Yeah, I mean I haven’t really thought of him and Kristen Stewart as shackled by any sort of “Twilight” association. If anything it helps prove their worth, they are exceeding the expectations of those who saw them in it because they are a lot more talented than that genre, material and direction was ever going to display. Also wasn’t Twilight like ten years ago at least? I sort of forgot that it was even a thing... |

Still in the "pretty indifferent but will rush out to see it" camp...
Well my pants are wet. I’m ready for this movie, please and thank you.
Looks really good
Zoe Kravitz also looked great. Finally got to see more of what she can do. I liked that the trailer centered around them.
This looks ok, but still... I expect him to start sparkling any second.
I can't shake that either, Sixx. Especially even more with this trailer. I sincerely hope they don't go the route of:
"OMG Catwoman, I wanna do stuff" "Oh yeah Vengeance, me too!" catwoman gets in a sticky sitcheation with Riddler or some other shit. Batwoman gets lured to the trap, looks like he's about to lose an BAM Fin I don't want it to go that way, but feel like it will. |
There’s nothing in Matt Reeves’ filmography that suggests he’s going to do anything stupid, absurd or unserious with this movie.
I watched his Let Me In remake recently and if that’s the vibe they’re going for, and it feels like it, this movie is going to be just fine. The dynamic between a playful Catwoman and serious Batman seems on point and I trust Reeves as a filmmaker. |
I'd love it if he was so into this whole justice bullshit, it'd go like:
Alfred: "Pancakes or eggs, sir?" Wayne: "Jus...." Alfred: "Right, justice." |
You should write the next Batman movie
sounds like he already did
for real though i hope this finally redeems Pattinson in the eyes of joe film-goer. he's a 5 star actor who took a role for big money when he was green. no one hated twilight more than him and The Batman could be his ticket to finally get that movie in his rear view mirror.

F that nerd. Go Team Jacob.
:shifty: |
Going off on a DAMN iNATOR style side story here. The best time I ever had a theatre was going to see the second Twilight movie. I forget the name of it. Unimportant. My wife dragged me to it when her bestie had to back out due to an emergency and she didn't want to waste the ticket. Whatever, Twilight blows but I can take a couple hours of Hell for the misses no sweat.
The theatre is wall to wall super hyped up girls of all ages. I scan the area and see a handful of other poor souls who seem to be in this predicament with me. I nod to them, signaling that we will persevere. They raise their fists in solidarity. (OK that part didn't happen but pretend it did for dramatic effect.) Fast forward to like half way through this awful picture and there is a scene where Jacob is wearing the most Central Floridian pair of jorts you have ever laid eyes upon...and then he takes off his shirt. Every single girl in there from ages 6-80 all simultaneously burst out in an embarrassing cacophony of "oooooohs" and "aaaaaaaahs" and I swear I heard someone say "He's so dreamy." Gag. But then it happened, the best thing that ever happened at the theatre. One of my similarly miserable brothers sitting somewhere behind me in this sea of gaggling geese saw Jacob take his shirt off and he saw his opportunity. As all the ladies swooned, this man casually stands up, clears his throat and exclaims to the Heavens "NICE SHORTS FAG!!" Chaos commenced. All manners of snackery and liquid refreshments were hurled his way from those nearby as the entire theatre erupted into a deafing boo. He grinned, unwavering, unflinching and took his comeuppance in stride. I looked back at this champion of justice with a smile on my face. This man had saved the day and salvaged an otherwise torturous experience for the few of us stalwart warriors who had dared to brave the hall of velour seating. His bravery and sacrifice will never be forgotten. |
Sounds like a truly hellish experience at the cinema. I’d ask for my money back if I had to deal with that shit.
The movie was a drag for me regardless and that minute or 2 of chaos was by the most entertaining time I spent in the theatre that day. I'm not the guy to ask for a refund anyways. I get agitated too easily over things like that and I'd rather not snap in public and cause a scene. Mad embarrassing.

