link to the VERY FIRST TEASER TRAILER! |
sry thats the only movie there for know
|
Who's doing the commentry?
Doesn't sound like JR towards the end :-\ |
it's just a voice added for now, its no proof of commentary being in
|
Pretty nice attention to detail. The crowd looks very nice along with the whole arena (as much as I could see). The ref still walks like he's in fast forward but oh well.
|
Create a PPV should be on there
|

|
Yeah also creat a belt or create a match would be cool 2.
|
I want women to be able to bleed. Preferably Torrie, Sable, Lita, Stacey and Stephanie McMahon
 |
I want women out of the game, they have no purpose. Swap them for cruisers.
|
If the game had a seperate disc for Season, Customization, and the Matches, I doubt it could be pasted unless someone took the same direction.
They better take use of the HDD this time, downloadable roster updates would be very nice. |
Quote:
|
^^ Yeah, thats true, I hope women can compete in season mode too. And also, I hate who that if you pick Flair/HBK as a ref, they're strength falls down to like Zero. They get knocked out so easliy, I think that's stupid. I also think that they should let ANY wrestler be a ref, not just like 5 people/CAW's
|
What if they made Lemmy as a playable character? You know, like how they made Fred Durst in SD3
|
Wait, you mean you couldn't have HHH as a ref? It had to be Bischoff and certain others? Crap... that's right. They do need to fix that. I never noticed because I always had CAWs playing ref. Sometimes I wanted to recreate the hilarity of "REF 3:16"...thinking this is pretty much gonna be the last Stone Cold appearance in a WWE game...unless he's resigned to being one of the Legends.

