I dont know who to cheer for........

Rock Bottom 02-16-2004 10:38 PM

Main event estimated time: 28 minutes long?

Wonder what will happen tonight. Must be something huge if the main event is starting this early. I expect this match to rule.

And no, it will not be a slobber knocker.

HeartBreakMan2k 02-16-2004 10:39 PM

This is a match I personally have waited for since like 96

wonder how long before HHH sticks his nose into the match :shifty:

Mr. JL 02-16-2004 10:41 PM

In my opinion HBK-Benoit should be happening at Backlash in Canada... after Benoit beats Triple H clean one on one at Wrestle Mania XX. But hey... this is still f'n sweet!

HeartBreakMan2k 02-16-2004 10:42 PM

Opinions so far

Loved the set up for Vince-Bisch.
Great womans match, Molly, Victoria, and Trish looked gorgeous.
Great but extremely obvious advancement of Jericho, Trish, and the CLB must be more work from the writer Steph hired.
Can't wait for the return of the dead man.
Match of the year canidate next!

HeartBreakMan2k 02-16-2004 10:43 PM

Holy crap they're making Chris look strong.

HeartBreakMan2k 02-16-2004 10:45 PM

I love the roles they're playing. Chris with the hungry, next generation superstar. HBK playing the smart vet role. Great story telling already *creaming pants*

These are the roles they should play at Mania, and Trips should play the desperate champion.

Rock Bottom 02-16-2004 10:48 PM

Michaels is getting boos now and then. People seem behind Benoit. Interesting, that's a good sign for Benoit.

...Commercial.

...They pick the tag title match, and the main event to do commercials - wtf?

Mr. JL 02-16-2004 10:49 PM

stupid COMMERCIALS!!!!!!

hell yeah :y:

Rock Bottom 02-16-2004 10:51 PM

More like commercial of the year. Matches of the year don't have commercials.

They just totally ruined a perfect match. It'll still be good, but jesus people.

Rock Bottom 02-16-2004 10:51 PM

Fuc</>k Taco Bell and their chalupas.

Rock Bottom 02-16-2004 10:52 PM

Benoit is over HBK right now. That rules.

HeartBreakMan2k 02-16-2004 10:52 PM

God I love the new submission/ground based wrestling style WWE is going for. It's even making the womans matches great (they were good before, great now)

Innovator 02-16-2004 10:53 PM

i love how the minute my college cancels spike tv RAW gets good.......*very very very bitter*

Rock Bottom 02-16-2004 10:53 PM

Notice the chorus of boos every time Michaels kicks out.

HeartBreakMan2k 02-16-2004 10:54 PM

Shut the fu</>ck up about Stone Cold and "stone cold law" already. No one gives a shit about Austin's character.

BasicThuganomics 02-16-2004 10:55 PM

WOW I have had people bugging me all night so i have been in and out of my room, but this has still been one of the most enjoyable RAW's I have have seen in awhile. Thats saying alot since i have been enjoying WWE alot lately. Ohyeah, and Benoit is the ****ing man tonite. This match has been very intense and very good. Very few holds have been used and they haven't slowed the pace very much at all. I'm glad that Benoit is looking so strong tonite...

Rock Bottom 02-16-2004 10:56 PM

The toothless aggression is literally squeezed out of Benoit!

jessica rocks 02-16-2004 10:58 PM

the one thing that is making this from bing the best Raw ever the fact that tonight the main event for WMXX is gonna be announced *crosses fingers* please no triple threat please no triple threat

HeartBreakMan2k 02-16-2004 11:00 PM

The fans are split, I love that.

Loose Cannon 02-16-2004 11:00 PM

DAMN, this match rules almost anything I've ever seen on live TV

Rock Bottom 02-16-2004 11:03 PM

Benoit had better go over Michaels. Or I am going to urinate all over my TV.

This match owns..

There goes HHH just like I said, watch, he screws Benoit.

jessica rocks 02-16-2004 11:05 PM

*tosses stone cold a beer

HeartBreakMan2k 02-16-2004 11:05 PM

Great match, piss poor ending. Not just because Michaels won (Benoit needed to win, and that's coming from an HBK mark) but because the way it ended. HHH should not have been involved. Completely ruined the flow of the match. And Austin coming out now doesn't help either.

Kristanna Vola 02-16-2004 11:06 PM

only thing that would save this if Austin ran him over....shit

BasicThuganomics 02-16-2004 11:06 PM

Shit, that was going for a MOTY and it got all ****ed up....... and now i don't wanna see SCSA announce the triple threat...

HeartBreakMan2k 02-16-2004 11:08 PM

The match was great, and frankly a draw I would have loved. HBK over Benoit could have worked, but involving Triple H killed the flow.

BasicThuganomics 02-16-2004 11:08 PM

jk by the way :shifty:

Yeah but If it's not a traditional one on one, then a ladder match will make it a more worthy main event for WMXX...

Blue Demon 02-16-2004 11:10 PM

goddammit...way to ruin what the Rumble stands for...Triple threats should NOT be a main event for Wrestlemania.

The match is going to be great at Mania. HBK makes HHH do well. They have great matches, we saw the match Benoit and Michaels can have, so the three of them should be a great match, so long as Benoit goes over clean.

BasicThuganomics 02-16-2004 11:10 PM

damnit and now spike is blurring out the nipples on the girls tonite sucks right now...

