You are right, but who cares? :-\

The Miz 03-23-2005 03:28 PM

Anybody gone to any Spring Training games? Thinking about taking a road trip down to Tucson this weekend to catch some Mariners games.

Supreme Olajuwon 03-23-2005 04:33 PM

No, sorry, I'm not made of money.

BCWWF 03-23-2005 06:21 PM

I haven't watched much spring training, personally I don't really like how they show it on tv, but if I had the chance to go down there and see it I would jump on it.

The offensive has been explosive, getting a lot of hits and a lot of runs. Even the bench has been doing some good hitting. The starters have been throwing tremendously, and even Victor Zambrano has been looking decent. The infield has been consistent with the defense, and the outfield has had very few errors. Most importantly, everyone seems to be in great health outside of Mike Cameron. However, just like last year, the biggest concern is the bullpen.

Braden Looper is set at closer, but the bridge to get to him will consist of Mike DeJean, Manny Aybar, Roberto Hernandez, Mike Matthews, Dae-Sung Koo, and Felix Heredia. Not only is that 3 lefties, but it's not even the best 'pen they could create with the guys they had in ST, IMO.

To say that I'm not worried about the 'pen would be a complete lie, but I don't think they'll be as horrible as everyone thinks they will be. Everyone seems to enjoy ripping the 'pen apart, but I think they'll prove everyone wrong and do a decent enough job.

Bottom Line: The Mets can and will get it done. Can't wait for the season to start.</font>

Don't really get why so many people are picking the A's last. Their pitching is lightyears ahead of the Rangers and Mariners and they have pretty solid lineup. The Rangers are pretty terrible.

YOUR Hero 04-03-2005 02:27 PM

Oakland could finish fourth in that division and be only 4-5 games from first.

Supreme Olajuwon 04-03-2005 02:47 PM

I wouldn't really say the Rangers are terrible. They do have the best infield in baseball.

Oh David. Young, naive David.

BCWWF 04-03-2005 06:06 PM

Personally, I think that the Mariners will end up last in the AL West. Sure, they added two huge bats to Ichiro and Bret Boone, but when your ace is Joel Piniero, no bat can save you.

BCWWF 04-03-2005 06:06 PM

I also can see the Red Sox missing the playoffs

House of Pancakes 04-04-2005 11:48 AM

as a yankee fan, i couldn't have been much more pleased with the way things went down last night.

randy for cy young, godzilla for mvp, jeter for batting title, a-rod for homerun title.

Joel Piniero, Jamie Moyer, Gil Meche, Bobby Madritsch, and Aaron Sele are why you should probably stab yourself.

The Cubs being on both ESPN2 and WGN while the Twins are supposed to be on ESPN2 is why I should stab myself.

Loose Cannon 04-04-2005 05:32 PM

How ya like Sexton BCWWF?

BCWWF 04-04-2005 06:13 PM

Brett Boone should be homering, then it wouldn't be SOO bad. Nobody is hitting, but as of this writing...Luis Rivas is batting 1.000 on the season  Also, Mauer is .500 with a SB, he is the only one amazing. Morneau is scaring me a bit though.

It is typical Radke to suck in the first inning and then tear it up, so no fear.

BTW, there is no reason why the Football thread should be ahead of this one at any time today, even if nothing is going on we have to keep this one at the top.

DaveWadding 04-04-2005 06:14 PM

Chros, you gonna make 10K tonight?

You forgot Ryan Franklyn.

Joel Piniero is a damn fine pitcher, btw.
