I’d be pissed off if the company I worked for got me to suggest that one of my mate’s leukaemia was cosmic justice, and it flattened my career with them anyway.

Don't forget getting vaccinated from the smelly fans with comically large needles

Mr. Nerfect 01-30-2019 05:08 PM

You can imagine Vince promising Ambrose it would be great, Ambrose not wanting to do it, Vince promising great heat, then Ambrose coming out to cricket farts.

Mr. Nerfect 01-30-2019 08:03 PM

Watching KENTA vs. Marufuji from just a few months ago right now. It's a fucking good match. KENTA is working like a pure heel thus far. His facial expressions are excellent. He's got great presence. Set up the story of him being the "bad dude" by trying to kick Marufuji off a break after Marufuji showed him the respect of a clean one. It's now going into a more back and forth contest.

Man, KENTA's facial expressions are really fucking good. They're kind of what I'm taking away from this. He's a great storyteller.

Probably because that 90 seconds was better and more believable than anything WWE's main roster (and arguably the entire company) has done in the last 14+ years.

Mr. Nerfect 01-31-2019 01:28 AM

Man, I loved the Ambrose FCW stuff. Double or Nothing ending with with an Ambrose promo like this could be epic.

Ambrose actually looked better when he looked "worse" IMO. The short hair and beard make him look so generic and boring. The straggly hair and stubble was a unique look and if he kept that, still beefed up but got some actual wrestling gear he would look more of a star.

Haven't seen him actually work since he came back though, does he still do that goofy "get stuck in the ropes then hit a weak as fuck clothesline" spot? Horrible signature.

Yeah.... I think his current look w/short cropped hair makes him seem so "generic" and I "don't care about him"

Danny Electric 01-31-2019 06:41 PM

Looking forward to The Shield reunion when Reigns returns with Seth and Fake Dean Ambrose.

I'm mixed about the look. His old look was "cool" and had this edgy, quirky outsider boy band appeal to it. He was the "street" one. The shaved head made him look far more serious and "tougher," but it did make him look like one of my friends.

He doesn't really have that larger than life look at all. He's pretty tall and in good shape, but he's not a huge guy by superhero standards, so he's kind of like a big normal dude that sometimes has hair and sometimes doesn't.

Mr. Nerfect 01-31-2019 07:07 PM

The Bane gimmick was fucking awful. Holy shit, way to make a guy in the best shape of his life (possibly) look shit by comparing him to a movie character that was huge.

Emperor Smeat 01-31-2019 08:40 PM

For some perspective on how frustrated Dean was in the WWE, X-Pac thinks the deal that Dean turned down was likely around $3 million per year based on his past experience with contracts and how WWE handles downside guarantees.

slik 01-31-2019 08:41 PM

Dean should wrestle Nia Jax in a loser has to wear a Weasel suit at WM!!

Bad News Gertner 01-31-2019 08:47 PM

That's brilliant.

I don’t know what to make of that. I like X-Pac, but would he...know?

That being said, I totally buy Dean being frustrated. I would HATE WWE if they got me to do the things they’ve asked him to do. I probably would have tried to quit earlier. I really wouldn’t be surprised if he’s the first of quite a few surprises.

Emperor Smeat 01-31-2019 10:01 PM

He did admit his guess was based on some rough math. Only had the report of Dean's new deal having a $1 million downside and his past knowledge of WWE's percentages to work with. Would also mean that wrestlers get roughly a third of their contract as paid guarantees.

If I remember, Dean's current contract is rumored to be somewhere around $1-$2 million per year. All 3 Shield guys were also rumored to be among the highest earners in the WWE.

Mr. Nerfect 01-31-2019 10:16 PM

I can imagine that a $1 million downside guarantee would come up with some special events and merch sales and all that. I mean, it sounds like they get paid specifically for the Saudi shows, and those are pretty hefty sums.

I suppose X-Pac having some knowledge would make sense with his friendships.

That being said, I'm more inclined to believe like you guys said, a downside guarantee of roughly a million per year. That has always seemed to be the max for big stars who aren't the top stars.

Then again who knows what they are doing with the new tv deals. Maybe they are going to switch up contracts to bigger guarantees but less percentages of everything else.

Mr. Nerfect 02-01-2019 01:00 AM

Yeah, X-Pac has had friends that have negotiated big money deals. I just wonder if they’ve ever been “contemporary” enough to Ambrose for him to know. But that all makes sense.

DAMN iNATOR 02-01-2019 10:50 AM

If I'm honest, I'm guessing the situation with Dean is all an elaborate worked shoot, though I must admit I have no idea what the end game would be.

X Pac also had a $300,000 downside guarantee and pulled in over a million a year during his best run.

That’s quite a bit of money for a guy that was known more for his various hand gestures as opposed to his in ring work. I guess giving blow jobs to Hall and Nash backstage has its advantages.

Bad News Gertner 02-06-2019 09:43 AM

Awww XPac wasn't bad in the ring. His 1999 work is tremendous.

Wasn’t a bad worker at all. He was just known more for being a groupy bitch that could look cool throwing up various hand gestures alongside other (big) men that he was likely giving blow jobs to backstage.

Jordan 02-06-2019 11:02 AM

We all hated X-Pac in his 99 and 00 run because he didn't do the kind of work he used to do. He was still great, and we could use a carbon copy of him now but yeah... we in the IWC were way to harsh on X-Pac.

Mr. Nerfect 02-07-2019 04:59 PM

I’ve actually been meaning to ask: where does X-Pac heat come from? The dude’s never been awful.

The crowd turned on him when he betrayed Kane and stole Tori. Then the fans realized the character always sucked and booed him.

GD 02-07-2019 06:42 PM

Is Sean Waltman not in the HOF for the same reason Chyna isn't?

As far as I can recall, Hunter cited her career in the adult film industry as a reason for her not to be in the HOF.

Fignuts 02-07-2019 07:05 PM

Pretty sure that was a joke Dave.

GD 02-07-2019 08:23 PM

Well, it is a little bit like a double-sided sword. It’s not just as easy as, “Should this person go into the Hall of Fame?” She completely, 100% transcended the business. Changed the business. Paradigm shifter of the business. Did what no woman ever did before, and was awesome at it, and a phenomenal talent. All the other stuff that happened happened — and I don’t need to get into any of the other stuff — but there’s no beef on this side with anything, and I mean that 100%.

From a career standpoint, should she be in the Hall of Fame? Absolutely. It’s a bit difficult, though, and this is the flipside of the coin — and this is the side nobody looks at — I’ve got an eight-year-old kid, and my eight-year-old kid sees Hall of Fame, and my eight-year-old kid goes on the Internet to look at Chyna. What comes up? And I’m not criticizing anybody. I’m not criticizing lifestyle choices. Everybody has their reasons. I don’t know what they were. I don’t care to know. It’s not a morality thing or anything else. It is just the fact of what it is. That’s a difficult choice.

This is the most interesting Dean has been in a year.

slik 02-11-2019 09:25 AM

WWE has cancelled the Dean Ambrose/Nia Jax houseshow match, rumor is a sponsor or two got wind of it and were not too happy.

Fignuts 02-11-2019 03:45 PM

Can’t wait for this shit to hit video games and people start bitching about Chun Li and Cammy fighting dudes.

RP 02-12-2019 10:27 PM

I guess Ambrose was suppose to say more to Rollins on RAW, but he went rogue and just said " slay the beast".
