Big gun film lights, different candle powers and wattages (12k = 12,000 W/120 Amps) for different looks, diff. color temperatures to match or alter in comparison to the type of film being used (daylight/tungsten).

Basically just big fucking lights that make movies look good.

Parcans are rock show light housings the hold Par 64 bulbs.. "Firestarter" being the lens type (and in the case wattage because firestarters are 1200w while most Par 64 bulbs are only 1k).. Maxi Brutes are a 9 bulb, 3 bank par 64 rig that is powered by 100amp bates (110volt).. These are all considered "tungsten" which is mostly used for stage and night time work.. HMI's are "hydrargyrum medium-arc iodide" which burns a "mercury-halide gas" and are a more white (or blue CTB) light.. HMI's are also "Pars" but have separate lens that can be changed out.. These are considered more daylight than tungsten..

I'm sure you understand all that now..
