That's a terrible idea. There are plenty of fights where it's clear who won and a draw would be just as stupid as the judges awarding a victory to the guy who got his ass kicked for most of the fight. Some of the greatest fights of all time were ones that went the distance and ended in a decision.

The WBO is reviewing the decision using a panel of international judges according to ESPN: http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id...manny-pacquiao

The ideal situation would be for the WBO to overrule the decision, give Manny the win and Arum to make Marquez/Pacquiao 4. All three of their previous fights have been close enough to go either way and it will draw more interest than seeing Pacquiao beat Bradley again. That would also free up Bradley to get his ass whooped by Mayweather in December or January.

The announcers even commented at how Pacquiao was essentially doing nothing for 2/3 of each round and then making a flurry at the end. It almost seemed like he was trying to keep Bradley in the fight. Then, to be as nonchalant as he was about it makes no sense. Pacquiao either cares so little about fighting these days that being screwed doesn't matter to him or jobbing to Bradley was his way of amicably splitting with Arum.

I doubt Pac was involved at all with the potential of the fight being rigged but also wouldn't be surprised if he was well aware of the fight possibly being fixed considering all the talk about a guaranteed rematch and a supposed poster showing a sequel was secretly done by Arum. The judges could have been paid off or just upset at Pac delaying the fight for a NBA game.

Him being a bit slow in the fight could have been related more to him really underestimating Bradley along with not doing warmups while watching the game and rushed a 15 minute warmup after the game was over.

You're probably right. Still makes me question his dedication and interest in boxing though. It's a championship fight against an undefeated challenger. How is watching a basketball game more important than properly preparing. With all the "Yes" men around him, couldn't he have found someone to DVR it for him? Hardcore fans do it all the time.

Funky Fly 06-15-2012 12:54 AM

I don't think you guys know the extent to which Filipino motherfuckers love basketball. They love that shit. More than Americans for sure. They love it more than soccer.

Nark Order 06-15-2012 02:18 PM

Yeah. But why does that matter? It's pretty fucking ridiculous to postpone a boxing match to watch a basketball game. No matter who you are. Culture be damned.

Funky Fly 06-15-2012 03:31 PM

Boxing just seems to be a quick way to make a buck if you can take a punch or negotiate back room deals these days. Manny probably sat to watch the game because ultimately he's made millions of dollars already, he's not really being challenged by most of his challengers and it does seem like something shady went down. I'm not saying it's not utterly ridiculous, I'm just saying it'd definitely be difficult to pull the guy away from the tv when the conference finals are going on.

Nark Order 06-15-2012 07:37 PM

I suppose, but where else could that even happen? If Anderson Silva told Dana White to postpone his fight so he could watch Soccer, Dana would kick him in the fucking nuts.

Funky Fly 06-16-2012 03:43 PM

That's because Dana White is the king of assholes and definitely would not put up with that kind of shit. He'd strip him of the title, fire him and have a title match 2 ppvs down the line.

Next Big Thing 06-16-2012 03:49 PM

I think it's more because that's a shitty and unprofessional thing to try to pull no matter who you are. Imagine that hell people would raise if Mayweather delayed a fight to finish watching a basketball game he bet on (he's a huge fan of gambling after all) or LeBron holding up game 3 because he wants to see the conclusion of the U.S. Open. It's ridiculous.

Jura 06-16-2012 04:18 PM

A match between two people is different than team sports though. With the latter there is always a little ruckus when it happens.

Of course it's ridiculous, but really what is anyone gonna do? He's taking advantage of a situation where if anyone tries to put their foot down, everyone loses.
