Gauntlet match was pretty good overall.

WWE could probably get away with not having breaks during matches but pretty much means no more 20+ minute matches unless they want to start pissing off advertisers.

WWE seems to have a large problem when people get over organically -- they over-focus on stacking the deck against them in storylines -- and not enough on why people got into them in the first place (see Lynch, Becky and Braun circa 2017/2018)

I think more people are definitely being added to the US title match and it will end up a multi-man match (maybe even a ladder match). Joe, Rey, Andrade, Truth, Mustafa Ali

Supposedly its all due to the mindset Vince and WWE have of nobody can be bigger than the brand and Vince's pettiness when it comes to stars getting over on their own or by crowds. The moment WWE starts to meddle in something they didn't create, that's when things start to derail and get overcomplicated and hurts more than it helps.

Also, another reminder of all the years spent by the company spinning wheels while they focus on Cena or putting over Attitude Era or earlier stars in perpetuity.

I remember once upon a time, there were a few "nothing" matches between Dolph Ziggler and Kofi Kingston. I still consider them fucking great, and they're things that got lost in the shuffle to time. And that's a shame.

With proper effort and maintainence over some of the last several years, those two should be main event legends by now in a "who was the better multi-time champion to tear the goddamn house down" match in the spot on Mania where Bats and Hunter are now. Instead, one guy is "on hiatus", and the other is just now getting a main event push.

I say that to say Miz has been there through all that, and it's easy to forget about him, too. Say what you want, but he worked out as a talent way better overall than he ever should have. And it is very simple to overlook the fact that he was brought in pretty much because of his reality TV crossover appeal and has been around through a lot of pushes, depushes, hirings, firings, "firings", and forced retirements of people both more and less talented than he is, and done okay for himself in the long run. And Miz has done so in spite of working for a company continually trying to charge headlong into finding a new Hogan/Austin/Rock, while simultaneously more or less saying without saying (or sometimes actually saying) that nobody will ever be as good as they were.

I am fairly certain that was the first time Bayley has ever been on Smackdown.

I welcome the return of Switchblade Bayley, but disagree about the team name. There have been worse. Like Air Boom. Or anytime a couple or stable has to have "team" in the name. Not saying everything will come together like the 4 Horsemen or The Heenan Family, but for fuck's sake, can we be a little more clever?

Side note to that, a tiny detail they repeatedly drop the ball on is the music. Like, can a team or a group get a different song collectively than the individual sum of its parts? I am a big critic of "twinsy" tag teams, whose whole identity is being wrapped up in being one of two that are hard to tell apart, but on the other end of the spectrum is a team that are literally just two individuals, and can even barely be assed to have on the same color schemed attire. There is a very achievable middle ground here.

Instead of S and B using cropped parts of their songs, get a song for the duo that isn't the same thing. They were *kinda* doing that for Sanity (there is the generic group theme, and then there are specialized mixes that are notably different for Killian Dane and Nikki Cross), not that anyone would know because they all just fell off the fucking world. Or when they tried to just keep everything that was over about The Shield on Roman Reigns instead of making solo songs for all three men. People would be going apeshit at the song now on this "final" reunion... but some of the reaction is ruined because it is just basically Roman's theme now. Just another one of those little touches that make a bigger difference than you would think, but WWE can't be assed to do consistently.

I think they need to cement Kofi in the match next week or risk loosing the “payoff”.

I think they might put Kofi in there but do it in the shittiest way possible. By which I mean it involves Daniel Bryan or Vince calling Kofi the N word.
