I think the one thing you all have to keep in mind, is that there is not one timeline that they are altering...

Each time someone goes into the past and changes something, there is a new history.



The way I look at it is this.

The World Ends. Connor becomes a leader.

Terminator and Reese go back, Reese Fathers a child with Connors mom...making a new John Connor. He is raised to become who he is supposed to be, but it is not the same John Connor that sends back reese.. New timeline. Alternate 1985 if you will.

because of the first Terminator, Skynet speeds up and happens faster, so the new Connor (son of Reese) sends back a terminator to protect himself and end skynet. By destroying those chips at the end of T2, they create a new timeline, where Skynet takes longer to come around.

Thats where T3 comes in...Connor is not the same person as the original Connor, because of Reese, and struggles to become a leader. Skynet finally brings about the end of the world at a later date.

I do not know how the new one will tie in, but the thing to remember is with every movie the future changes. That is why in the trailers the future is not what it was supposed to be, and is different. Because of all the changes.

So, to elaborate.

original Connor leads the resistance.

Reese comes back, fathers a child who they raise to be the John Connor Reese talked about, preparing for the future than Reese knew.

Things continually change throughout the movies because of their pre-knowledge and events.

A digital representation of Arnold Schwarzenegger has reportedly been confirmed to appear in Terminator Salvation.

The governor of California recently said that he would not be filming a cameo role for the sequel, but would still appear if the technology made it possible.

It has emerged that a body-cast of the actor made when he first appeared in The Terminator provided the foundation for digital effects to bring his image to life in a cameo role, Variety reports.

Schwarzenegger has reportedly seen the footage and given director McG his approval for it to be used when Terminator Salvation is released in the US next month.

I had a dream about this movie last night.

basically I was in it, and based on what I have seen in Trailers and my own thoughts on the movie, it was like a 4 hour epic dream that was greater than anything this movie could ever be.

Not sure if it will be better than either Transformers. Not sure if it will even be good. I'll wait until I've seen them to make that ruling.

It will probably get beaten by Night at the Museum 2 this weekend, which is funny and sad at the same time.

Just got back from seeing it and I loved it!

I think the critics went in with expectations too high. We all know that there's not going to be another T1 or T2. I thought T3 was fun to watch but for this I felt it was better then the previous.

Its a summer movie that was really fun to watch and I can't wait to see if they do in fact make another.

Just got back from it and didn't love it. I didn't "hate it."

It wasn't awful. It had it's moments, but they were all nostalgia trips. The movie didn't really offer anything new. The plot was somewhat boring and the characters were borderline awful.
Marcus Wright was cool, but they didn't do anything more with him than was shown in the trailer. There was no depth or examination there.

Action scenes were great. Overall I say, not bad but pretty damn mediocre. If you're a sucker for gunfire and explosions, it will not dissapoint, but I can't really see anything in the plot/characters/ or Terminator mythology that would please the mind.

Just saw it this afternoon and was really let down by it....

Its funny because I went in having very low expectations but then they were raised up in the upcomming weeks only to be shot down when watching it.

I actually didnt care for Bales performance and thought it wasnt that great but really loved Sam Worthingtons performance.

I think the main reason I didnt care for the movie was because it suffers from the fact that we already knew so much about it from the other three films....



But 2 things that I absolutely loved about the film...

I liked it, it was good. It would have been nice if it was a bit longer to span out more things- but it's still good. I hope we get a longer directors cut DVD/Bluray.

on my first viewing it gets 3.5 out of 5.

Once I heared they were digitally putting Arnie's face on a body double's body, ive been very curious to see how it turned out.

Better than anyone could have expected.... Looked like Arnold from T1 had come back.

From far away it looked legit. When they showed it up close it looked kinda like a video game though

He just said that he was expecting huge war scenes between the human and machines and never got that..

Wow, that's stupid. I mean, why would they put huge war scenes of humans and robots fighting in a movie about a war between humans and killer robots? That would make sense and be awesome.

I liked the movie for the most part.

I kind of wish they would have changed the ending a bit though.

And when they revealed MArcus as a machine in the trailer, they gave way too much away...no surprise to this movie.

I think it has too big of epectations to live up to.

They didnt try to make a classic here, they tried to reboot a franchise and set up for sequels.

I compare this, oddly enough, to another Bale Movie....The Dark Knight.

From what I have read (admitedly not alllll that much) it wasn't really a reboot, but a continuation, a clip of action and story we 'kinda' already knew.

Well it is not a full on reboot

But it brings forth the idea that they are in a new Future, which has changed. Everything is different, and I think they are move the franchise in a new direction, and this was a setup.

Saw this last Monday, and really enjoyed it. Christian Bale was great. So was that kid who played Kyle Reese. He had the same tone of voice that Michael Biehn had in the first Terminator. He even made simular facial expressions. The kid must have studied Biehn's acting from the first one.

I thought the best part of the movie....

Okay, I have a major problem with the ending, mainly from a writing/directing standpoint.

It was okay. I thought they put WAY too much emphasis on the action and not enough on the story.

Yeah, I thought this movie was pretty fun and marked out like a bitch when "Ahnold" appeared.

i like it. it obviously wasn't as good as the first two but it was way better than i originally hoped, especially after reading some of the reviews. totally dicked over T3. i heard a few people say it's bales worst performance to date as well which i don't particularly agree with (though i can't really name you a bad performance). he sort of played connor with an semi-emotional detatchment which i think is fitting, especially when you see that detatchment break in a few scenes but in a really subtle way (when he first returns back to his missus and when he first meets kyle). i was a little bit disappointed there wasn't a bigger response when he first sees the arnie terminator.

i think there were a few stupid bits but overall it's a good continuation of the franchise and the marcus character is a really good idea.

don't agree there should be huge battles with terminators either. in fact i thought it was kinda stupid they had big plane to HK dogfights, i'd like it approached more like kyle and star or whatever she's called destroyed the terminator with the minigun, with traps and what not. going into a big lord of the rings battle against near bulletproof machines would be stupid.

Thats a new trailer which pretty much has all the closeups of cgi arnie in it.

Maybe I'm lost in the plot line of the 4 movies, and maybe the past has been changed because of the future or something but are we ever going to see how the time machine sent Arnie back in time for the first 2? And how about the T9000 or whatever the liquid terminator in T2 came about? Are they just ignoring the first few movies and going off on tangents?

Like I say, maybe I am lost and all that was explained.

well, he has to send back kyle first, and when he does that, hes already the savior of man kind so that has to happen first

I quite enjoyed it. Went into it with fairly low expectations after all the bad reviews it's been getting, but I didn't find anywhere as bad as the critics have been making out.

They really shouldn't have revealed who or what Marcus was in the trailers though, kind of killed the eventual reveal.

ok watched it again. when they first break into skynet did anyone see connor shine his light on marcus lay on a bunk type thing with blood in his arm? i could've sworn it was him.

Yeah I think he did - could have been he was "downloaded" into a new body, with his old one being so damaged (since he did look immaculate when he woke up in Skynet) - what we saw there was the old damaged body.

Otherwise it could have just been a poor random sucker who that their blood harvested for the T-800.

Never mind, we're thinking about two different parts of the film. :'(

I could have sworn I saw something very similar with Marcus towards the end though.