here's the official interview with THQ thanks to ps2.ign.com
It's a crowded year for wrestling titles on the PlayStation 2 and it's going to take a whole lot of bells and whistles to prove which product is best. Historically, the winner of that honor has been Yuke's and THQ's SmackDown franchise, but with such financially secure heavyweights as Konami and Electronic Arts throwing their hats into a market already populated by Acclaim, Eidos, and Bandai, the pair definitely has their work cut out for them. After all, the effort with last year's Here Comes the Pain was easily the best in the franchise so far; leaving plenty of expectations and standards that THQ will have to meet and surpass. To find out how THQ is handling this challenge, we sat down with THQ's Smackdown! vs. RAW Product Manager Devin Knudsen. Devin has been around the SmackDown franchise forever too, and is a self-professed "ultra-fan" of professional wrestling. If there's anybody out there who can give us the answers we want, it's this guy. Here's how the conversation went down: IGN: Thanks for the taking the time to answer our questions. We suppose our first question right out of the gate would be, What was it about last year's SmackDown title that you thought could be improved upon most this year? Devin Knudsen: There are two main areas that we are striving to improve this year with SmackDown! vs. Raw. An overall improvement of presentation to the player was the first area we choose to tackle. A fan should feel as they are watching actual WWE programming and all aspects of the game should focus on accomplishing this goal. The graphics of the game, the audio elements and the all of the Superstars mannerisms and personalities should provide the player with a suspension of disbelief. The second element is user interaction. A fan should feel as though they have control over all aspects of the game. There shouldn't be moments where the player feels helpless and is just watching an animation play out; we want the player to feel like he's part of the action unfolding on the screen. http://ps2media.ign.com/ps2/image/ar...5064603764.jpg Cena poses all tough-like IGN: With that said, what kind of changes have you made with Smackdown! vs. RAW that addresses those issues? Devin: We've added several new features that will greatly enhance the user's experience and interaction with the game, as well as improving on last year's features. One obvious improvement that players will notice when they get a look at the game is the graphical upgrade. Yuke's did a fantastic job with this year's Superstar models. They've increased the poly counts significantly, especially in the Create-A-Superstar area. IGN: How much of an impact has fan and editorial feedback had when sitting down to prepare for a new installment of the Smackdown franchise? Devin: As the Rock would say…"This is the people's champ" The SmackDown! Series is not the only wrestling series out there, but it is the most popular. The only way to keep the fans excited is by keeping a close ear to the ground and delivering on what the fans want to see. Being a fan of the WWE, I'm very passionate when it comes to my product line. Our dev team is constantly scanning the message boards, looking at competitive product and putting together focus groups to get a pulse on what the "real" WWE fans are looking for in our videogames. When putting together a feature set for a new title, the team lays out franchise objectives, which are heavily influenced by the feedback we gather from all of the fans. IGN: So what are some examples of how you took that feedback and incorporated it into this year's game? Devin: I can't really get into the new features at this time, but there have been changes to almost every aspect of the game. For example, we made several tweaks here and there to improve things like submissions, grapples, weapons and audio. IGN: Cool. So how about the new features this year, what are some of the new goodies that fans can expect? Devin: We can't spill the beans yet, but just like last year we will deliver a game that significantly improves upon the last iteration. There is a big surprise down the pipe that is sure not to disappoint. IGN: THQ is more secretive than ever this year? Why all the cloak and dagger stuff? Devin: It's all part of the master plan! Seriously, we've got some real big things planned with this year's offering and we're looking forward to letting all you guys in on all the fun leading up to launch. You guys are our biggest supporters and we're glad to reward your readers by making IGN the WWE HQ. IGN: Okay then throw us something new. Tell us at least two things we don't already know about Smackdown! vs. RAW? Devin: We will see the return of a feature from wrestling's past and the introduction of a feature that no one thought they would see in a WWE title. IGN: How about the roster, what changes are there this year? Who's out of the lineup altogether and who are a couple of the new guys? More importantly, do we have La Resistance in there or what? Devin: WWE SmackDown! Vs. Raw will have the top Superstars from RAW and SmackDown as well as divas and some really exciting Legends to unlock. There are some good surprises here. Unfortunately, that is all I can say about the roster, but IGN will be the first to know, as we will roll out the roster with IGN through their ongoing Superstar profile. IGN: Some of our readers were a bit disappointed in last year's career mode. It had a lot of great ideas but some complained that it was too repetitive and too short. Will career be improved on this year, and will it be similar to say, Day of Reckoning? Devin: The season mode has seen a great progression over the years and this year is no exception. We know that the season mode is an integral part of the game and we have gone to great lengths this year to make sure we deliver a season mode that will satisfy the fans. We work closely with the WWE and their writers to find out what directions they are taking with their Superstars and their storylines. This definitely serves as the underline foundation for what we do. The emphasis has been put on creating storylines that are completely original. This unique blend of storylines will satisfy WWE fans while delivering a compelling and rewarding experience. Don't worry; fans will be blown away with what we've got in store for this year's career mode. IGN: How about create-a-wrestler, do you have plans to expand on that feature? Devin: As I mentioned earlier, there will be a dramatic visual upgrade over last year's offering. The quality of the textures and models are significantly improved. We also took steps to simplify the user interface. I can't get into any of the new items in the Create mode at this time. IGN: And now the big question: there are a lot of rumors pointing to this being online, will it be? Devin: Unfortunately, we can't comment on this. IGN: Ah ha, very interesting. Well anyway man, thanks a lot, we'll be bugging you again real soon. Devin: Unfortunately, we can't comment on this. IGN would like to thank Devin Knudsen, Kyle Walker, THQ, and all those involved with making this interview possible (and a special thanks to our readers for their quick question submissions). We'd also like to let the fans know that they should keep an eye out for PSM Magazine's September issue (on sale in early August) for more on Smackdown! vs. RAW. In it, former IGNPS2 and IGN Xbox editor Kaiser Hwang reveals a great number of details complete with new media for the print crowd. Of course, we'll be back with some more info ourselves in the coming weeks. Stay tuned. |
Glad they kept the legends in.

