Wrestlers used to relish getting stabbed and shot at. Now they can't deal with social media trolls.

Though, as has been pointed out, Bully probably got blown that night for his troubles. I can respect that part at least.

Ole certainly plays off the getting slashed from nipple to knee thing off as no biggie. Ole is so money.

And then Narc and Tb1's Front Yard Wrestling promotion practically ran them out of business.

WOW’s New MAGA Character is a Step in the Wrong Direction

"Right before the match, Jones snatched the microphone from announcer Shaul Guerrero and started to spout off about how she wanted to “make wrestling great again.” She then advocated for America building THE WALL, then called the Los Angeles crowd hypocrites for not wanting The Wall when they hide behind the walls of private gated communities. Jones would add, “So what’s the difference?”

If the promo itself didn’t come off as too on the nose, her opponent sure was: Azteca from Mexico City, Mexico. The little cherry on top came when Jones defeated the Mexican athlete clean in the middle of the ring."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A little bit of context, posting about Mandy Leone got me thinking about wrestlers I've met at local shows that were totally chill and awesome, so I looked up what Jessie Jones / Jessie Belle Smothers has been up to... apparently, that

I'm surprised that didn't make it to national news

Destor 06-04-2019 12:59 PM

Jesse Belle has always got it. Smart girl. Good worker.

That's genius, if you do a conservative MAGA character, the place to do it would be when you move to a West coast promotion

Like I said, she was super cool & approachable when I saw her, & she planted a kiss on my cheek in my photo. She seemed a little caught offguard that someone was expressly walking up to meet & chat.

The Progressive Liberal Daniel Richards is a tremendous ginnick

Loose Cannon 06-04-2019 03:39 PM

haven't read all the comments, but this sounds so weird coming from ROH. ROH seems much bigger then somewhere security would take you to the back to be yelled at by some old wrestler in charge. seems like something that would happen at a 150 seat show in some bingo hall in Alabama with like D'Lo Brown main eventing

Destor 06-04-2019 03:41 PM

ROH seats about 2500 soooooooo its smaller than it looks tbf. They do a great job with their lighting to mask that.

Loose Cannon 06-04-2019 03:41 PM

like can you imagine security taking some WWE 25 year old fan to the back for being a dick toward Bailey. And then it's HHH running him down and telling him to go be a fan.

actually i can definitely see Hunter doing that

Evil Vito 06-04-2019 03:43 PM

Most fans would've just marked out to go backstage and wouldn't have learned any "lesson" from it.

Supreme Olajuwon 06-04-2019 04:14 PM

I think this story is way better if you believe Bubba’s version. That he actually was extremely calm and polite and friendly to this fan. Just picturing Bubba kindly sitting this guy down in a chair, with a hand on his shoulder explaining the dangers of toxic masculinity in today’s society.

“Hey friend. I saw you out there tonight. Looked like you were having a great time. That’s great, that’s great. But listen friend, while we want you to have the best time out there, I need you to understand the plight of women in our country. They deal with so much on a daily basis and we have to honor them, not tear them down. You see back in the 1800s women did not yet have the right to vote and times were tough...”

Maybe it's a work but Corny suggests the dude won't be back for the company again.

There are also numerous other rasslers making fools of themselves using #IStandWithSonny.

WTF is life nowadays. This shit needs to stop. Chinless bastards acting untouchable hurling abuse towards people who have done no wrong.

This is PETA liberalism. Do as we say or it's inaccurate yet endless abuse and death threats from a bunch of granola eating, canvas shoe wearing fuck heads.

There's nothing wrong with the world. This is a wrestling issue. These are the same stupid fucks who hear Cornette explain, for example, why Kevin Steen and El Generico weren't pushed in ROH, and then see them put into a shit program in WWE and go "See!" like that was the point he was making. This is a bunch of dumb-ass wrestling people who can't read or listen to actual points misrepresent an entire argument just because they perceive it to be low-hanging fruit.

The same thing happened with Dave Meltzer when he made his comments about Peyton Royce. It was pretty fucking obvious Meltz was making a point about WWE's sexist attitudes and how they encourage women to get breast enhancements. Half the WWE locker-room dog-piled on calling Meltz a body-shamer or whatever. Seth Rollins gave him a tutting and then accepting a big paycheck from the Saudi regime.

I'm glad MLW are still using him. Stephen P. New might get some work coming out of all this.

They all say "sexual harassment," but none of them make a reference to whatever it was that was harassing. Was he harassing women performers or was he sexually harassing women performers? There's a big difference between the two, and I'm not sure how a guy in a wrestling crowd manages to do that to in any sort of effective way. You don't require silence to perform like a concert violinist.

This all makes ROH look extremely tiny and amateur.

Mr. Nerfect 06-04-2019 06:05 PM

Oh, for some reason, I thought "The Draw" was a fan. It's Sami Callihan.