Hope Edward announces himself in the movie like Lego Batman does. Just a dead serious monotone "I'm Batman".
Pattinson has been owning it for several years now. He'll do a good job.
Gonna laugh when Batman goes out during the day and his skin is all sparkly.
Pattinson has been ace for a long while now. And he apparently wanted to play the character badly. So much so he reached out about what the status of the film was. I think he’s gonna kill it with whatever he’s given.
Just a month away baby. Tickets go on sale next week. I’ve read they reported test screening reactions that this movie is very Chinatown/zodiac in vine and style. They released the funeral scene and I got seven vibes. Haven’t seen Chinatown but I loved Zodiac. |
Yeah I’ve heard a lot of comparisons to Seven. Looking forward to it. Riddler is what I wanted from Dark Knight Rises with Joker as a sort of Hannibal Lecter-like character.

I’ve read March 1 IMAX screenings are selling/have sold out. It seems Pattinson has shaken off the twilight dust enough to have a big opening weekend at least. No we wait for the critic’s to chime in.
Is it Pattinson, or Batman though?
I'm Batman!

I have the same feeling about Pattinson that I did about Bale. And Bale turned out to be fantastic.
I think this movie will be great. I imagine there will be changes to the Riddler character as we know it. I'm a bit concerned about the long run time, but honestly if you love Batman and you want a great movie, you take the chance and sit through it. I think the long run time actually points towards this being really really good. |
I think they havent showed the Riddler because the big reveal is that he isnt in a mask as we all remember from comics and the animated series. I think he's going to be deformed some how. Maybe something to do with Batman. I think they're losing the mask for Riddler. Which I honestly would not mind. It's modern. It makes sense.
Affleck has a stink on him from long ago that will not wash away. You could put him in Star Wars and kill the IP.

This is my favorite RP post ever. Bale is amazing. Assuming the run time will give the plot proper time to flesh out...... hopefully. |
They’ve got a lot to establish with introducing Riddler, Penguin, and Catwoman in the same movie. That said, you’re not going from a standing start with these characters; the outlines are very well established in the public consciousness. I’ve faith that this movie will deliver.
I have a feeling that Penguin is "barely" going to be in it, and is just going to be like an "opening scene action sequence villain" to establish things.
I've read enough things about the film I've possibly spoiled some plot stuff for myself - which I will not spoil for anyone else - but everything I've read the story sounds great and like this will *probably* be the best Bat film since The Dark Knight (and also a very different film from The Dark Knight....if The Dark Knight was the HEAT of superhero flicks, this is probably more so the ZODIAC/Chinatown of superhero films).
Just purchased my tickets for March 3. Pretty damn excited. Reviews drop in 12 days.
is this going to hbo max
45 days after its theatrical debut

He’s also getting an HBO max series. So we’ll get more of him. And I’m ok with them saving him as a side/reoccurring character. Reeves stated in an interview that he thinks there’s a very grounded and interesting way to bring Mr. Freeze to film, while Pattinson wants Court of Owls and Calendar Man. Court of Owls certainty fits into the detective/secrets of Gotham uncovered vibes. Though Idk how they handle the zombie assassin thing. |
New clip released on the Jimmy Kimmel show. Apologies as I don’t know how to embed

Even though the show went to shit by the second season. |
I think I watched part of season 1 of Gotham and just couldn’t get into it
I was enjoying it but then my cable box died and I lost a bunch of recordings and never watched it again.. must have been season 3 maybe...
You can get the entire series on Hulu, I think, no DVR needed
It was a very uneven show.
Gotham was great for the first season. By the third season it was a clusterfuck.

