Shaggy 08-27-2009 02:03 AM

Been playing it for a little while now...

Love: Scarecrow.... freaky as hell but fun

Hate: The Controls....I find myself hitting the wrong buttons all the time for everything and it pisses me off...tons of times where Im gong to get the drop on someone only to hit the wrong button and for them to spot me.

Vietnamese Crippler 08-27-2009 02:09 AM

Loving the collectible audio tapes.

DAMN iNATOR 08-27-2009 03:48 AM

I honestly have no problem with the controls in the game, or really anything else so far. It's been quite an awesome experience for me so far.

Lord-Of-Darkness 08-27-2009 10:55 AM

Love this so far. Only got so far as getting outside. Gonna give it another go tonight.

Absolutly awesome. Agree with 450 though, no superhero game touches this at the moment

Disturbed316 08-27-2009 01:30 PM

Will be getting this tomorrow, but wont have a decent chance to play untill monday :(

Lord-Of-Darkness 08-27-2009 02:05 PM

YOU MAKE TIME DAMN YOU

Shaggy 08-27-2009 09:13 PM

Just beat it...

The controls still bother me but there is nothing more awesome than playing this game and going against like 20 bad guys at one time just jumping back and forth.

A few of the boss battles had very low difficulty and the shitty thing about me playing at one point I thought I almost screwed myself over near the end and couldnt get out of an area that I got to.

Definently as said already its one of the best if not the best superhero game so far...and interesting to see where this goes...

Has anyone whos been playing found any cool easter eggs? My two favorite little tidbits so far were..

SPOILER: show
When you are dealing with Scarecrow the first time and you are in the morgue you can find a pair of feet hanging out of one of the body lockers with a toe tag labeled Ras Al Ghul...when you leave and come back later the body is gone.

When you are in the prison you come across one of the cops (Cash I think) in his cell. If you scan the body you realize he has no bones. Once you go up and meet the warden and come back down its now the warden in the cell......and if you scan the hands on the door for a riddler trophy it reveals its Clayface.

HeartBreakMan2k 08-27-2009 09:17 PM

Absolutely loved the game ALTHOUGH
SPOILER: show
I did really, really feel as though the final bought with Joker was a huge let down, like it didn't seem hard, or epic enough.

Yea in all honesty the hardest fight for me in the whole game was
SPOILER: show
Titan Ivy...allthough I really didnt care for the Croc thing though and was getting pissed because that one event just took to long

FourFifty 08-28-2009 10:04 PM

My biggest problem with the game is....
SPOILER: show
the lack of super villains. I like how the put The Riddler in the game, but I'd rather fight a robot he created in the asylum with his genius. Or what about Two Face, or Mr. Freeze?
I understand they don't want to throw all their chips in one pile, because this leave room open for some kind of sequel. But just one more villain would be nice.
But on a good note, I LOVE the use of Scarecrow.

The Destroyer 08-29-2009 04:12 PM

Fantastic game, well worth the hype and wait.

Just would have been nice if a couple more of the classic villains actually appeared, but I suppose it could have easily become too crowded.

Disturbed316 08-29-2009 05:00 PM

Loving what I've gone through so far, only done about 4% though.

alvarado52 08-29-2009 05:11 PM

Fuck these challenges get hard as hell. I finally beat all the combat ones, and im ranked 21 overall in Sewer Bat Extreme and 19th overall in Rumble in the Jungle Extreme...im almost certain you have to be ranked in the top 30 just to actually gold those two, they are f'ing RIDICULOUS!

ClockShot 08-29-2009 09:46 PM

Sweet. Got all 240 riddler challenges.

So, anybody find #241?

are you talking about the last Arkham symbol? Go to where you left the warden and scan the floor.

Vietnamese Crippler 08-31-2009 06:34 AM

Whoo, beat the game with everything collected. What a helluva game, although I wish it was a little longer.

Tornado 08-31-2009 07:59 AM

Im just up to the 2nd scarecrow event, freaks the shit out of me.

Lord-Of-Darkness 08-31-2009 09:25 AM

Is there a chance to go back and look for secret stuff after the story? I'd hate to think I missed something and have to go through again

#BROKEN Hasney 08-31-2009 10:46 AM

Yeah, you just press on Continue Story and you're free-roaming around Arkham.

