Given how all the other Horsemen got their shine, I am now of the opinion that Tully Blanchard is the most underrated wrestler of all time.
The Magnum vs Tully cage match about a month before this is a fucking work of art. If I can get a good copy of it somewhere on a site compatible with watch-a-longs, that might be my first Saturday watch-a-long. It’s SO good.
Their I Quit match is by a large margin the best I Quit match of all time
But even then, just on a day to day basis, Tully is so fucking good. |

So far, Youtube.

wait do you guys do this on Zoom or something or just type your thoughts? would be cool to do an actual watch along where we can be on video
Type our thoughts.
We've discussed doing something like that. |
I thought the site we used last time had voice chat but it didn’t seem to work. Gonna try a new site tonight.
By the way, I can confirm that tonight’s show will be KICKING OFF with some hot Garvin-on-jobber action.
Just me this week it looks like. I’ll just post the show here early. Lol

Lol damn it I'm here. Had to work late.
Damn wanted to watch this week but got home late... will try to catch up myself

I have been watching a lot 87 World Championship Wrestling on Peacock lately and the format is so good. It's such an easy hour and a half watch. I love the interviews they do right before and after matches. Most of the segments feature the top guys and there's only like 4 or 5 legit angles going on at once. Throw a few squash matches in their to build new talent and that's pretty much it. It's such a perfect format. I'm watching the shows leading up to Ole being kicked out of the horsemen. Dick Murdoch just turned heel and alligned with the Russians. Love it
Dick Murdoch is the greatest. More people need to see him.
his promos are incredible. the 80's guys were a special breed.
Murdoch yelling "shut up you buncha Kayfabers" to the crowd lol
What a lid!!!!
One of my top 3 favourite matches of all time is Dick Murdoch vs Afa at the October 1984 MSG show. Murdoch at his best.

Old heads help me get into Ronnie Garvin because I do not get. Seems very bland.
hahaha, I'm so glad you brought him up because yesterday i literally said to myself he is the all time blandest "high profile" wrestler i've ever seen. And I'm almost 100% positive Vince never even saw the guy work and just signed him because he heard he was a former NWA Champion. Vince got him and his best feud was basically against Greg Valentine, which was a complete throw away feud.
So yes Ronnie Garvin was terrible. Now Jimmy Garvin, that guy was money |
LOVED that feud with Valentine.
This thread led me down the road to a Regal v Inoki match in WCW. Had no idea.
Quote:
He’s a short, stocky tough guy who just chops, punches and stretches people and sounds like Lou Costello on the mic.
What’s not to love? |
Quote:
Also only recently learned that Ronnie is Jimmy’s real life stepfather even though Ronnie is only 7 years older than Jimmy. |

We doing this piss tonight?
I’ll start it. May have to duck out of the live watch-along for a bit though.
I hope everyone has mailed in their dream match postcards.

Show starts in 5. As always, change your username in the chat settings. |
Ronnie Garvin versus hapless jobber is the only dream match I care about.
4 viewers tonight. Ties the record. BOOLA BOOLA!

We got possibly the most incomprehensible dusty Rhodes promo, in the history of incomprehensible dusty Rhodes promos. Called all the women in the audience ugly for some reason, and then spouted out nonsense words.
All while wearing a ball cap promoting a ski company.
Lol wait till 1988 when he starts going off on the crowd for booing him. It's why he started doing more pre taped interviews. This video is amazing lol.
If we can hit 8 live viewers this Thursday night I’ll start a second night doing WWF Primetime Wrestling watch-a-longs.
I'd loooooooove to do Prime Time watchalongs
I would too. It’s what I grew up on. Let’s band together and make it happen, TPWW.
Do it so I can talk endlessly about 80s WWF jobbers
8 viewers. Thursday night. 9:00 est/6:00 pst. When we hit that mark we expand.
We had 4 last week and 2 of them were new. It’s doable! |
I'll make this happen
i'll be back this week to pump up those numbers. now i gotta catch up on what i missed...

- great "hump the neck" stretch by garvin. - why did jimmy valiant get his thumb wet before jabbing the golden terror in the throat with it? then he's just yelling about daddies and babies. baby. - i already knew this, but ric flair makes everyone look like a joker when he gets on the mic. - tony zane's face looks like a mix of STD and zeeboe. - impressed by art pritts. didn't think the match would be anywhere near that competitive. - that dusty rhodes promo was 100% cocaine. couldn't keep a damn train of thought on the tracks lol. - wait is that the big fucking boss man? well then. - lee peek got me pining for a mulkey. - 20 tons of steel on a steel toe boot, no problem? 20 TONS? - that rock n roll express double dropkick never gets old. - lol cornette complaining about thousands of 12 year old girls threatening his life. - kinda tuned out during the tully match to answer some questions in my thread and then garvin is talking again? ffs. - yeah i'm kinda fucked up so maybe i'll come back to the next ep later... |

