Haha, told you Cena was gonna win :D

FourFifty 08-27-2007 12:19 AM

Maybe someone can turn this into its own thread, but I'd like to talk about 5 good things and 5 bad things about the PPV....

The Bad.

5. Rey's getup
After Chavo came out a few weeks ago as Rey I had to take a second look to see if it really was Rey. The dude should have just used his normal get up.

4. Damn!
After months of laughing I am now sick of the word "Damn!"

3. No titles moved.
This always upsets me. The titles should be a huge draw, and if titles aren't moving at PPVs then why should I bother? I'm not saying every ppv needs a major title change but it would be nice if the four big ppvs were treated as bigger events and not just house shows compared to WrestleMania.

2. Unforgiven next month
Three weeks until the next ppv? Now this isn't a problem with SummerSlam, but seriously, do we NEED another PPV this soon? The only draw they have is The Undertaker VS Mark Henry.

1. Cena is still champ.
I hate to say all the armchair internet bookers are right, but that man needs to drop the title, soon. If they want to set up a new face champion they need a heel champion for a while.

The Good

5. Rey's return
Okay, his getup ruined his pop, but unless it's Mark Henry it's always nice to see someone come back from an injury.

4. Vince is still God
Albeit I am NOT going to be able to look at chicken soup the same way again I laughed.

3. Free pizza with pineapple
This has nothing to do with WWE, but my friend's grandma bought pizza. She likes pineapple on her pizza, and so do I. She is the third person I know who likes pineapple on pizza.

2. Triple H's return
The match might not go down in history as a five star blockbuster. We're not seeing the next Ricky Steamboat/Ric Flair here, but it was nice to see Triple H return.

1. JBL
Need I say more?

Xero 08-27-2007 12:25 AM

Just reading this page sounds like it was shit on TV.

Live, though, it was pretty awesome. Cena/Orton was pretty damn great live, I must say. And I honestly thought Orton had it with the RKO... Silly me...

Anyway, quick rundown of the crowd responses live...

Crowd was pretty good for the dark match (Cade/Murdoch vs Kendrik/London - Murdoch/Cade over) then pretty much completely died until Rey/Chavo (except for Kennedy's entrance and a few spots). Then it died again until Austin came out. The Women's battle royal was obviously the piss break and the arena cleared pretty well.

Great response for The Game, as expected, but about two minutes before the match actually started it started to seem desperate and the crowd died for a few minutes. I was honestly surprised that this wasn't the semi-main event.

Of course, the crowd pretty much shit all over Khali/Batista except for a few spots including the Spinebuster and Spear ( ). Definitely the worst match of the night.

How did the crowd come off for Cena/Orton? I wanted to say it was 50/50, but I think it may have been more 60/40 in Cena's favor.

By the way, what was up with that spot where Kennedy used the bell on Umaga (I think)? I assumed it would have been a DQ but that wasn't the case.

Lara Emily 08-27-2007 12:26 AM

People need to sell the Samoan Spike the way Kennedy did tonight, that Triple Threat match was the best match of the night and that says it all about Summerslam lol. You know I might not be so pissed that Cena retained again if it wasn't pretty much the same match we've seen from Cena at every PPV.

Innovator 08-27-2007 12:29 AM

Just got back...

I'll always have a good time live at a show...but what the fuck were they thinking?

The Triple threat match as No DQ

HHH entrance was weird after all the King of Kings crap he comes out to The Game and leaves to The Game weird.

Missed that it was No DQ. Did they make that on RAW or what?

Also, yeah, and especially since they actually used the opening riff to King of Kings (sans "Behold the King - The King of Kings") then went straight into The Game... I marked out when I heard the riff, then was like ":wtf: "...

JR just randomly mentioned it during the match lol, guess they decided just before the match to make it no DQ

Anybody Thrilla 08-27-2007 01:40 AM

I thought triple threats were always no DQ. If somebody does something that would normally get them DQed, who would win the match? That would dick over the guy who had nothing to do with it (Carlito in this case).

I like pizza with pineapple too.

Xerzes 08-27-2007 02:26 AM

So...four title matches, in which, really, every title involved should have changed hands. And what happens? Not one changes. Super.

Nervous Ferret 08-27-2007 02:43 AM

lol Summerslam was tonight? Really? Come on really now?

Tommy Gunn 08-27-2007 04:45 AM

I can't believe I paid for this shit, this PPV had all the potential to be a classic but became the biggest disappointment of the summer.

I will never again pay for a PPV headlined by John fucking Cena. I'm just going to continue downloading WWE torrents so I can fast forward every second he appears in WWE programming.

Fuck you WWE.

Same here man. Same here.

Of course I will always buy the Rumble. But that's probably it.

KingofOldSchool 08-27-2007 08:25 AM

I'm boycotting ECW.

What a fucking joke.

