wasn't in this highlight reel I just watched, but I already pre-ordered it because it looks top notch and didn't need to be sold on it further. Watched the full trailer anyway. Great. I watched it twice.

Ultra Mantis 06-13-2018 08:19 PM

I am not watching EA because I do not care about EA :y:

Ultra Mantis 06-13-2018 08:42 PM

Bethesda.

Rage 2. Shooter.
Doom Eternal. Shooter.
Quake Champions. Shooter.
Prey, free DLC. Shooter.
Wolfenstein. Shooter.
Fallout 76. Entirely Online? Ugh. Shooter.
Elder Scrolls Blades. Not a shooter, but a mobile game. Come on Bethesda, what are you doing.
"Yeah we know this is all shit if you're not a fan of shooters and online play, but we have some games you might like coming out eventually, in a few years, on next gen probably, check out these logos to prove it!"

Ultra Mantis 06-13-2018 08:58 PM

Ubisoft is the last one. I think.

Beyond Good & Evil 2 feat. Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Interesting concept, curious as to how that's going to play out.
Tom Clancy again. Still not my deal but ok.
Starlink. Main guy has really distracting nose. Oh and Starfox is here, his nose isn't as distracting. This is toys to life right? That detail seems to have been skipped but I'd have thought that ship has sailed. I have like 30 Skylanders in a box somewhere.
AssCreed, I have never been a fan of this series because I absolutely hated the first game and I forced myself to finish it because I heard the series was good but FUCK that first game was such a fucking chore. I don't think this looks bad though, heard it's going more RPG and I'm always down for that. Not that I was impressed enough to jump back in, but it didn't look bad.

Ultra Mantis 06-13-2018 09:04 PM

Based on the ten minute highlight reels I'd place them

Sony > Microsoft > Nintendo > Ubisoft > Bethesda > EA

Obviously I didn't sit through much of the actual presentation side of things so that's purely going off the games that had me interested.

Emperor Smeat 06-13-2018 09:09 PM

For those interested, Giant Bomb is holding night two of their E3 At Nite show with Xbox boss Phil Spencer as the current guest.

Go watch devolver but watch watch it. Fuck the games. Just the presentation

Ultra Mantis 06-13-2018 09:17 PM

I'm 30 seconds in and I already see where this is going haha

Ultra Mantis 06-13-2018 09:29 PM

Are these games even real? Haha what the fuck.

Destor 06-13-2018 09:30 PM

I thought the same thing. I was told theyre real

Ultra Mantis 06-13-2018 09:34 PM

Well I guess I didn't see that ending coming. That's one way to end a presentation I suppose. That was wild.

Destor 06-13-2018 09:38 PM

Brilliant stuff

Yeup. They really like to publish a wide variety of games.

Biggest complaint online was the lack of Serious Sam 4 in their event. Guess they hyped it up too much that people thought it was going to be the main game shown and/or people being pissed it only got the post-show trailer treatment.

Fignuts 06-14-2018 06:59 AM

Not gonna even front. If that Starlink game plays as smooth as classic Starfox then I'm gonna have a ton of little toy space ships in my room.

RP 06-14-2018 01:39 PM

Starlink stole the show for me. Beyond Good and Evil 2 has a brilliant idea that i'm super curious to see. And RE2 looks fucking amazing. Fallout 76 looks great. Xbox did some nice things, nothing major to me. Sony had a lot of nice things. Death Stranding was just terrible though. I have no clue what i was watching.

Biggest disappointment is Nintendo. I dont give a fuck about Smash.

RP 06-14-2018 01:43 PM

The most underrated of the show was Beyond Good and Evil 2. The concept of being able to put your own art and music in the actual online world is very very ambitious and i hope they pull it off, but if they dont completely , we'll look back on this years E3 and point to them as the ones that at least kicked that door down and tried to make it a big thing. I'm very curious to see what comes of Beyond Good and Evil 2.

Emperor Smeat 06-14-2018 02:11 PM

Supposedly HitRecord has sort of a bad rep when it comes to actually paying people for their content.

Something about the ambiguity of their payment terms and no guarantees your work is actually protected from others using loopholes so they don't have to pay you for it.

Emperor Smeat 06-14-2018 05:50 PM

Bunch of E3 related stuff:

* Based on Destrutoid's hands-on preview, Assassin's Creed Odyssey controls very similarly to Origins and the massive battle shown during Ubisoft's E3 event is from a new mode called Conquest Mode.
https://www.destructoid.com/assassin...s-508171.phtml

* According to Nintendo, Smash Bros Ultimate is not an enhanced Wii U port and instead is a brand new game running on a new engine "built from the ground up" for the series.
https://www.usgamer.net/articles/nin...ame-than-wii-u

* Nintendo also revealed a never before released 1980s arcade game made by Shigeru Miyamoto will be arriving on the Switch next month as part of their Arcade Archives series.
https://www.destructoid.com/unreleas...h-508244.phtml

* According to Avalanche Studios, Rage 2 won't be featuring any multiplayer modes with the official reason due to them wanting all the focus and effort spent on developing the game's single player campaign.
https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2...fps-on-console

* Activision is currently facing online backlash for their DLC plans for Black Ops 4 due to locking away all DLC planned to the game's Season Pass.
https://www.destructoid.com/black-op...s-508205.phtml

* Based on early data, around 2 million people downloaded Fornite for the Switch within 24 hours of its official E3 announcement. Sony also recently addressed the growing backlash against them in regards to locking out existing Fortnite accounts by basically ignoring the backlash from non-PS4 console players.

Happy to see Avalanche being dedicated to their single player. Not every game under the sun needs multiplayer.

OssMan 06-14-2018 07:55 PM

Anything good happen, is kalyx pissed about the lesbian blowjobs in the last of us

Kalyx triaD 06-15-2018 12:42 AM

I'm not interested in TLoU series. Also I'm pretty sure DLC for the first game revealed not-Ellen Page to be gay so I'm not sure why I'd be against it. The coverage was more annoying than the thing itself, tbh.

Shadow 06-15-2018 08:58 AM

Damn Sony. The hell you think you're doing?

ClockShot 06-15-2018 05:40 PM

Namco Bandai dropped a new trailer for Ace Combat 7. Like what I'm seeing, but still nothing in terms of a release date.

Dammit, I love some Ace Combat, but was hoping for a Xenoverse 3 announcement

Kalyx triaD 06-16-2018 03:00 AM

I THINK the Xenoverse guys are doing that anime crossover now.
