Shisen Kopf 03-18-2011 07:04 PM

WWE should start a new gimmick with that fucking Husky Harris and call him the gerbil. That would make GLAAD happy and gay

I hate Cena promos too but fuck GLAAD. WWE would openly mock them 10 years ago. Man I feel like a blast from the past. I feel for Cena here. Wish he could tell them to shut the fuck up. But not tell me to shut the fuck up

Lara Emily 03-18-2011 09:21 PM

MoFo 03-18-2011 09:57 PM

What does Fruity Pebbles even mean?

I wish I could understand these American references.

Xero 03-18-2011 10:02 PM

Cena has a rainbow of colored shirts, much like the rainbow seen in Fruity Pebbles.

Jeritron 03-18-2011 10:04 PM

At least Cena's entire career is color coded thus far

They should watch TNA..I thought that was what the whole "eliminate the hate" thing was for.

The name GLAAD disturbs me...........

Hope they don't ask impressionable people to put their Companion Cubes into an incinerator or anything like that.

And if the two are generally equated?

No, now it's the same BS about faggots.

Why do I have afeeling that despite all my disparaging gay comments, someone's going to call me PC in this thread before it's done?

I'm making a spoiler: CENA WINS
It's hard to cover up his homophobia....

Or something like that.

I love how you couldn't even follow your own line of thought beyond a single post.

Care to go beyond "it's a negative stereotype?" Because, well....duh.

Hey, remember when WWE got all that positive press for Billy and Chuck as positive gay stereotypes a week before their "wedding?"

Now you're just being an ass :p

that storyline was awful and was not a positive image at all

in fact it was abit of a mockery

plus I can't believe GLAAD actually thought it was real

I'm not the one who praised them for it.

yeah it's as if the media had no fucking idea that WWE and pro wrestling was a work

it's abit humorous that a group like GLAAD actually sent them a gift for the wedding

to me though that whole Billy and Chuck angle was a ripoff of Lenny and Lodi

...

my point was that being gay has nothing to do with masculinity or physical competency. it was sarcasm indicating that equating the two is for the archaic and dim-witted, and it doesn't entertain me at all.

there, it's all spelled out for you now.

Seth82 03-20-2011 01:12 PM

I think it'd be nice although it'd never happen if WWE put a positive spin on a gay character instead of them being portrayed as villains

Xero 03-20-2011 04:33 PM

Remember when TNA said they were bringing in a positive Bisexual character?

They were treating them as portrayed characters. Don't pretend they thought it was real. They just thought this would lead somewhere positive.

...Which pretty much everyone and their mother should have looked at, and said..."Wait, what?"

And yet, you still couldn't follow a simple question. :) Nice retcon, but no cigar.

It's not quite the same, but Vito managed to make the crossdressing gimmick work for him. And he had some nice responses. I don't know (and I doubt) if that was the intent, but still. He didn't suddenly become a mincing little girl, he was a guy who would kick your ass.

In a dress.

Billy and Chuck, likewise, got great responses right up to the wedding and the "swerve."

Of course, a serious intent on a conscious level, beyond say, lower midcard? Probably not.

But then, when you're watching something this homophobic, it should be no surprise. And that has nothing to do with Cena. Wrestling is so homoerotic it can only be aimed at insecure males.

this isn't the issue. it's portraying homosexuality as a weakness and something to be embarrassed about that is just so overdone.

The only way Cena can do "comedy" promos is with a bunch of bad gay jokes. Sad, yes. Offensive, no.

maybe not offensive to you since you're most likely straight

but alot of young people look up to CENA and since he says it well then they're gonna think it's ok to use those words

keep in mind there have been alot of gay teen suicides in the last several months

Theo Dious 03-23-2011 06:35 PM

GLAAD needs to go straight to hell. That is all.

And, to clarify, so does any organization that wets its pants every time someone hurts their stupid little feelings. This includes NOW, the NAACP, and anyone with the word "anti-defamation" in their name.

OMG. Were they related to Cena's promos?

It's tenuous to try and connect this stuff up with suicides because you're basically using the "TV/Video Games/movies/whatever makes you violent" argument, that the medium is actually dictating our behaviours and moralities. I know you're not referencing the kids themselves watching then killing themselves, but for there to be any sort of link, the reason has to be tied in somehow. Like, say, the people who bully them got their morality from WWE, the same way the Columbine guys "learned to kill" from Doom.

At best, you can argue it's poor taste, but I honestly doubt there's an increase in gay teens killing themselves, so it's not so much something new or shocking.

That's not to say "hur hur gay bashing is awesome." It's just saying "STFU with the Jack Thompson defense."