Multi player season
sunday night heat matches before ppvs real life commentary real life interviews with superstars real life grunts and sounds when getting hit possibly better royal rumble matches and alot more stuff that it should upgrade on |
Multi player season would be nice. Don't make many CAWS, don't have the patience. But I'm in the minority on that
|
Multiplayer season is always more fun than going solo. You can do two player tag runs and such. :y:
|
Quote:
2: Makes sense. 3: Define 'real life commentary' in a video game sense... 4: HCTP had interview cut scenes, I doubt we'll get it better than that. 5: You rarely hear them when you what it on TV so I doubt they'll deliver. 6: If they find a way to improve it, fine. But Royal Rumble on SmackDown! games were unchanged since Just Bring It. SmackDown!, like Madden, usually upgrades on given features; we KNOW it'll have an updated roster, better visuals and presentation, animation. I'm looking for wow-me factors that we won't see coming. Or that one feature that makes us feel like it should've been there from the begining. |
we're probaly listing shit that will never happpen (some of the things) but i hope they get the multiplayer season mode becasue me and my friends are jusy kick asss on exibition
|
Only downside about HCTP was imo, that the wrestlers didn't wear the belts as they do on tv. Also with SYM everybody did his signature move in the ring with his belt ( if you won the belt ) The Rock over his arm...meh you guys get the picture.
Dunno, things like that makes the game feel a bit more real. |
the blood should be like Showdown Legends of Wrestling. It real life like, blood keeps running down the face and it stains the mat
|
This is an idea for Season mode: Make 3 different ones.
1st: Rookie- CAW signs contract, all about gaining experience, wrestles mainly on Heat/Velocity with the occasional RAW/SD thrown in. 2nd: Normal season mode- Wrestles on RAW/SD. Gets on PPV's 3rd: Legend: Been around a long time, has more leeway in the locker room/GM's office, etc. I love the idea for online play. I can see it being set in a locker room/backstage at an event as the setting for a room. And it should only be for CAW's, like most MMORPG's. It should also have new ways of gaining experience points for example... Strength: Work out in the training area Submission: Wrestle a technical wrestler/use submissions Charisma: cut a promo etc. |
I've read that they've got a BIG announcement coming soon, mostly rumored to be online play.
Although I've ragged heavily on the Smackdown series before, I got so much play out of HCTP more than anything since No mercy. Looking forward more to Day of Reckoning right now though :) |
I hope they change the elimination during the Royal Rumble, have it like the submission bar, with submit replaced with "eliminate" and have a few different ways..
example. You throw them over, but the wrestler hangs onto the rope, your character grabs him, then the bar appears, if you get it to eliminate he is gone, if not, he gets back into the ring, the more damage done, the closer the bar is to eliminate  |

1/ The Below List Of Superstars has been confirmed 100%. Chris Benoit Chris Jericho Randy Orton Shawn Michaels The Rock Triple H Eddie Guerrero John Bradshaw Layfield John Cena Kurt Angle Undertaker 2/ Every Mode From Smackdown Here Comes The Pain Has been left intact and more modes added and improvements have been made. 3/ Goldberg, Brock Lesnar, Stone Cold Steve Austin will not be making any appearance in the game this year but there moves sets will be included in the create a superstar mode.</font> |
Here's a little problem I'd like to see fixed: During the Royal Rumble I'd like to be able to grab Rey Mysterio Jr after I hit him rather than grappling at thin air for ten seconds while the little shit gets up and tosses me out of the freakin ring.

THe one before "Here comes the Pain" had better create a wrestlers than HCTP did. I made so many characters....Among them: all sorts of Dragonball Z characters (Krillin, Piccolo, Vegita, etc.) Spiderman (Who looked dead on btw), and others that I can't even remember anymore. HTCP forced me to use real wrestlers, which is ok, but I love to make my own and nothing on it interested me.