Disturbed316 08-31-2009 05:01 PM

Got pissed of with that fight with Bane, took about half an hour of dying before I beat him

Vietnamese Crippler 08-31-2009 05:19 PM

Relish it, the boss fights only get easier, IMO.

ClockShot 08-31-2009 06:46 PM

Just finished it. On to challenges.

Hopefully in the sequel, since they left it open after the credits, Rocksteady makes a huge Gotham City and drop alot of the villians in it.

Oh word? I thought that was a little on the easy side. :-\

Only got challenging when
SPOILER: show
all the goons drop in and try to run a train on you while Bane is literally acting like a freight train

Shaggy 09-01-2009 02:36 AM

One of my favorite things I loved doing was

SPOILER: show
At the end when you go to the party and Jokers crew is clapping at you. I loved walking into that second room and the room was lined up with people...and then just attacking them....it was a fun fight and you also get an achievement for it

DAMN iNATOR 09-01-2009 03:22 AM

I was only really disappointed with
SPOILER: show
The Joker boss battle at the end where he injects himself with the stuff he tried to poison Gotham City with via Gotham River before Bats goes and purifies the water supplies again, and becomes like a more dumb, immobile version of those guys that just plow right through you unless you Batarang them and take them down bit by bit. Freakin' only took me one play through, due to the fact that Joker lost 1/3 of his health after every time pulling him down, and they were stupid enough to regenerate the health bar every time, too. Had the last boss battle won in probably less than 10 mins. Fuckin' A...

Impeccable 09-05-2009 04:39 AM

Only about halfway through at the moment...can't really play it when the kids are up...this is one of the greatest games EVER!

Corporate CockSnogger 09-05-2009 09:26 AM

Finished it last night. Got every riddle except I couldn't find one set of teeth in the mansion. Pissed me off looking for them. Lending the game to a friend today though so if I will look for the last set of teeth when I get it back if I can be bothered.

Yeah, I finally found them all. You really have to look hard, you can't always hear them. I struggled to find out set of teeth for a long time in the Botanical Garden, only to find they were just in a corner and I couldn't hear them because of running water.

The teeth are in

SPOILER: show
the balcony in the wardens office. Just when you enter the wardens office, look up because there's a second balcony that you can go to

Disturbed316 09-08-2009 09:57 AM

Finished the story part yesterday, will be interesting to see what a sequal would entail. Loved every minute of it, gonna get on with the remaining riddles and challenges now.

ClockShot 09-08-2009 07:44 PM

Word around the 'net is that more DLC will be on the way on Sept. 17th. All I've heard is that it's free. Joker stuff may be going to 360, but it's being touted for both consoles. Maybe Scarecrow challenges to those who didn't pre-order wherever?

Disturbed316 09-09-2009 05:09 AM

I didn't pre-order but still got the Scarecrow challenge.

It's not a bug in the game's code, it's a bug in your moral code.

Owned.

Fignuts 09-11-2009 02:16 AM

lol

Disturbed316 09-11-2009 12:09 PM

Only got one silent preditor challenge to go before I've completed them, its the Silent Knight Extreme one, just cant seem to get all three.

Vietnamese Crippler 09-11-2009 02:16 PM

I think I did that one in like 12-15 minutes :o

The hardest one is probably the 3 for 3 which, I think, has to be done within the first 15 to 30 seconds of starting the level.

Disturbed316 09-11-2009 05:04 PM

Yeah I found three for three the hardest, but managed to do it after a couple of dummy runs. Now its just the combat challenges, haven't got higher than two bats, gonna take a lot of practise I think.

Vietnamese Crippler 09-11-2009 05:15 PM

I can't do Shock and Awe Extreme for the life of me; stupid time limit

Fignuts 09-11-2009 07:54 PM

Just finished the story mode. Such an absolutely amazing game. About as close to perfection as you can get. Really glad they delayed it now, because it was worth the wait, for whatever polish they had to put on it.

The stealth, melee combat, platforming, and boss sections are broken up so well, that the game never seems tedious at any point. Lots of replay value with all the challenges and riddler puzzles too. I wasn't dissapointed with the amount of major batman villains. I thought it was just fine how it was for the sake of the story. Leaves more for the sequel too.

Love all the little easter eggs too.

SPOILER: show
One of the prison cells' walls are covered with sheets from a calendar, indicating it was calendar man's cell.
[/QUOTE]

Disturbed316 09-12-2009 11:34 AM

That spoiler is one of the riddles incase you didn't know.