- these episodes are the first time i'm watching any magnum in earnest, and i'm won over by that real subdued intensity he has. - lolllllllllllll george south! i can't even look at this guy. - raging bull continuing the trend of everyone constantly staying "baby." "at christmastime i get ten, not nine, christmas cards." what? - i love the idea of someone approaching arn in a bathroom to say, "hey, dusty is gonna break your leg." - totally zoned out during the next match. this is far more fun with the group. - garvin the exact opposite of flair on the mic. i'm gonna take a nap. - at this point i'm having more fun watching this birdlike ref run around the ring. - whoops missed an entire raging bull match and now dusty is here. yep there he goes saying he doesn't see any pretty women. did he just try to say tuchus and say something like cockass? and then make a fart sound? HAHAHA ok #1-wwf-fan now i get the boola boola talk. - fucking thunderfoot back in the mix. glad the other jobber did the job. - cornette loves talking about feuding with 12 year olds. - whoops missing another match, realizing at the timeout! who is this stout little oldberg in the yellow trunks? oh it's over who cares. yeah the baron knows: it doesn't matter! - why the fuck is valiant talking about needing a dip lol? he keeps putting that damn thumb in his mouth! that is a really pretty elbow he dropped. - paul jones is $10,000 a lot or not, man? - oh shit i thought mark hawk's legs were actually that white for a second. we've seen some very pasty jobbers. garvin a damn vanilla midget. - ok good thanks for answering the $ question, ron bass. - no thank you to this black bart match. - oh shit yeah magnum ta bring that straight up intensity now! fuck nikita koloff! - oh rocky king... - lol flair "now david crockett, come on over here one time, guy." - solid main event. one of the better wrestling matches i can recall of the episodes we've watched so far. |
Don Kernodle is great.
I’m off work so I’m in for tonight.
Have I missed any enthusiastic job guys? Undoubtedly... |
My oh my... look at that first pasty jobber.
George South you milky bastard. |
We need to do a jobber night once we have this thing pinned as a weekly event.
I pray Noid joins in someday too, and anyone else who still has some fire in their soul. |
It’s just nice watching TV across nations.
It’s exactly how I hoped the future would be when I was a kid. |
1 more hour!
So... Bad news and good news.
Tonight’s show will be a little different. Apparently there was no 2-1-86 show for some reason. Instead, we’ll be watching the Superstars on the Superstation show from the following weekend. Unfortunately, it won’t be as jobber-rific but the card is stacked. Ron Garvin gets his chance to force Ric Flair to not be able to pay his taxes by taking the world championship from him (I don’t get it either. His words, not mine.) Dusty vs Tully. Midnights vs Rock n Roll Express... |
Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Great show so far.
A Hall of Fame lineup in the chat tonight
Great show tonight.
Ya'll are missing put. |
That was good shit.
The highlight was getting a good look at Joel Watts for absolutely no reason at all. Bill Watts was probably furious about his secret shame being broadcast to the world there. |
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/-A3y2ndf3XE" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Joel Watts is an unfortunate looking man.
Rock n Roll Express v Midnight Express was an absolute banger.
Still struggling to figure out who Linda Curry is.
Quote:
She was the sister of then Georgia Tech football coach Bill Curry. They thought she'd make a great local tie but she didn't know anything about wrestling.
Still better than the race car guy sitting next to Magnum “In a few weeks my legs won’t work no more” Tits&Ass
Her clueless smile mixed with Magnum’s disappointment after the opening match is a great visual.
just wanna say i think this is one of the coolest fucking things to happen to TPWW.
Join us next Thursday!
WWE Fan how do I set one of these up on the fly?
I fancy doing one tonight, don’t care if nobody joins me. |
I had family over yesterday, but I'll be back on next week.
Even Newstead dropped by

If anyone gets bored check out some 1992 with me, Seanny One Balls
https://sync-tube.de/rooms/pxyJt8W2t |
I’m there. This is the era I actually remember.
I bailed out just before you posted that.
I sat through three bad matches and a couple of mediocre promos, got mad at the lack of jobber enthusiasm and quit. Jim Ross had a really great shit eating grin back then though. Back when his face still worked. |
Gertner jumped in for a bit too.
You missed a jobber vs jobber match that was rather fascinating. |
Not a big 92 WCW fan
Who is
I might do a Coliseum Home Video watch tonight if people are interested
Blood Sweat & Gears or GTFO
Smack em' Whack em'
I will be online for this Thursday.
If anyone wants to stay on for a Royal Rumble 92 special afterwards then let me know. |
More than likely a yes for RR 92. Will definitely make the 86 show.
I'll stay
We talking the whole show or just the Rumble? Cause I can’t commit to watching the Beverly Brothers and the Bushwackers go 15 minutes.
I mean, is there even a reason to watch the show without Bushwhackers v Beverly's?
Lol ‘92 Rumble after party sounds good to me.
OMG The Beverly Brothers - forgot about them, that's crazy.
should do one of these during the day when im not busy with the fam
Quote:
haha, yeah. I remember when I was younger and my two older brothers would always say I was a "Beverly Brother" to tease me :D
Lmao! You should definitely join us!
Quote:
Just the Rumble itself, it’s still on WWE’s YouTube channel. |

I think there’s potential for more events if people fancy it. It’s a lot of fun watching wrestling with TPWW posters. Everybody should try it. |