Though THQ is going to reveal the majority of its feature set for WWE Smackdown! vs. RAW in the upcoming issue of PSM Magazine (yes, that's a plug for my boy Kaiser and crew), representatives for the Toy Headquarters revealed plenty of new information exclusively to IGN this afternoon. Namely, bits on the planned roster, an all-new match type, some graphical facts, and it even addressed the rumor of online play.
Online play, in fact, was the first order of business. As several IGN readers have reported to us that they have received Beta Test requests from Sony to participate in a Smackdown! vs. RAW Internet trial. And while there have been plenty of arguments among fans today as to whether or not this request is real, we can confirm that the emails are definitely legitimate. "Sony has begun the online beta program for Smackdown! vs. RAW," said THQ's Head of Media Relations, Liz Pieri, in a comment to IGN earlier today. "But THQ has yet to announce online play as a confirmed feature in the game." Now in the off chance that you don't speak videogame lingo or aren't familiar with the beta-testing process, an online beta test for Smackdown! vs. RAW doesn't necessarily confirm the feature 100%. Instead, it means that the company is looking into the possibility of adding it to the final game and is evaluating it to see if it works. If the online feature doesn't work exactly how the developers want it to, then it won't make it into the final game, could be scaled in terms of size, or be re-worked into something else entirely. Those possibilities are why THQ hasn't officially announced online play up to this point and still won't -- as even though the feature is now more likely going to happen than not, THQ is still not sure if it will make it all the way to the end of the development process (see Uru: Beyond of Myst for the PC as a good example of this). http://ps2media.ign.com/ps2/image/ar...6042750664.jpg http://media.ps2.ign.com/media/670/670847/imgs_1.html click here for more pics But now it's time to move into the realm of what definitely will be in Smackdown! vs. RAW: The Parking Lot Brawl. Announced as the only new match type this year, the PLB is pretty much just what it sounds like; a specialty match that takes place in the parking lot behind the arena. While in this match, players will be able to interact with and destroy just about everything in the environment -- be it cars, trucks, limos, or whatever else happens to be hanging around. The level of destructibility of these objects is still being determined, but Product Manager Devin Knudsen did confirm that doors, hoods, and other similar pieces can all be smashed around like crazy -- which is a pretty promising start. Knudsen also confirmed at least nine superstars who will make the final roster whose number is still not finalized. The nine confirmed grapplers are: John Cena, Randy Orton, Booker T, Ric Flair, Batista, Triple H, Chris Jericho, Rico, and Charlie Haas. Additionally, we learned that Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler, and Eric Bischoff will also be in the game in a greater capacity than they were before. Whether or not that means that they'll be playable as active members of the roster or have a more prominent mode in career mode remains to be seen. Finally, THQ touched on some of the more presentational aspects of Smackdown! vs. RAW and revealed that for the first time in the series' history, the game will receive all-new music for the menu screens and in-game wrestling matches (thank the heavens!). What makes this musical enhancement even more interesting, though, is the fact that it will boast licensed tracks from established industry stars. Who these bands or individual singers will be, however, have not yet be revealed. Another new presentational tidbit that's sure to please fans is the fact thay all the transition screens from Smackdown! and RAW television programming (ie: the graphics used to illustrate championship matches, the 'tale of tape' versus screens, and similar pre and post-match visuals) has been included as well, and the championship belts can finally be used as a weapon during matches. Even better, is that in an effort to add even more realism, Yuke's has implanted a new blur filter effect for submission moves to illustrate the pain or grogginess associated with the pain (it's also possible that this effect will be used for powerful blows to the head as well, but THQ still hasn't finalized that yet). Unfortunately, that's all we have for now. But it's definitely the most about Smackdown! vs. RAW that's been revealed so far. Before we go, though, be sure and click on our image above to view a handful of brand new screenshots taken from the most recent build. They're pretty sweet too, and illustrate the fact that Yuke's has increased each character's polygon count by 25%. Expect us to return with more on SvR in the coming weeks and look for a definite answer as to whether or not the online mode will stay by watching this space. credit - ps2.ign.com |
That is a fair amount of info, thank you for the update.
I always say this about games I will get once they come out, but, This game is going to rule. |
Booker T's face looks so real its scary.
|
they all look so real
|
It sucks that they won't put in more new matches...I was hoping on: Burried Alive Match, Ambulance match and a few others, but still the game looks great.
|
That Evolution pick looks like it could be from WWE.com.
...although, Hunter's nose isn't quite big enough. |

Looks like they finally got the mapping of face pictures down. Looks amazing. It would be nice if they took a page out of the THUG playbook and let you map your face to your CAW. That would make every CAW be so much easier.

notice the picture of Lawler and JR...czech out what's happening in the ring :(
|
I just noticed who was in the ring with Triple H... seems this game is all too real. :-\

