-   -   How would you feel if Tyson Kidd was WWE or World Champion? (https://www.tpwwforums.com/showthread.php?t=120151)

As I typed out those names, I realized how ridiculously fucking good a WWE cruiserweight division would be without them even needing to sign anyone else and just using the guys sitting on the roster not really doing anything.

Love Tyson Kidd. But, God no. Unless this company wants to turn into ROH and fold in a few months. Then no.

Wouldn't really give a damn as great as a wrestler her is he's not particularly that good on the mic and hasn't even proven himself as a minor champion yet.

Dear Guru Dave,

as one of the biggest Jack Swagger marks on this forum, even I can tell you that his reign was abysmal. The quality of matches was very watchable, but the crowd reaction was not there. Great Khali's reign might have been big in South Asia, but it still does not mean it was good. The rest of the world sat on their ass and waited for someone who could save them from boredom while Khali very slowly crawled his way through a championship reign.

Finally, I never was a big fan of The Miz, and his title reign did not change that fact. Miz had about two interesting matches in his 4-5 months reign (one with Morrison, the other one I don't even know. I'm just guessing he must have had another good match). Miz needs to understand that talking very slowly and repeating cliches do not make for an interesting promo. He sometimes showed flashes of greatness, like when he told the story of his way from being disrespected to being a champion, but otherwise, he was just coming across as Diet Chris Jericho.

Sincerely,

Kapoutman

You are correct. But I genuinely feel that Jack Swagger is given more shit than he deserves for his title reign. Khali was a horrible champion but helped bring in a new (huge) audience to the double double e. I have always been critical of The Miz but even I admit that his reign was interesting and entertaining.

put a mask on him. this is my answer to everything. and it's right.

In the right circumstances, I could buy it. For example: A heel Dolph Ziggler, as World Heavyweight Champion, is tearing down Bret "The Hitman" Hart -- who is doing a special guest spot -- in Calgary. Ziggler tells him that he is a nobody and his greatest achievement was getting beaten by Shawn Michaels. Bret slaps Dolph, so Dolph decides it's time to hurt Bret. Tyson Kidd runs in to protect his mentor from any attack, and Dolph accuses Hart of hiding behind his students. Dolph says that he could out-shine anything that came from Calgary any day of the week. So Bret challenges Dolph on behalf of Kidd, who has a smug look on his face like "Yeah, I know I can beat this guy." Dolph accepts the challenge and is then cleaned out effortlessly by Kidd.

The main event would be exactly what you expect between these two men, with Kidd fighting out from underneath Ziggler's heel tactics. Kidd manages to make a comeback, and it looks several times as if he's got the World Title in hand, but Ziggler keeps on fighting and then looks to put Kidd away with his own version of the Sharpshooter. Kidd manages to counter that and finally hooks in The Dungeon Lock. Dolph as nowhere to go, but Michael Cole refuses to accept that this could be it. Dolph does tap, however, and Kidd is the new World Heavyweight Champion! Kidd celebrating with Bret Hart in Calgary over someone who just tore their city to pieces would get over huge. Dolph would get his rematches, and make his excuses, and would probably eventually get the title back (let's say in a Ladder Match down the line with shenanigans), but it would be a nice little moment for Kidd.

Mr. Nerfect 07-20-2012 07:44 PM

At the moment, however, I feel that a mid-card title reign is far more appropriate for Kidd. I still haven't given up on my idea of a Tyson Kidd/Sin Cara tag team. Kidd is phenomenal in the ring, and could really help Sin Cara adapt to the new WWE style. Kidd does have a standing partnership with Justin Gabriel, though. Man, I'm just imagining a Tyson Kidd & Justin Gabriel vs. Rey Mysterio & Sin Cara match. That could really help Kidd, Gabriel & Sin Cara, actually.

Another option is for Daniel Bryan to win the Intercontinental Title from Christian in the coming weeks, and after dispatching of him a few more times, moves into a program with Kidd over the IC Title. Bryan has spoken up about Kidd being a misused talent, so would surely not mind working with him. Bryan is over as a character, and could really help put over Kidd.

The third option I'm thinking is Chris Jericho. A Jericho/Kidd tag team or rivalry would really help out Kidd. If Kidd can't get over while working with Jericho, then you'd get a clear indication that he's a mid-card guy at best for now. But who knows -- it could help transition Kidd onto bigger and better things.

Mr. Nerfect 07-20-2012 07:45 PM

Also, Jack Swagger's World Title reign was immensely entertaining. I don't understand the hatred for it. SmackDown was so good with its Ballroom Dancing Champion carrying the show.

Ultra Mantis 07-20-2012 08:03 PM

Swagger was quite entertaining as champion, most notably dragging Rey Mysterio through the entire arena by his ankle and his swaggie sandwich / sausage fingers trophy promo. The reason why the audience didn't give a shit was because he was jobbing to Santino in comedy segments directly before winning MITB and then became "slow talking heel in a suit #5" as soon as he cashed in. It didn't help that he won the belt off Jericho himself and Miz was balls deep into his poor mans Jericho gimmick over on Raw.

Mr. Nerfect 07-20-2012 11:02 PM

I still think that Swagger should have been the guy to have won Jesse Ventura's "Breakout Battle Royal" and become WWE Champion at TLC in 2009.

But Ultra Mantis is correct -- Swagger was de-pushed and was literally losing to Santino Marella every week. His win came out of nowhere. I also felt that Jericho being the one to drop the World Title to Swagger was weird. Wouldn't it have been more natural for Edge to have beaten Jericho and then Swagger to cash in on Edge? Swagger and Edge could have then feuded for a bit until Edge ended up changing shows.

I like indy wrestling and indy wrestlers and I don't get the love for Tyson Kidd. He's average at best.

Of course he is. He's an indie wrestler.
