That's just how it is. The number of players would be too much for one server. The name is meaningless.

As far as the East/West coast distinction, that's more for guild activities. You wouldn't want to play on a West coast server if you're on the East coast because the times you play would likely be different from the other people on the server.

Seems like this game is about "getting the fuck" off this planet ASAP no matter what the planet is. I remember actually wanting to go to Tatoonine in KOTOR. WHat happened?

It's not just that. Don't mind bouncing around the planet doing side and heroic missions. It's just for me, don't know about everyone else who's playing, I feel like at the next main mission I'm about to get the son of a bitch, and instead they throw me another curve and I gotta work harder.

I think MMOs are like this in general.

Zones just get boring or uninteresting. I don't think it's a unique attribute to SWtOR.

1st DLC pack announced and is called "Rise of the Rakghouls" and has a release date of January 17. The update itself will patch the game to a 1.1 version, a new Flashpoint mission, and a new Objective mission.

Bioware also revealed why the high-res packs shown in trailers, screens, and the beta were taken away with their reason was them "causing severe performance issues, even on powerful PCs." Although they are still shown during cut scenes and dialogs due to only having a couple of characters to draw/show on a screen.

Bioware announced yesterday the 1.1 update has been delayed and it could be related to the recent 1.1 patch itself "breaking" parts of the game.

The official forums are full of complaints about the recent patch not actually fixing anything while there is a huge concern of a potential massive drop in user base once the free trail period ends. Bioware had promised earlier the content would be available well before the 30 days free trial ends.

I updated a couple hours ago. However, the new mission add-on only applies to high level players. And I am nowhere close to even touching that for quite a while.

Has anyone been playing this?

I played the free trial this weekend. I was having fun with the game, but when I hit the trial restrictions (can't talk to people, can't level tradeskills beyond a certain point, etc.), I quit.

Yeah I'm like a level 31 Jedi Knight. It's a pretty good game so far. I've been a little busy with Mass Effect for the week.

Doesn't seem to be available in my country :(

You can import it fine though and it will work.

Anyway, I played the 30 days free I got out the box and enjoyed it, just not in a "here take my money every month" enjoy.

Enjoyed every minute I played the trial, up until I couldn't continue on. They really should've made the trial level cap 20 or something. Didn't even get to finish the Sith Inquisitors prologue.

Edit: Nevermind, guess I did finish it, just couldn't advance any farther.

When my time with Mass Effect 3 is done, I will be returning to this.

Yes. WoW's "free trial to lvl20" has almost the exact same restrictions this one had.

Bioware might be planning to make their MMO game of Star Wars The Old Republic become a free-to-play game with the smaller goal of stopping the continual decline of the game's user base since its launch.

Started back up on this yesterday. My server is a ghost town and it isn't on the list for character transfer yet.

Sucks because I got 2 flashpoints and 2 heroics I gotta do. And there's nobody to do them with.

Turns out I was wrong in my predictions for this game's lifespan. I gave it far too much credit.

I think the problem is two fold; people's expectations vs something that didn't aim to stand out quite as much as it probably should. In the end it is an MMO in the Star Wars universe, something I know many people enjoy. And I'm sure it's great as a Star Wars product, but perhaps people need something more from an MMO to sustain them? This is a very particular genre of gaming, and we're in a particular era of gaming where name brands are losing their power and people are much more critical of what they are playing (one of the few positives of a more informed, cynical player base).

Now that people are hip to the fact that they are, essentially, playing the same games from ten years ago - games that does not have the longevity of classics from 20 years ago, things like 'Star Wars MMO' don't hold like it would have before hand. On all technical levels Old Republic is better than Galaxies, but Galaxies launched in a different time.

People ain't with that old shit anymore.

I enjoyed the hell out of the class stories. Would have played the hell out of it if it was a single player game, but I'm not subscribing.

Played last night and unlocked my legacy. Usually during that time it's busy. Now, I go to the Republic Fleet and I got the whole place to myself.

Gonna do another solo mission tonight, then try to make the transfer.

Transfered my character to a busier server. It's pre-determined so you really don't have a choice at the moment.

I've been impressed with out the game has improved since the server thing. My game is way less laggy and I've actually been able to play without the computer freaking out and overheating.

I'm on a server called Droogo's Pleasure Barge or something like that. I'm currently level 38 Jedi Knight named JonLucPicard. I'm on Hoth right now it's pretty cool to finally be in another planet from one of the movies.

Yeah. I ended up on Corellian Run this afternoon after my move. Got right into a flashpoint mission. Had to change my name, only thing that sucks about it.

I heard the game is going to credit people with some accommodations and a pet for transferring.

They are. But ONLY to specific servers.

Well, the new group finder feature has it's perks. But also it's weaknesses.

Yeah, but now it takes away the "looking for a group" tag. It was easier to find people on the planet that wanted to find a group that way.

Wish they would add an option to search for what specific mission people want to double team. Sometimes it's hard to find people who want to double team a specific quest.

Trailer released for HK-51 is awesome. Might have to drag my feet a little bit since you pick him up on Belsaris.

The Scavenger Hunt is up and running again.

got THE ITCH again after Star Wars hype etc etc. I reinstalled and picked up my Imperial Agent (Operative) again. There's been like 3 expansions since I've last played, and even though my account now is just a Preferred account I might resub for a month to unlock all the new content of the expansions. Don't see myself feasibly playing it regularly for a while but would be cool to finish some of the stories and crap. I feel the game is still really well done, with the main criticisms I'm reading being that the "MMO-type endgame" stuff is lacking, which I'm perfectly okay with never touching again thanks to burnout from WoW.

Playing the f2p style of the game though they really try to hammer the "SUBSCRIBE NOW" thing at every turn, which is annoying but I guess understandable

I never really finished the story with my SmugScoundrel. Although my rig needs a bit of an upgrade in the near future since it has a tendency to crash.

Did the flashpoints. But never got into the warzones or took on the planet bosses. I was scratching my head a bit when the game was barely on the market a week and players were at max level and gear. Kinda bothered me players were going non-stop with the game.

Loved this game when it came out. Could never find people to do the dungeons though.

I think you can do a lot of the flashpoints solo now... interested to do that. Game is still really fun. Hope I get a few weeks of enjoyment out of it

I downloaded the patch a few days ago but didn't turn it on yet. Got Battlefront on sale with Gold to get my star wars on.