Google Bruce Wayne and then click on the bat signal on the right for a surprise

That spoiler free GD?
And not surprised about its reception. Reeves is coming off the heels of two very well reviewed, very financially successful ape films, with his let me in remake right behind those. I want a fan but cloverfield was also successful with critics and at the box office. Now that reviews are in and my bias desire for a critically acclaimed movie have been met, I can go full on excitement mode as I’m already booked to see this Friday morning. |
Yes. He'll make another video with spoilers later in the week.
I saw it earlier today and had a good time. Dano was excellent.
About to start in 10 minutes. Very excited. Primed myself by watching Chinatown again and Seven the last few nights.
Already reviewed it in the movie review thread but damn did I love this movie.
one thing i find particularly interesting is the film has nothing to offer children. it plays out well for me a an individual but its an odd thought to have a batman film that isnt remotely marketable to a younger audience. from the pacing to the general plot structure and the light horror elements besides this film has nearly no chance in appealing, let alone holding the attention of, a young boy audience.
im not saying that as a positive or a negative. just a general observation. |
It very much felt like an adults only movie and targeted at the 18-34 crowd. Which I don’t think is bad. It’s refreshing given how many marvel movies we’ve been given over the years.
The last good Batman had Jack Nicholson in it.
bad take or troll i cant tell

the batman is cruising to a 120mil opening weekend. many are comparing it to spideys recent 260mil open but since this is an R feature i feel like that's unfair. very strong open for an R film
would land it right behind deadpool 2 (125mil)
one thing i think might make this film struggle is becaus it so plot driven repeat views might be low so it could potentially have less legs than other films in the franchise/genre
probably worth noting the deadpool 2 had half the production budget of the batman but still. i think 120 is a good open for a reboot that lacked consumer convidence going in. word of mouth will give it a good 3 weeks id wager.
Post COVID numbers are different.
Give me that at least. |
the new spidey is post covid and had the 2nd biggest open of all time behind avengers endgame. a film with a 19 picture lead up. in a lot of ways its not reasonable to compare spidey 3 with avengers 4.
there was a covid period that absolutely impacted tickets but we are post covid. the news and the government might tell you youre in pandemic but every day people have completely moved on. |
The next big studio movie i believe is Morbius and that’s another month out. So far the Batman is tracking to be really popular with general audiences, which is what counts, and it’s got that audience all to itself for a few more weekends.
My wife, who isn’t into superhero movies and refused to watch the Nolan trilogy, loved this movie. Namely because it’s a police procedural style story being worked by a guy in a bat suit. But the unraveling narrative and Batman detecting is what sucked her in. I’ve heard the same from other non fanatic moviegoers that I’m close with. |
i think once the people who were skeptical catch this on hbo max next month praise is going to get even louder. nolans run level? i dont see that due to the rating. but its going to get more popular over time i think.
The movie is pg13 in the states, so it won’t have trouble getting those younger audiences in. Not sure where you’re at country wise but in the US the rating won’t hinder it. Only constant complaint I see is it’s not humorous at all and it’s a very serious, time heavy film, which is a huge left turn for audiences thinking they’re getting a fun marvel style movie.
Then again, Joker was really bleak and it made a killing. No pun intended. |
joker did make big money
and if the film is pg13 then the returns are pretty bad tbh...still i think streaming will help
Second viewing got an ovation at the end. Theater was packed.
While I agree work you Destor about the opening not being as big as it could, we have to remember that this movie is a reboot and the last two films with Batman were turds, Pattinson doesn’t have the mainstream following he likely will after this movie and is still shaking off twilight dust from the average moviegoer. I think it’ll have a strong second weekend and hold its own through the middle of next month when it goes to HBO max, where it’ll likely get numbers. |
i dont blame the film. the dc brand is weak and the lead is trying to win over a demo that actively hates him. im certain though this will be like pirates of the Caribbean. the 1st film didnt sell tickets. it was a hit at home. when the 2nd film dropped everyone who passed on the original turned out in droves. i think this incarnation has a future. but...opening weekend...still under on recouping production costs never mind marketing...yeah its not great. in 2 year though public perception will have shifted on this. bump this thread and quote me.
as long as warner backs the reeves incarnation i think itll do fine long term
I think they are 'all in' since Penguin is getting an HBO series or something like that

That was stellar. I love that he looks like he was dropped in acid. More please.
Really think we need to put the Joker on ice for a decade.
They could do MORE, for sure.
Court of Owls seems like it'd be PERFECT for the current atmosphere. Red Hood and/or Arkham Knight (but Red Hood really). Court of Owls would be a great choice for a movie IMO. |
I would love court if owls. No man’s land also seems like an easy set up given the ending of this one.