<font color=goldenrod>PSM Magazine - Issue 88 - September 2004, I'm just gonna paraphrase:
New things confirmed: -Create a Belt is in -Create a PPV is in (w/ title holders not even being linked to season mode so it won't ruin storylines) -You get to choose between being a face or a heel before each match so you can perform specific moves during a match (faces can "hulk-up" and heels can cheat) -Heels can argue with the ref and hold onto illegal moves for as long as they want -Royal Rumble will be improved -Charisma attribute decides how much more adrenaline you get when taunting. -Submissions can be broken up. -Interactive match beginnings (stare-downs etc.) -Weight detection is improved and it affects all moves now, even finishers -All characters will have real life voiceovers -More interactive managers -Belts can be used as weapons during title matches -Challenges get you money (things like defeat 4 legends with 1 character or use 2 specials in a match, etc.) Also, the following characters have been announced: Big Show, Bubba Ray Dudley, D-Von Dudley, Chavo Guerrero, Eddie Guerrero, Kurt Angle, Scotty 2 Hotty, Rikishi (likely to be removed), Rey Mysterio, Mark Jindrak, RVD, Chris Benoit, Garrison Cade, Shawn Michaels, Chuck Palumbo, A-Train, Shelton Benjamin, Christian, Kane (old gear AND new gear), Tajiri, Rhyno, Matt Hardy, Trish Stratus, and Stacy Keibler They will join the current roster of Chris Jericho, Booker T, Triple H, Batista, Randy Orton, Ric Flair, John Cena, Charlie Haas, and Rico ------------------------ This game will rule.</font> |
The first two had my. Holy crap this game is going to be good.

I might buy a PS2 when this comes out.

Oh dude! This game is so going to rule...also: Devil May Cry 3, GTA: San Andreas, Gran Turismo 4

<font color=goldenrod>I'm kind of surprised looking over the list of confirmed people.
They have jobbers like Cade, Palumbo, A-Train, Scotty, and Jindrak announced, yet bigger names like Edge, Eugene, JBL, Taker, Dupree etc. have yet to even be announced</font> |
I wish they would add Buried Alive matches to the wrestling games.

Seriously, I've been wanting a that feature in a good game since playing WCW vs. The World.. |
Create-A-Title is great, don't get me wrong, but you have to have fun matches to defend the title in. Now, if that title was hanging in a cage that could barely fit two, supported by a cage full of weapons and a cage in which a ladder is needed just to get to the title...I would not let my PS2 turn off.
|
And if I could be doing that online...

That would be awesome doing that online. I would be online all the time then.

Dammit. Weight detection on finishers?! They better at least do the No Mercy thing and have a backup plan....

