This sounds awesome. Of course, the pics are great. The graphics are simply amazing. I'm surprized THQ are porting the SD Vs. RAW games over to X-Box 360, but, it might be for the best[considering how RAW[s]1& 2 and WM 21 were substandard compared to the SD games].

The details sound great. Here's my dilemma: I won't wait for 5-6 months for an X-box 360 and PS3 is rumored to be $499[US] upon release. I'm sorry, but, I won't pay 500 bucks for ANY game system. I'd stick with its PS2 counterpart before payin' that much....

Anyway, this game looks kickass. Good info.

The PS3 has been rumored to be anything from $200-$1,000+ which makes them all have the same credibility and that's pretty much none. The latest is that it would be around $615 when converting from euros but that doesn't mean anything because it is usually more expensive around Europe anyways. I do agree with you that $500 is excessive for a game console and I don't think I would pay it but it's also a blu-ray disc player which will start out at about $1,000. So for a console, it's expensive. For a blu-ray player and console, pretty good deal.

The updating roster is what has me most interested. If they make it possible for custom tracks then it will be incredible. The community for a game like that would be great.

No. It's complete specs can be found in Wikipedia.com.

So what makes it so different from X-Box besides speed increase?

Dorkchop 04-07-2006 11:34 PM

I wonder if Rey Mysterio will have Eddie chants and will bring up Eddie all the time in the game and dedicate everything he does in the game to Eddie and has Eddie run on sentences.

they can even get a Guatamalan midget to do the voiceovers.

Wonder if Cena's gonna get X-Pac heat.

In an ideal (unlikley) world, I'd have attires for everyone, Hogan's could date back to whatever shit he was doing then, shawn michaels could go back to his WM15 attire his DX attire and his nWo attire. HHHs could go back to the paul levasque and the DX attire. Rey Rey could just have a mix n match attire thing goin' on.

I was gonna get X-Box 360 for this game, but not if it's gonna be the same thing as a PS2 without the black coloring on the unit.

UmbrellaCorporation 04-08-2006 03:20 PM

I'd rather fork over 500 for the PS3 than get a 360. Even if the maximum power of the 360 isn't tapped, it'll still be more of a difference graphically than the 360 makes. It's not even that much of an improvement over the Xbox.

I'd love to see multiple outfits for everyone. And none of this "trips in a business suit" bullshit. Almost everyone has had multiple costumes anyway, and with the extra size of the Blu-Ray discs, this should be easy for the PS3.

Even the PS2 should be easy, should they stop being so fucking lazy about programming (In truth, most Sony-system games should probrably take between 1/3 and 2/3 the space they do. Could you imagine 3 times the Smackdown? )

Ideally, they should got back to a CAW-Based system. We've gotten to a point where, if we really wanted to, we could make a system where CAW-parts could look as good as pre-rendered (In fact, DoR's series was getting sorta close), meaning they could actually make editable rosters again, instead of trying to make the wrestlers even MORE realistic (Which never works, because HHH is still nothing like the real thing, and Flair's ripped like nobody's business).

This is pretty much totally possible, thought they'd need a more powerful CAW editing tool if we were able to do the same.

What Would Kevin Do? 04-10-2006 01:37 PM

You know what I really want?

The ability to upload images into the PS3, and hence, into Smackdown vs Raw.

Think how fucking awesome it would be to upload an imagine, size it in the game, and use it for clothes.

Also, if they got really fucking ambitious, they could animate clothes, even in CAW... I highly doubt they would, but it would be awesome.

Just John 04-10-2006 01:42 PM

I think superstar editing should return, sure they'll be the guys that'll turn Batista's head blue and get kicks out of it, but for the rest of us it means we can update attires and styles. What if we want DX HBK? Then we edit him. And I want to edit attributes again.

Are you fucking retarded? Did you even read the question before you answered with "Blu-Ray?"

Also, we will see a game that has precious little more than what is on 360 and PS2, because designing it cross-platform separately is too much work for most. But that's a tangent--Are you illiterate, or just retarded?

See, that's EXACTLY what I'm talking about, too. Many people argue that you can't make them completely editable simply because they're pre-rendered, but they don't HAVE to be anymore. But you clearly can. We have the technology. It just takes a lot more effort, and effort bad.

It's not that simple. The more information the characters take, the fewer wrestlers can fit onscreen. Lazy programming means bigger characters less efficiency and fewer available characters onscreen.

Drakul 04-11-2006 12:39 AM

I don't care how many they can fit on screen. I prefer matches with just me and a single opponent.

James Steele 04-11-2006 12:53 AM

I think anymore than 8 (not including the ref) is just overkill. Seriously, if you could have 10 people on the screen then the entire damn screen would be stamina meters. I find 6 meters annoying as hell as it is.

What Would Kevin Do? 04-11-2006 12:55 AM

I'd say 8 should be the MAX for guys on the screen. I'd love to have legit Survivor Series matches. However, even eight would be really cluttered in a battle royale.

Cuzziebro 04-11-2006 05:58 AM

I wouldn't mind having atleast one actual Survivor Series match with 8 superstars. Unless they make the superstar bar smaller or something then 8 is even pushing it.