Wtf has Solomon Crowe ever drawn? And apparently he got some on Rich Bocchini and the both got shots in on commentary and he won't be back in MLW. When the color commentator is more valuable than you are, it's probably time to stop calling yourself "The Draw."

And that's fair enough you disagreed. You were reasonable and intelligent in your disagreement (more so than me), gave me plenty to think about, and it turned out you were probably right.

You also don't seem to have a pseudo-sexual obsession with me like the half the board.

Got no clue what happened to this forum, but I also had no clue Savio and Big Vic were the same person, so that explains a lot.

ROH released another official statement regarding this incident.

Quote:

Ring of Honor prides itself on providing a fun and entertaining environment for both our fans and wrestlers to experience professional wrestling at the highest level.

Fans are encouraged to cheer, boo, and chant during the show while wrestlers interact both positively and in rivalry, as that is the engagement that makes the ROH experience what it is. Wrestlers interacting with fans is core to the experience, however, under no circumstance should any of our athletes or staff confront or engage fans outside the bounds of this entertainment experience or outside the bounds of the area that hosts this experience. We hold all of our athletes and staff members to the highest standards and, because of the actions over the weekend, we fell short of meeting those standards.

We are still in the process of investigating this matter as well as reviewing and assessing internal security protocols to ensure a safe environment for all fans and athletes. All of our athletes and staff will also be trained and reminded of our policies and protocols for fan interaction and appropriate behavior in all situations.

To our amazing and wonderful fans, we apologize for the matter that transpired this past weekend as it does not reflect who we are as an organization or how we hope to engage with our fans. ROH fans are known worldwide for their passion, admiration, and appreciation for our athletes, and we share this same admiration and appreciation for our fans. We encourage all of our fans to continue attending our events and supporting our amazing athletes in a respectful manner as they have done in the past, and we promise to continue delivering what the fans deserve - the best wrestling and the best fan experience on the planet.

Damian Rey 2.0 06-07-2019 01:15 AM

Would this be a fireable offense? I think Bubba crossed the line asking a fan to be escorted by himself to the back and basically left there by himself to be grilled by Dudley. Instead of just throwing him out.

Even if the fan in question is a steaming pile of shit, he shouldn't be walked to the back to be confronted by someone who is representing the company.

SlickyTrickyDamon 06-07-2019 01:40 AM

Could easily be grounds for release of his contract or whatever job he has as a trainer/producer. Not sure what his status is there but whatever it is could be in jeopardy.

Emperor Smeat 06-07-2019 01:51 AM

Should be but probably won't due to Bully's status in the company. Same for the other booker who was also involved for bringing the guy backstage for some talks and Matt Taven assuming his alleged incident is true.

At worst, a fine and/or small suspension would be enough for those involved in the ringside incident.

I don't think there's much ROH is gonna be able to do to avoid what I think is inevitable. Aew is going to me on a massive network for their tv and they're coming off a big debut show. If New Japan is serious about growing their base in the states, they'd be foolish not to partner with what's going to be the #2 US wrestling promotion.

Evil Vito 06-08-2019 10:46 AM

I find it interesting that Bubba's tweet concludes with him reaffirming his masculinity because he defended three women who "needed defending" (insinuating that they couldn't defend themselves). Does his being a man have anything to do with it particularly? Why does he feel that the three women needed defending? Do women feel that they can't defend themselves at RoH? Are the only two options being a bully or a man? Couldn't someone other than a man stand up for the women? If so why did he need to be a man to do it rather than just a person?

His response doesn't sound particularly female empowering.

Ol Dirty Dastard 06-08-2019 12:05 PM

at the same time, Brody and Hanson used to smash the shit out of fans. And we applaud them for that. If the fan was being whack and Angelina smashed him, I wonder how he'd feel. I'd probably pop

I'd wager a guess and suggest that he did it because he's banging Velvet Sky and wants to continue banging Velvet Sky.

Sepholio 06-08-2019 06:24 PM

Did he mean literally defending them or defending their honor though? I can see him playing the role of white knight over their honor considering his gf being one of the women just like Noid suggested in the above post. Probably also was a little bit of anger peppered in because the guy made reference to him in his remarks.

Impact kicked a fan out of their NYC TV tapings this week for being a dick and recording, then last night kicked out a fan that got into it with Taya. Johnny Impact mooned the guy from the top rope and it took about two minutes before they threw the guy out and the match resumed.

Some details regarding the fan incident at Impact's recent tv tapings.

That led to some fans blaming Taya for the situation, but having been there, she was certainly not in the wrong as the fan had been acting out all night before the main event. The fan was finally removed when a security guard approached him and he responded by arguing with the guard, at which point security removed him. There was a lot of talk after that had Atlas Security been there, it never would have taken to the main event for the fan to be tossed.

Impact had to toss another fan out of their second NYC taping for harassing Don Callis repeatedly, who was also tossed after repeatedly being warned.