Interview With THQ Regarding SmackDown! vs. Raw For PS2; More
Written by Andy Steven on July 19, 2004 at 15:00:08 Steven White of RingSideGames.com recently interviewed THQ regarding WWE SmackDown! vs. Raw for PS2. Below is a full recap of the interview. RingSideGames.com: Hello, firstly I want to thank you for agreeing to give this interview. THQ Spokesperson: No problem RSG: Could you tell everyone a secret that we don't know yet? THQ: Well, we will be including all the WWE Arenas from Vengeance 2003 right through to Bad Blood 2004 RSG: Are there any current Wrestlers that won't be in the Game? THQ: Well anyone who is still competing on WWE TV in August will make the cut, and will be included in the game. RSG: Even if someone new comes in? THQ: Yes RSG: That?s cool. Will each superstar have unique storylines in Season mode? THQ: The storylines will be as unique as possible, however repetition is going to be unavoidable I?m afraid. RSG: Fair enough. Will any legends be on the game and will Paul Bearer and Jeff Hardy be on the game? THQ: There will be legends in the game this year. Paul Bearer isn?t in at the present time and Jeff Hardy will definitely not be in the game. RSG: Yeh, he?s with TNA now I believe. Anyway, my next question is Will the Buried Alive, Casket, Ambulance or Inferno matches be on the game? THQ: Well none of them have been included in what I?ve seen of the game, but hey you never know! As far as I know the new match this year is the Parking Lot Brawl. RSG: Is that the only new match? THQ: That?s the only one I know of. RSG: OK, will you be able to use weapons more freely and in more ways? THQ: Oh yes, we are working hard on this area this year. We are including new weapons such as when you?re defending a title, you can use the belt as a weapon! RSG: Well, that is definitely realistic! Will you be able to rip music from the PS2 Hard Drive for entrances? THQ: Nope. RSG: Fair enough, Will there be a GM mode? THQ: No there will not be. There will be the normal season mode however, and the authority figures will play a bigger part in the game. RSG: Will Kane have his finger eleven theme? THQ: Yes, he will RSG: What legends will be in the game? THQ: I cannot really tell you at the present time; however Andre the Giant looks hopeful! RSG: Wow, that?s great news! We can have Andre vs. Big Show! THQ: (Laughs) RSG: Which divas will appear in the game? THQ: All the current WWE ones up until August! RSG: Will bra and panties be in this year?s game? THQ: Of course! RSG: Right that?s sold me the game!! (Laughs) THQ: (Laughs) RSG: Is Hulk Hogan in the game as a legend? THQ: No he is not. RSG: Are the original Entrance better than HCTP. I mean like do we still have those Micheal Jackson wannabes and the Spiderman entrance, or we have something that a normal wrestler would do? THQ: I cannot really comment as Yukes are handling the CAW part of the game. RSG: Alright, Do the WWE Divas Bleed? THQ: No they won?t, only the male wrestlers will bleed. RSG: Will the game feature more in depth story lines? THQ: Yes, we are working closely with WWE writers to make it the best season mode on a WWE game yet! RSG: That?s good news, HCTP got dreadfully repetitive! If the game is online what can we expect from the online mode? THQ: It will be similar to the Fifa series, in which you can have matches against other players etc. RSG: Looks like RingsideGames.com will be having an online tournament then! Will Mordecai be in the game? THQ: Well, he is but we may be taking him out seeing as he is no longer on WWE TV at the moment. RSG: Yeh, he is back in OVW at the moment. THQ: Yup. RSG: Will there be a good number of legends in the game? THQ: We?re hoping to have around 12 in the final game. RSG: Will King and JR be in this game and provide commentary? THQ: They are in the game, but we probably will not have commentary again this year. It simply takes up too much space on the game. RSG: Will Brock Lesnar's, Goldberg's, Austin's Moves, music, entrance and movies be in the game? THQ: Only their moves. RSG: Damn, will you be putting in the undertaker?s new entrance and his music and attire? THQ: Yes we will be. He will be exactly as he is now. RSG: (Laughs) Even with the cowboy hat? THQ: (Laughs) Definitely with the cowboy hat! RSG: How many pixels will this year?s game use for the Wrestlers? THQ: Around 25% more than we used last year! RSG: Amazing, I thought the graphics were great on HCTP! Like in DOR are you guys copyrighting music to play in the background of the game? THQ: Yes we are, we want to have our own music this year! RSG: Like in GTA: San Andreas, will the Season Mode be more realistic...Like they will have to Eat and work out if they don't want to lose energy or power? THQ: No we won?t have that feature in the game. Sorry! RSG: No probs man! Will the Elimination chamber be in the game this year? THQ: Yes, all the matches from last year will. Anyway, can we make that the last question? RSG: Sure thing dude, thanks for your time! THQ: Alright, hope to speak to you again soon, bye! |
Dammit, you guys are fast. I'm providing you a link to the main page with this interview. Scroll all the way down and click on the link to apply to partake in an online beta test for the game.

For Create a Wrestler They should have an outfit that you only wear for entrances and not wrestling in. E.G Edges long trenchcoat. During Entrances.. If your the second one out... Then the other opponent should still be seen at Ringside. They could be waiting outside the ring or be in the other corner. These were just 2 ideas of mine. Oh yeah and remove A-Train from the game. His done Fuck all in the passed year. |

Maybe I missed this somewhere in the 5 pages, but the only thing I would like changed about the game is the ref's countering system. That makes me scream.
Apart from that, this looks like another good game. The only thing that leaves me wondering is, if they have Eugene in this game, what will his finishing moves be? Maybe L1 could do a random move and L1+any direction would result in Eugene stealing the opponent's move? |
I'm in the TPWW online Rumble thing, fuggas.

If we are able to use CAWs online, I would probably lose due to my waterfilled eyes blocking my view.

Man, I gotta get me a Network Adapter for this thing. I swear I'll kick all of your asses.
Create-a-Belt looks pretty good. |
-You get to choose between being a face or a heel before each match so you can perform specific moves during a match (faces can "hulk-up" and heels can cheat)
-Heels can argue with the ref and hold onto illegal moves for as long as they want -Royal Rumble will be improved    GOD DAMMIT, I must get GTA and Smackdown This year  *takes a chill pill* THQ: Yes we will be. He will be exactly as he is now. RSG: (Laughs) Even with the cowboy hat? THQ: (Laughs) Definitely with the cowboy hat! :D! |
Yeah...what he said ^
