I looked for the show all weekend but missed it. Figures. Because I look for it, no luck. That's why I hate TV.
Get with the 21st century and download it.
Yeah, I always love when I remember around 1 or 2pm on Saturday that I can download a Doctor Who episode. Makes my saturdays for sure.

Hail BBC iPlayer!

:'(
Def picked up this week. Intense stuff at the end there.
Average apart from the ending I thought.
Geez and I was just starting to like the guy too figure i'd hate to be written off that way.
Enjoyed this weeks episode. While the monster of the week was somewhat uninteresting, the characters sure delivered well. Loved the change of pace in second half, showing Vincent his work in the future was touchingly sweet. Reminded me of a scene out of Scrubs or something; def hope to see more art directions like that in the future.
If felt awkwardly removed from the rest of the series and the ongoing storyline unless I missed something obvious...apart from when the Doctor called Van Gough 'Rory'. There was a lot of ginger people as well.
Van Gough had a terrible accent, but Bill Nighy saved it for me.
Didn't enjoy that episode. Felt like it was a giant wank over art rather than anything entertaining.
But Amy Pond was lovely as always.
Red-headed chicks > All others. Anyways, the 2-part season finale is coming up. Hopefully it won't descend into the RTD-tiresome-hyperbole of old. |
Can't believe no one else liked last episode like I did. Dunno I enjoyed the change of pace of it.
Hopefully the finale delivers well. |
That twat James Corden could very well ruin my enjoyment of this weekends episode!
Really looking forward to the final two episodes. If Moffatt can deliver something of the standard of the Angels two-parter it'll be a great end to a very good series. |
I dunno, the quality of the series seemed to go a bit downhill after the angels two-parter. But the new doctor has more than held his own against Tennant's legacy.
From an adventure standpoint I can understand why some did not enjoy this episode but I really like some of the dialogue in it this paricularly one stands out for some reason:
"Y'know sometimes winning... winning is no fun at all." -The Doctor |
Not a bad oul' episode and James Corden wasn't as distracting as i thought he would be.
Oh, and Matt Smith has already more than replaced David Tennant! The preview for next weeks episode was absolutely fantastic looking! |
I don't know who James Corden is so I wasn't distracted at all, really enjoyed this week, although i think the kissing greeting was a bit OTT - The doctor has been studying humans for 900 years, I'm sure he knows to shake hands when meeting someone new. Just that little thing annoyed me, otherwise a pretty solid episode.
And as you said, next week looks bloody good. |
Kind of agree with Downunder, for most part Doctor never seems to have troubles know what era he is in and acting normal for that era. Seemed like they tried to make him more quirky than he is with it all. Was a decent episode, another character driven one as opposed to focusing on the monster of the week.
This past episode was better than I thought it would be can't help but wonder who the pilot of the other Tardis was. The way they got out of the whole situation though could have been handled a bit differently. The next episode looks like it could be really great Daleks, Cyberman, Pandora's Box oh my!
Leave the hyperbole at the door, Moffat.
Gotta be honest, I'm absolutely loving this series. Matt Smith has been awesome.
Yeah, I have absolutely no complaints about Matt Smith. The first episode I expected to be thinking about David; but it never really happened at all. Matt seemed to be a fairly natural transition for me. More so than when David took over I think; though then I didn't have a long break between series 1 and 2 as watched it on DVD.
Enjoyed it back to building th main story around a solid episode although I think they could have left out the football bit. I guess it did build to something but I hate watching football in any kind of television programme or film because it is usually so lame. Next episode looks like it's going to be big.