What Would Kevin Do? 02-16-2004 11:12 PM

The match would be much better if it was old school ECW Three Way Dance

HeartBreakMan2k 02-16-2004 11:12 PM

The only way Michaels should have gone over Benoit was through HIM cheating. No distractions or anything, but Michaels being so desperate, that he, the LEGEND, had to cheat. Benoit going over clean should have been the first option though.

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-16-2004 11:12 PM

Benoit needs the momentum, but if he gets put over in the end against Michaels in Edmonton it's all good...but still, just stupid.

Yeah but triple threats can be predictable, everyone hits finishers, and blocks the other persons 3 count a billion times...
A ladder match would make this match more memorable I think...

Only if Benoit pinned HHH first. That way Benoit gets the clean win over Hunter, then wins the belt over Michaels. I would say get rid of Shawn first, but frankly I don't think HHH could have half the match with Benoit that Michaels could.

I agree, but in the same token, I'm not so sure HHH could handle a ladder match now. Michaels I know could, Benoit I know could... Hunter just raises doubts to me.

loopydate 02-16-2004 11:16 PM

Is WWE trying to make Triple H look stupid? I thought he was supposed to be invincible and several steps ahead of the game...so why the f</>uck was he surprised that the WMXX main event is *gasp* a Triple Threat? There are TWO number one contenders for your belt, and you refused to do TWO matches in one night. What did you think was gonna happen, Pinocchio?

Really? why do u think that? HHH has been doing good lately since he doesn't seem to have injuries slowing him down? He's still a backstage asshole, but he's at least been performing pretty well I think.

I guess the game must be on pause

The CyNick 02-16-2004 11:21 PM

A triple threat is a tougher match to lay out then a singles. So saying that HBK vs HHH was and HBK vs Benoit was good, means HHH vs HBK vs Benoit will be great is false. Dont get me wrong, it could be great, but I dont think it will be good as either combination in a singles.

I hope they end up making it Elimination, but I know better. Seems odd they didn't announce the Ladder stip, maybe they went against that idea, so at least Benoit gets to pin one of them. Still, I think this hurts the match overall, but we'll see.

Rest of the show was solid enough.

I really liked the Foley beatdown, that was some good stuff, without resorting to gimmicks, Foley took some stiff looking shots to the face.

Vince vs Eric is gay. I mean that match has no meaning now, maybe if they would have done that when Bisch showed up on RAW instead of hugging Vince, but I guess thats why I'm not a booker.........

BT and RVD get the tag straps as I predicted, but I wonder if this puts them on the card at Mania or not, I know I have my doubts. Speaking of tag teams, where are the Dudleys these days? I mean I know on Heat, but whats the deal there? And did they fire all the other tag teams on RAW?

Christian is a hillarious mofo.

That Matt Hardy segment was great, they are totally using him right, and NOT wasting him whatsoever.

Vince makes a big announcement next week, I had heard that Vince was getting in the Kane-Taker angle, but I'm thinking he'll just announce Lesnar vs Goldber and/or Kane vs Taker. I guess it will require his approval since they are RAW vs SD matches. Unless they have some larger plan with Eric vs Vince for Mania, God I hope not.

Anyway, good show, great main event, of course then there was the Kliq approved burrial of Benoit, but hey thats how you build up a guy who is scheduled to get the World Title and then fail so he can JOB the title back to HHH.

I don't know. I mean, he just doesn't have that stride that he used to in my opinion. I mean, maybe he'll suprise me, and I agree he's been doing great, but his opponent has been Shawn, and Shawn could drag my grandmother to a 4 star match (same could be said for Jericho, Benoit, and Angle). Just ladder matches depend more on individual responsibility to me. You can't really be carried in a match like that without it being overly obvious.

I can agree with that. I just think that without the ladder, HBK and Benoit could guide the match from an athletic stand point, and HHH is smart enough during the match (not at ends, as he loves to bury people at the very end) that he could place his spots well. I just think the ladder would complicate things.

But yeah, you're definently right, a singles match would be much better. :y:

Why can't WWE just stick to what has worked. All I ask for is one match in the entire year putting the two top guys one on one against each other. Why must we make Triple Threats? Did we not learn our lesson from WrestleMania 2000? Oh well...let's just look forward to to REAL Main Event, Kurt Angle vs. Eddie Guerrero. Hey that reminds my brain, what will be the Main Event (Last Match). I say it should be like every other WrestleMania (Besides XI) and be revolved around the WWE Title.

Benoit won the Rumble so his match is gonna be main event. And this match can't be compared to 2000, the workers in this match are WAY better than 2000.

And what happened at WMXI I can't remember?

HeartBreakMan2k 02-16-2004 11:30 PM

Eddie and Kurt should be the main event, but since Benoit won the rumble, HHH and HBK are in the World title match, that'll headline. I get the bad feeling that Kurt Eddie with be at like mid way, followed by Taker/Kane, Brock/Goldberg then the triple threat. I hope I'm wrong though.

6to1 02-16-2004 11:31 PM

vince vs bischoff, which one will be the heel? i smell another linda returns and is with bischoff. i would root for eric he's a cooler heel.

BasicThuganomics 02-16-2004 11:31 PM

Although, I will agree a one on one match is a better choice, but this isn't a complete disaster...