How about only the legal man has his bar showing?

What Would Kevin Do? 04-11-2006 06:03 AM

Well, the bars don't bother me as I usually just turn them off anyway. I'm more concerned with targeting.

Cuzziebro 04-11-2006 06:06 AM

Yeah I was thinking about that, it's not a bad idea. Then you could have a 10 man Tag Match. But you're still faced with the battle royal problem. Some dick who wants to have a mass Battle Royal will bitch because 10 men can be played in a Tag Match but not in a Battle Royal.

I hate the way you need to cycle through everyone includingthe ref before you are looking at your target. I usually hold the target button to face my nearest opponent but sometimes I end up facing the ref.

Cuzziebro 04-11-2006 06:11 AM

I hate it when it changes automatically and you go to hit your man but you hit the ref instead. I know you turn auto off but I like auto change, except for that.

Drakul 04-11-2006 06:14 AM

The ref better stay out the way this time. It got annoying when you where pummeling a guy and the ref decides to get in the way and feel you up and you accidently whack him in the face a few times and get DQ'd

Not to mention when you're trying to eliminate someone, and you switch away from them.

All three targeting systems suck ass. They need to scrap it and rebuild entirely.

They'd better have the side trons and entrance area trons for each wrestler, for the PS3 version. They have the space.

If you don't know what I"m talking about, look at an entrance closely next time. For example, with Trish Stratus, her regular titantron plays on the big ParalleloTron. In the area where she would come out, it is all white, then when the main part of her theme hits, it says "TRISH". The side trons to either side of the entrance way will flash "TRISH" then "STRATUS" I believe. The PS2 Smackdown games only had the RAW/Smackdown logos animating on the side and entrance trons, witht he main video playing on the big screen.

I want realism, dammit! It wouldn't be too hard to implement, trust me. All a matter of getting the videos from WWE.

Kane Knight 04-14-2006 02:38 PM

Especially if you could edit them with your own "crawls."

Evil Vito 04-14-2006 02:40 PM

<font color=goldenrod>Hoping I can cough up some money for a PS3 in time for this.....the PS2 verison will probably look like shit in comparison.

Hoping we can get at least 8 on a screen for Survivor Series matches. The more the merrier IMO, just eliminate the stamina bars for those matches. Sure you can argue that you wouldn't know when to do your finisher, but how often do you see a finisher in the middle of a battle royal? Maybe the bars can come back when its down to the final 4 or something.

And for SS matches, only show the bars of the two legal men.</font>

<font color=goldenrod>Hmm, now that I think about it, since this game will be on 4 systems (PS2, PSP, PS3, 360)...any chance that the PS3 or 360 versions will carry a bigger roster? Those things have a helluva lot of space, and they could probably squeeze in the majority of the roster

Since I'm bored, I'll take a crack at the roster, I'll go with 50 current wrestlers (though the PS3 and 360 versions could probably hold upwards of 60)...keep in mind, it was proved last year the cutoff is somewhere between April and June (since a ton of July release victims made it in)

Raw: <b>John Cena</b>, Triple H, Edge, Carlito, Chris Masters, Kane, Big Show, Ric Flair, Rob Van Dam, Shelton Benjamin, Shawn Michaels, Vince McMahon, Mickie James, Trish Stratus, Lita, Torrie Wilson, Candice Michelle, Umaga, Viscera, Trevor Murdoch, Eugene, Snitsky, and all 5 Spirit Squad members

Smackdown: <b>Rey Mysterio, Kurt Angle</b>, JBL, Batista, Randy Orton, The Undertaker, Booker T, Sharmell, Boogeyman, Mr. Kennedy, Johnny Nitro, Joey Mercury, Melina, Gregory Helms, The Great Khali, Daivairi, Mark Henry, Lashley, Finlay, Chris Benoit, Matt Hardy, Paul London, Brian Kendrick, Burchill, Kid Kash

The bold ones are the only ones officially confirmed via pic/vid. A decent roster. If one of the new systems is capable of holding 10 guys on the screen, I'd say do it just to see the Sprit Squad's entrance (and I'd probably make a bizarre stable with Taker, Boogeyman, Kane, etc. and give them that entrance). Though speaking of the SS, if they are all in I've got a bad feeling THQ might slack off and make them all look exactly the same and with identical movesets.

Also, they'd be able to once again utilize Daivairi's VOs when you make him a manager. They could do the same thing with Armando Alejandro Estrada or even Shelton's Momma. I also kinda hope Vince is once again a non-playable guy, I'd rather use the spot on Goldust or something</font>

And for SS matches, only show the bars of the two legal men.

Howabout the names in the corners? For 8 people, you get two in each corner (One on the left of the bottom left, one on the bottom). Keep it small, let it flash when a special is up, give it a border when you bank one.

As for damage, maybe bring up the damage thing only when a joint changes color. Stamina only shows up when you breathe or hit 0. It'd only be a problem if 8 people were breathing, and if they are, they're not really moving or anything.

Why not? I will, too. But I'll go with 60 since, like you said, they should be able to hold more.