Fignuts 09-19-2009 05:23 PM

Free DLC is up. One is a new stealth map, the other is a new combat map.

The combat one is awesome, because it is an endless flow of guys to beat up.

Disturbed316 09-21-2009 08:19 AM

Cant stop doing the combat challenges, so addictive, yet the shock & awe ones are doing my head in!

According to the ticker, there is more free DLC on its way in 3 days time :y:

Fignuts 09-21-2009 11:08 AM

HOT

Lord-Of-Darkness 09-21-2009 03:55 PM

Don't know about 360, but PS3 has 2 free themes up. Batman and Joker. Both pretty sweet.

Funky Fly 09-21-2009 04:14 PM

360 got a villains theme, but for some reason it was the old style theme, pre NXE. I don't get why they still make themes like that. You can't use them on the NXE dashboard without them looking crap and you can't d/l the if you don't have NXE anyway.

ClockShot 09-23-2009 08:18 PM

Prey in the Darkness challenge map goes out tomorrow in North America

Sorry 360 owners, PS3 exclusive only.

Eddie 3:16 09-23-2009 10:48 PM

Not if your in the UK. It came out on Xbox Live today.

Disturbed316 09-24-2009 12:36 PM

Ooooh what does that consist of?

The Destroyer 09-24-2009 01:59 PM

Same as the last one, another combat map and another stealth map.

The combat one is back to the old wave style rather than the infinite enemies in the last DLC. The stealth is in the Abandoned Glasshouse.

Definitely worth it. You're in for a treat.

Disturbed316 10-01-2009 12:37 PM

Yeah, give it a play, you will get hooked on it.

G 10-03-2009 11:27 AM

Having a great time so far. I just locked up Harley. I think I might go back and collect all the Riddler challenges after I beat the story. Def not going for 100% though. Great game

The Scarecrow fights looked like something straight out of the Ghostbusters game.

Vietnamese Crippler 10-03-2009 05:29 PM

Getting 100% in the game is actually quite fun to do.

Disturbed316 10-05-2009 04:58 AM

I dont think i'll ever get 100% due to that piece of shit shock and awe maps

Vietnamese Crippler 10-05-2009 05:19 AM

I think I have to change my previous statement to "It's fun to TRY to get 100%."

I have to agree about Shock and Awe, particularly the extreme version

G 10-05-2009 08:22 AM

Found all 240 Riddler challenges. Not going for 100%, though. Looks like you really need to master those challenges for Gold. :-\

The key is using the combo move and breaking arms and legs to drop guys quickly in order to beat the time limit. I usually try and get my 6+ combo on the normal thugs, and once I get the combo move I'll use it on a guy with an electric baton or knives, trying to get them down and out first.

I am addicted to this game and will be trying the storyline on Hard mode as soon as I get the chance.

Vietnamese Crippler 10-05-2009 08:21 PM

That's my exact strategy, but things tend to fall apart for me for whatever reason after I use 3 or so takedowns because I think I run out of normal guys to attack to help build my combos.

G 10-05-2009 09:05 PM

I can't even imagine how that's going to be. There were 3 or 4 parts where I knew I wouldn't pass on hard. Hasknee beat it on hard, but he uses Game Genie.

Vietnamese Crippler 10-05-2009 09:15 PM

It's not that bad on hard once you go through normal.

It's hard at first because you don't have the warning system letting you know when the thugs are going to attack, but you'll get used to looking for the next guy who is going to attack.

Other than that plus the fact that the damage you can take decreases, it's pretty much the same.

Bad Company 10-06-2009 03:16 AM

Holy shit, this game is sweet.

Disturbed316 10-06-2009 09:47 AM

I went through on hard on my first play though, didn't find it that bad at all.

Verbose Minch 10-06-2009 06:55 PM

Hard isn't bad at all.

G 10-06-2009 07:03 PM

I cannot begin to tell you how happy I am for you guys.

RoXer 10-31-2009 06:46 PM

Were there any alternate endings? Or special scenes for getting all riddler trophies? Or the Arkham symbols?

SPOILER: show
As far as endings are concerned, they are random. You'll either get Croc, Scarecrow, or I think Poison Ivy grabbing the barrell of Titan juice at the end.

When you're about 5 riddles out from completing the riddler challenges, you get a message on screen that you traced the signal and the cops barge in and grab Riddler.

Arkham Chronicles, find them all and go back to the prison and go talk to Warden Sharpe.