Yeah. I can't take Punk seriously anymore. When he wins the belt it'll be a giant *yawn* from everyone because he choked every other chance. It's like they are trying to make him Tommy Dreamer or something

The way I see it...Unforgiven is gonna be a carbon copy of Summerslam. Khali/Batista has been confirmed to continue, Punk/Morrison will probably get another go because Morrison cheated, and Orton will somehow get another shot at Cena

WWE are truly out of ideas

owenbrown 08-27-2007 09:11 AM

Well looks like I am boycotting WWE again after tonight's RAW :nono:

:foc: WWE and especially Vince McMahon and John Cena :foc:

Loose Cannon 08-27-2007 09:15 AM

pretty shit. thought about ordering it, but then realized I would be wasting $40.

watched Clash of the Champions II instead

And that's what is so shitty about it all, you have a guy (Punk) that the fans WANT to treat like a star. Then the company decideds to go out of their way and make Punk look like a joke, especially to a guy that the fans don't give a damn about (Morrison).

If only Mick Foley and Harley Race had pull within the company...

RP 08-27-2007 09:46 AM

Cena heel turn will be really good when they finally decide to do it. I mean everyone hates him so as soon as he does like The Rock and turns on the fans, he'll become alot more fresh. Maybe a double turn with Cena and Kennedy. But most likely it will HHH

Also, the thing about HHH is everytime he doesnt have the belt, and someone else does and sucks, i want HHH to get the belt back. Like, Cena sucks so bad that i actually talk myself into believing HHH is the shit again. But once HHH gets the belt, i'll be like " Oh FFS can someone else get a title reign!!".

Punk got so buried last night I'm surprised he didn't wake up in Louisville, Kentucky.

Xero 08-27-2007 10:38 AM

Mike Johnson should sue you for using his material.

:shifty:

Team Sheep 08-27-2007 10:39 AM

Summerslam has been shit the past few years.

Innovator 08-27-2007 10:39 AM

Hey, its true

Innovator 08-27-2007 10:40 AM

And it sounds better than just saying Punks done.

The harshest kind of burial...

A TNA burial.

Innovator 08-27-2007 10:59 AM

My friend who I was with talked about how giants are always entertaining. 2 minutes into the Khali match he looks at me and goes, "I take it back."

Russenmafia 08-27-2007 11:22 AM

Thought the PPV was crap. The only thing I really enjoyed the cryme time vignette. Regal dancing about in a baseball cap was ace.

Punk & Morrison put on another terrible match. These two have no chemistry and as good as they are, just cannot put a decent match on.

Cena vs Orton, not surprised that Cena won but I am well pissed off with all of those Orton rest holds. Can Randy only wrestle for 2 mins without taking a breather?

Need I say more?

Ok, so now we’ve got the good and the bad out of the way, let’s cut straight to the downright UGLY.

5. The “Divas” Battle Royal
What, they couldn’t find the time to make this a 10-minute filler match on RAW tonight?

4. Fabulous Moolah and esp. Mae Young
Vince”s reaction didn’t help one bit. Yes, he is 62, and she’s 84, but still...he says he ENJOYED it?

3. Khali v. Batista
Any match that has Khali as World Champion is going to be crap, no doubt about it, but when you’ve got a man like him on the roster, who could have easily won with any of his 3 finishers, but instead retains his belt with a cheap DQ off the chair shot?:nono:

2. Morrison v. Punk
Even MORE unwatchable than the World Heavyweight Title match.

1. Cena v. Orton ending
Boooooooooooring. And predictable. The only thing that kept me remotely interested in this match was all the outpouring of the fans support (well from all the 20+ y.o. guys, anyway) for Orton. Other than that, no matter HOW back and forth it was, it was still shit.

mrslackalack 08-27-2007 12:33 PM

During the few months in 06 HHH used the King of Kings theme until him and HBK reformed DX. He would use KOK as his music when he did a promo and used The Game theme song as his entrance when he wrestled.

mrslackalack 08-27-2007 12:34 PM

Not a great show at all. But it wasnt the worst Summerslam of all time.

I don't know, that might get my vote for worst Summerslam of all time. One of the worst PPV of all time. Everything about it sucked, with exception to the crowd participation in the main event. That was the highlight of the show, the fucking crowd reaction was the highlight.

Rey Mysterio was fat and covered in ring rust (maybe literally, apparently ring rust is silverish). Triple H's return and what should have been a fairly epic encounter with him and Booker was rather bland. CM Punk was effectively buried. I think last night has probably killed his credibility for the rest of his career (in WWE) now. Kennedy's push involves this much jobbing? I could not give a flying fuck about the Kane vs. Finlay match. Why the hell was that even on the card? I don't ever want to see Batista again. Ever. Again. Period. And at this point I hope Cena never loses the title until he retires. He might as well hold the fucking title forever and retire the belt with him. It's not like there is anything to redeem his overness or legitimacy any more.

You think Vince is tired of being in business, and instead of just retiring and passing it on or selling the company he wants to just run it into the ground? Remember during the Invasion when he said something to the effect of if anybody was going to destroy the WWE it was going to be himself? Well he's fucking do it.

RGWhat316 08-27-2007 04:28 PM

I thought it wasn't a terrible show, just shocked of how it seemed every single title would change, then none did. Morrison sucks, Khali sucks, and Cena sucks. All of their titles should have changed, and swerve, they don't. That's my biggest complaint. I thought for sure that Punk and Orton would be champion today.

HHH's return seemed kind of underwhelming. How can you promote a King of King's match without the music? Booker must still be the king if Hunter is still gonna be the game.
