The show is going to be great I have zero doubt. They just have kind of diluted the draw of it by booking so many multiman matches. Though still, it will be a crazy show with tons of insane spots. Likely going to see Cesaro and Zack as well as Tanahashi and Mox, those will be great singles.

I miss the days when the best people made it onto a ppv and if you weren't good enough, then too bad. Instead, they fill the card with cluster fuck spot fest multi man matches. |

Watched the Christian Cage segment. What a handsome man, and what star power he exuded. Easily one of the best promos I have seen on AEW. I am #ALL-IN on Luchasaurus unmasking, becoming Christian's new problem solver, and helping Christian win the world title.

Sounds like another barnburner from the premier wrestling company in the world. This AEW/NJPW crossover has really shown what both sides bring to the table. You can’t sleep on excellence any longer.

I haven’t heard the Christian promo. I’m sure it’s good. He doesn’t need to swear though. He’d make it sound better than most, but it’s still unnecessary. It’s crazy how so many people don’t get how limiting cursing is when it comes to media. It’s a silly little hang-up, but it’s one that such a large portion of your audience has.
And I have noticed that wrestlers don’t know how to swear. I’m reminded of the line from The Shape of Things — “boys always think having a potty-mouth makes them cute.” That’s paraphrased, but whatever. They don’t understand how to do it effectively. It comes off like the cheeky boy in class who just figured out what these words mean and plans to get a reaction out of saying them. Just make the meaning behind what you’re saying important. Randy Orton sounds cooler saying “frick” than these guys sound saying “bullshit” and “motherfucker” or whatever, because it makes him sound like someone conscious he’s actually coming to you via the medium of television. And he doesn’t need to hide behind obscenities for impact. |
Yeah, that's why I hate the profanity.... Christian was ok in the promo, but while a face in AEW I saw him use profanity very much in the "look at me I'm cool" way that Chris Jericho seems to absolutely live doing these days just because he can.

Christian’s promo was too long but I liked the gist of it; him being pissed he missed a big pay day, jumping on the up and comer’s coattails, and jumping off when the gravy train made its last stop. The Luchasaurus thing was interesting too.
Excited for Okada. I get the annoyance of the multi man match but given how many guys are hurt, I’m ok with it. He’s still in a title match, and they threw Adam Cole in there hopefully to eat the pin. Tana looks slower than I remember. But I think him and Mox will do fine. And I think the ace is gonna win the belt for some reason. I want Malakai to win gold dammit. |

The whole Okada showing up the show before the PPV was weird. Can only imagine they were hoping to get Danielson cleared.

I imagine the plan was Danielson vs. ZSJ, but when Danielson wasn’t cleared they have begged Okada to come in as a make-good.

I hope it’s an elimination match and Okada beats Cole, Page and White into oblivion. He can pin them all.
Also, Okada should be Danielson’s pick to face ZSJ. Make it a night of Okada. Then Okada wins the G1 and chooses to go against Danielson in the Tokyo Dome. The New Japan guys can get upset Okada looked past them and you’ve got stories set up for when Okada is cemented. |
They’re probably going to pay Claudio out the ass to come in and wrestle ZSJ. Unless they can get some other technical wizard, like Biff Busick to randomly come in. From the existent AEW roster, Samoa Joe or Jonathan Gresham makes sense from their side. I’d go with Joe against ZSJ, personally.
But I’d seriously try and go with the idea of Okada winning the World Title back, winning the G1 and going against Danielson. The rest of the card could look like: * Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Kota Ibushi - the loyalist vs. the renegade * Tetsuya Naito vs. Shingo Takagi - LIJ clashes * Will Ospreay vs. Jon Moxley - IWGP US Title * Jay White challenging for the All-Atlantic Championship * FTR vs. Dangerous Tekkers - IWGP Tag Team Championship |

It’s been shit. Partly due to being so close to happening after they just had a ppv and partly because it feels like they had no idea what talent was gonna be available.
Next year they should just turn it into a New Japan v AEW cup type of deal. |
The pop for Okada was impressive. As someone wihout a lot of background in NJPW that took me by surprise despite my own excitement.
OC vs. Osprey will be a banger! Get Adam Cole off my screen. I think AEW missed a trick not profiling the NJPW guys a bit more pre there debuts. |

I have not heard of too many people who are enjoying this build, but you do have to remember that this is almost definitely deliberate. It’s so everyone can rise to the occasion and knock everyone’s socks off at the PPV.
