lol Vince called the magazines crap.

Cool King 07-04-2011 10:57 PM

Wow, a Raw thread that's just barely two pages long. :(

Rollermacka 07-04-2011 11:03 PM

OH, somebody dropped another H Bomb...

Xero 07-04-2011 11:03 PM

I just can't take Cena seriously. Unless this is leading to a Cena/Vince storyline, it's absolutely stupid. Cena defending the heel is fucking retarded.

Savio 07-04-2011 11:05 PM

I love the Cena/CM Punk feud. Starting back from Nexus vs Cena.

I disagree Cenas character is supposed to be the morally right guy and would defend freedom of speech. He would also not want to back down from a challenge of someone who has beaten him numerous times before.

Unfortunately, this was a very borring episode. Probibly because there was no CP Munk

That was an excellent closing segment. This was the best Cena has been in a very long time, and it felt like I was watching '90s era McMahon. My only issue with it is that Cena was just fired eight months ago and it didn't even last 24 hours before he showed back up on Raw. Why should I put any faith in this stipulation? I'm definitely buying the show to see what happens, but the closing moments of that promo did the program more harm than good.

Overall, though, this is as emotionally-involved as I've been in a main event angle since the Nexus destroyed the ring last year.

Lock Jaw 07-04-2011 11:29 PM

All around great show tonight.

Ryder on RAW.
Ziggler actually getting to talk, and being good at it.

Cena was actually enjoyable and I enjoyed his segments a lot.

Not sure how I feel about the "fired" stipulation. For one, it did become a bit of a joke after the last time Cena was "fired". Feel like Cena's reply shoulda been "No Prob, Vince, I'll see you the next week anyways".

Secondly, it makes the likelihood of Cena winning even greater.

Although. Possible loophole. Vince did not say if Cena lost he is fired. He said if CM Punk leaves Chicago as champion, he will be fired. So perhaps they go the Punk wins, but then loses to the MitB winner route.

James Steele 07-05-2011 12:24 AM

While the MiTB Cash-In is the most likely (and easiest) route, I am really hoping for a vintage swerve and we get Corporate Punk. I think there is a lot of potential with this thing, and after watching the promo I am certifiably giddy about this. I hope they don't take the easy way out. There is a real chance here to re-invent Cena & Punk and make things infinitely more interesting in the RAW main event for the foreseeable future.

I was thinking, maybe have Punk win cleanly, and Cena hand him the title at the end. Before anything else happens, Vince comes out and demands the MitB winner come out and cash it in now to get the title away from Punk. Have it b Del Rio. Cena is pissed that Vince is trying to "screw over" Punk who just won, so Cena ends up costing Del Rio the match.

If they could squeeze the time in enough, I think it'd be interesting if they do the typical "cash-in" only for Punk to win and then have McMahon come out and demand the other MiTB winner come out and have Cena fuck it all up like you said. The only problem is a lot of people might think its BS for both MiTB to be used like that in one night, but it'd be different and probably make everybody want to see just what the fuck happens next. This PPV could deliver the shock value of when Vince said, "Screw you Austin, YOU'RE FIRED!" but hopefully we don't get CEO Cena. There is just so much potential and so many ways this can go that it is compelling. If CM Punk walks out WWE Champion and Vince fired John Cena for helping Punk walk out the WWE Champion, the wrestling world will be absolutely clueless as to what happens next.

Slightly different approach tonight:

Don't think it was as piped as you think. The last few times he appeared on TV, he's gotten some pops... even when he came out and Ziggler did commentary for him.

nice to hear them actually say how Daniel Bryan really got fired on tv though :o

I think he meant confiscated signs in general, not just recently about Ryder.

... and you mean "fired". I still maintain it was a PR work to begin with.

What was the first clue? The produced video package or the fact that Cole and King acknoledged his promo AND his suspension on-air?

On the subject of the obvious:

- I feel kinda awkward. Awhile ago, I made a comment about Cena saying something similar to what he said tonight, though it was trying to prove a point about NXT and Tough Enough. Partially, I used that as an example because I thought it was beyond the realm of reality that he would ever actually say something like that.

- +1 for acknoledging the Montreal Screwjob motivation without blatantly saying it.

- Also, another +1 for the stuff Punk has been allowed to do in his WWE tenure. Seriously, from silencing the "OVERRATED" chants from the crowd in his first match in WWECW and not being yanked off of TV because of them, to the golden material between him and Jeff Hardy, the SES, his commentary time, this angle... if "Zack Ryder is Jericho circa 1997"(?), Punk is King of the World Jericho when he was the undisputed champion.

OOPS! In the first spoiler tag, I quoted the wrong thing... and therefore, that's also the wrong pic. Sorry! Welp, don't feel like correcting it. The least I can do is edit and own up to my screw up. My bad.

Tazz Dan 07-05-2011 03:29 AM

Has anyone seen the Ryder video from Melbourne the other night? He got a HUGE pop from the crowd when he came out.

It's because CM Punk is suspended ONLY ON LIVE TV shows. But on live house show events that are NOT televised, he makes appearances. That's why.

Tom Guycott 07-05-2011 04:05 AM

That's because house shows generally "didn't happen". Only on rare occasions do they even publicly admit a title change. And I stress rare. If Ziggler lost the United States Championship later this week, he'll win it back at some point before next week's RAW airs. Whoever beat him was never champion, even though he carried the belt for a day or two.

Not on TV/never happened.

Aguakate 07-05-2011 04:16 AM

...This is a storyline where I have no idea what is going on, and I have no idea what's about to go on...

...which is kinda nice, for a change...WWE had become very predictable...it's like WWE all of a sudden turned up the voltage...I wonder if they have some new writer who's responsible for all this...

http://i51.tinypic.com/ncl2iv.jpg

...I don't know...someone who doesn't like to see the same things being done over and over...

http://i54.tinypic.com/2l91jsp.jpg

...someone who'd look at a guy like CM Punk, who hasn't been used to his full potential yet, and would go like "This is the guy who's going to become the next great superstar"...

http://i52.tinypic.com/5vylg8.jpg

...can't put my finger on it...I'm thinking of SOMEBODY, but I just can't remember...

Just watching a stream atm, the Zack Ryder bit was random.

Im in Perth, where you at man? Stream sucked so ill watch on youtube

Tazz Dan 07-05-2011 09:08 AM

Tassie. You should go have a beer with Downunder.

HBPunk 07-05-2011 09:18 AM

Not sure i know him? Anyway that was a great Raw even though it was taped, the spoilers didnt really spoil anything and the Vince/Cena confrontation was terrific. I cannot wait to see Raw next week just for the reaction from the crowd towards CM Punk. Im very excited about MITB and really anything could happen. The Chicago crowd is generally so hot and very anti-Cena. Its gonna be off the charts by the time the Punk vs Cena promo rolls pre-match

Testicle 07-05-2011 12:40 PM

The Cena / Vince stuff was terribly forced. Didn't come off well imo.

Volare 07-05-2011 12:57 PM

For once I enjoyed a tag match on RAW! imo one of the best RAW's this year, it actually seems to be making everyone interested again which is a nice change.

Hunch tells me there's gonna be a sweet swerve in this...just a guess not real info.

St. Jimmy 07-05-2011 02:09 PM

The McMahon/Cena promo was really fucking good. This should've been live, spoilers kicked this shows ass.
