When I first saw this, I thought Chris Walker had it in the bag.

thedamndest 01-14-2009 10:20 PM

My money is on Hogan, but yeah, I have never seen this.

LMAO

"Jumping Jim is out"

...."Did he jump out?"

thedamndest 01-14-2009 10:23 PM

So Destor, when you work a battle royal do you have some sort of guidelines as to how long you are supposed to stay in, or is it more like you get tired and then you find the guy who is supposed to eliminate you and tell him you've had enough for the night and then you go get a cold one?

Juan 01-14-2009 10:24 PM

Hey hey I'm here and I'm in

Destor 01-14-2009 10:25 PM

God Brian Knobbs sucks

No one is supposed to eliminate you for the most part unless it's part of an angle or the finish. It's just when you get bored have a guy get rid of you, or just don't counter one of his attempts.

redoneja 01-14-2009 10:27 PM

Wouldn't have guessed this as my final four.

Destor 01-14-2009 10:27 PM

The final four are pre-determined.

thedamndest 01-14-2009 10:28 PM

Do you have any way of knowing how long the thing has been going on?

Destor 01-14-2009 10:28 PM

usually.

redoneja 01-14-2009 10:28 PM

God, that crowd is hot.

Destor 01-14-2009 10:29 PM

Major whiffs from hogan

redoneja 01-14-2009 10:29 PM

Dunno why there is a ref in the ring now.

Jeritron 01-14-2009 10:30 PM

lol warlord

redoneja 01-14-2009 10:30 PM

Neither do the announcers apparently.

Destor 01-14-2009 10:31 PM

Hogan looked like shit in that

Jeritron 01-14-2009 10:32 PM

Well, I was right about Sid winning. Wrong about the run in or a Hogan/Flair mishap

Yea, just phoned it in. I recently watched a Hogan/Tatsumi Fujinami match from the early 90s and was pleasantly surprised to see how good it was.

"ROWDY RODDY PIPER IS UPSET BECAUSE RIGHT NOW HE SHOULD BE INTERCONTINENTAL AND WW"E" CHAMP!"

Destor 01-14-2009 10:35 PM

Not a bad battle royal though

Jeritron 01-14-2009 10:35 PM

Destor, is that match you suggested embeddable? Or should we just follow the link?

Destor 01-14-2009 10:37 PM

Jeritron 01-14-2009 10:39 PM

I saw that too, but it looked really short.

redoneja 01-14-2009 10:39 PM

I'm watching it now.

Jeritron 01-14-2009 10:39 PM

The file is waiting to dl, unless that youtube is the match

Jeritron 01-14-2009 10:40 PM

Destor 01-14-2009 10:40 PM

redoneja 01-14-2009 10:40 PM

Yea, its a sprint.

thedamndest 01-14-2009 10:40 PM

Taking awhile to d/l. Is that youtube the entire match?

redoneja 01-14-2009 10:41 PM

Yea, the Youtube is the entire match. It isn't very long at all.

Destor 01-14-2009 10:41 PM

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO puro action

Jeritron 01-14-2009 10:42 PM

lol that was one heavy back body drop

redoneja 01-14-2009 10:42 PM

I thought Akiyama would have been "the guy" by now, but both of his title reigns so far have been kinda flat.

Destor 01-14-2009 10:42 PM

thebell sounds for me

redoneja 01-14-2009 10:43 PM

I've got ab 5 min left in the match.

Destor 01-14-2009 10:45 PM

redoneja 01-14-2009 10:45 PM

Destor, have you seen the Kroffat/Furnas v Kobashi/Kikuchi match from '92?

redoneja 01-14-2009 10:46 PM

Possibly the hottest Japanese crowd I've ever seen. An immense amount of heat, and a good match to boot. You should look it up when you get the chance.

Ditch. Shouldn't be hard to find.

redoneja 01-14-2009 10:51 PM

If you guys want a long match, the KENTA/Marufuji match is on youtube, but that match goes for about an hour.

Jeritron 01-14-2009 10:51 PM

I think he hit a clothesline from hell man

redoneja 01-14-2009 10:52 PM

It's a good match though.

Tanahashi/Mutoh from a few days ago is up on youtube also, if you want to stick to puro. Epic match.

Who's up? Me? Or someone else? I have a random pick lined up, which I probably haven't seen since it was on tv so it might not be that good.

redoneja 01-14-2009 10:54 PM

Go for it Jeri.

Destor 01-14-2009 10:55 PM

Damn fine match so far

Destor 01-14-2009 10:55 PM

Jeritron 01-14-2009 10:57 PM

Pardon the killer

redoneja 01-14-2009 10:58 PM

The match we watched finished with Akiyama beating Mori with a standing front guillotine.

Jeritron 01-14-2009 10:58 PM

I guess it's got the promos and the buildup at the beginning. Whatever. Foley promos and the like

Did you get it from ditch? Cause the link you sent shows up with a filename Morishima v Rikio 08. The link I followed from ditch shows up as 2008.12.07 - Jun Akiyama vs. Tak..avi

Colonel DeBeers should never be forgotten.

Jeritron 01-14-2009 11:20 PM

That's your classic attitude era clusterfuck main event. Great though. I loved time periods like that where all of the fueds and angles, for the most part, were tied to eachother.
Similar to the winter before it as well.

Jeritron 01-14-2009 11:21 PM

lol at Welcome to the Jungle

Jeritron 01-14-2009 11:22 PM

wow. That's heat

redoneja 01-14-2009 11:22 PM

Yea, random theme for the DeBeers character.

redoneja 01-14-2009 11:23 PM

Sorry, there wasn't any actual wrestling in that clip, I just thought it was interesting. Not too many people know DeBeers or about his gimmick.

Jeritron 01-14-2009 11:23 PM

he got his way?!? Lol, wow

Jeritron 01-14-2009 11:24 PM

If you'd like, you can go again with another pick since nobody seems to be in here but us

redoneja 01-14-2009 11:25 PM

A little about Col DeBeers

Quote:

DeBeers feud with Snuka was notorious in that, even in an industry known for characters based on racial stereotypes, DeBeers overt racism was still shocking. DeBeers essentially refused to wrestle Snuka because he was not white. After a series of standoffs between the two, the feud was magnified after an injury angle where DeBeers interfered in a match with Snuka, throwing him off the top rope to the floor and delivering several piledrivers on the floor, resulting in a bloody and battered Snuka wheeled off on a stretcher. This led to a series of high-profile matches with Snuka.
DeBeers and Milliman competed in, quite possibly, one of the most infamous matches in the history of wrestling while in the AWA. In the company's dying months, the AWA created the Team Challenge Series (TCS) to try and attract more viewers. One of the matches in the TCS pitted DeBeers and Milliman in the Great American Turkey Hunt, a match where the object was to be the first to pull an uncooked turkey off of a pole tied to one corner of the ring. DeBeers was the first to grab the turkey, although the referee had been knocked out.

redoneja 01-14-2009 11:25 PM

If you want me to, I will. Give me a few to find something worthwhile though. Any suggestions?

It doesn't neccessarily need to be a match. It can be promos or segments too. I was thinking about setting up official directions and rules for the thread and trying to get a sticky for it.

redoneja 01-14-2009 11:27 PM

A follow up on Colonel DeBeers.

I think its a good idea. Although it wouldn't take place on TPWW directly, I think if you set up a chatroom for this then it would run smoother. Then you could get people to start watching at the same time and get immediate discussion.