holy shit

Also damn at having to wait a whole week until the next ep :(
Will Steven Moffatt now do what Russell T. Davies always failed to do.
Deliver on an incredible build-up. Absolutely amazing episode and i think there are bigger shocks to come. |
I think that must be the ultimate ending to the first part of a double bill. Yeah universe is gone...how will the Doctor get out of this one? Find out next week. I watched it on BBC iPlayer where they didn't show you a trailer for next week, did they on the main broadcast? It was actually better for me that I didn't see a trailer.
They never showed a trailer for the upcoming episode. Obviously they want to leave everyone in suspense.
Well, that was just a little bit special!
An absolutely brilliant finale to a fantastic series! Roll on the Christmas Special! |
Episode is taking FOREVER to download. Gonna ditch a work BBQ so can watch this though. Already rewatched last weeks episode today.
Enjoyed the episode, maybe not as much as I expected going in but still was a fan. Not a fan of shows that solve cliffhangers within 5 minutes of the next episode so started a bit rough for me I suppose. Def excited for more.
Meh. Was enjoyable, but would have preferred some twist or something.
Felt like it didn't make a great deal of sense at times. |

Liked the finale, although felt the set up was better than the pay off. |
The finale I though was rather good but the whole loophole of bringing him back was rather unique if not outlandish but still all in all it was as enjoyable. It was really nice to see the trio back together only to get back into the swing of things so it looks like there sticking together for another season at least. Now I'm already psyched to see the conclusion of the larger story arc as it hasn't really appeared to have truly ended ugh Christmas is way to far off dang it.
I wonder how long he was sitting on that something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue line. It was quite fantastic in a very simple way. I enjoyed the episode even more when I watched it again and to be honest I bet if you re-watched the series again that itself would be even better. The scene from the weeping angels that was shown as the Doctor on his rewind was quite amazing and you would have to be eagle eyed to notice that he was wearing a jacket while the other doctor who was there at that present time was not. What a fucking amazing series this was. Loved it.

I wonder if River Song may end up a companion for part of next season.
Just rewatched "Amy's Choice" seems really weird him "blowing up the Tardis" to get out of the dream, kinda wondering if that will have anything to do with the storyline or if it really was just a way to escape the dream/one off episode...
For those that are familiar with the classic show do you think it could be Omega that was behind it all?
Michael Gambon and Katherine Jenkins i the Christmas special.

Must just be the fan theory of the moment. |

Hope the Doctor doesn't let him drive the Tardis though! |
And in the press release for the Christmas Special they say its a reworking of a Christmas Carol!
Long as it's written by Moffatt it should be brilliant! |

I must be missing something here but I didn't hear a voice (other than The Doctor's) when they were in the TARDIS in that vid!?

Um cuz the vid I posted sounds like him but it could be a simple voiceover of the same actor so it could still very well be someone else like the names I stated.

Unfortunately unlike some of you lot, I've never considered simply downloading upcoming episodes, so I've been watching this series on a weekly basis on the BBC network instead. However, it hasn't been all bad since it has allowed me to re-watch the previous Doctor's adventures, and it's given me insight to how much the writers of this series have revamped their infamous character:
This new Doctor began the series with a slight case of amnesia, and as such lacks the universal all encompassing knowledge that the previous Doctor had. While it can be frustrating at times (particularly when it takes the Doctor practically the entire episode to figure out a solution), it does give a fresh take on the character, and in a way allows us the audience to experience certain things alongside the Doctor rather than simply being told a story. On the subject of interactions I also notice how this new Doctor seems to have more of a connection with humans. Even though David Tennant's Doctor did show compassion and even admiration for the human race, you could tell that their was always a distinct line between human and time lord. This is of course being said with the exception of that whole "DoctorDonna" arc, where that line obviously becomes blurred. Once again I suppose this is just the writers way of making the Doctor more relatable. I agree with XCaliber, the voice on that transmission does sound a lot like Davros, but with regards to the fact that the individual is somehow controlling the Tardis makes me lean more towards it being the Master. I actually think I'll forgo the expedience of the internet in favor of waiting a week for the finale, as it allows for more interesting theories and discussions such as this. |
Okay, I finally got around to watching the finale and really found it to be a bit Mad Hatterish. That is to say (as already commented on) it didn't make sense at some points, and even though it does somehow come together, I feel as though it was a bit rushed at the end. Like they could have done more with what they were building up to. Having a big name villain show up would have been nice, but I suppose the writers are leaving such an encounter for later in the series.
In the long run I enjoyed how it ended up and am looking forward to the next season. |
