Zombie is great, saw him live 2 years ago and he totally surprised me with how off the charts his set was.

drave 01-16-2013 02:03 PM

I think Rob Zombie's best work was with White Zombie. Not that his solo act is bad or anything, I just prefer the sound with White Zombie instead.

Disturbed has come a long way. They used to be awful live when they first hit it big, but the band as a whole is pretty damn good. I own all their albums except their latest release.

Drowning Pool, for me, was a one hit wonder. Bodies was great and the rest of their songs are pretty forgettable.

Heisenberg 01-16-2013 02:30 PM

Got to bask in the glory that is Dethklok last year on December 2nd in Austin, Texas.

One of the bands that played that night was All That Remains. They are worth a mention.

Lamb of God is also worthy of a listen or two.

The Condor 01-16-2013 02:33 PM

Saw Lamb of God about 5 years ago and was pumped but they were absolutely wretched. Same thing happened with Mastodon opening for Dragonforce and Slayer. Just disappointing for me because I was looking for a good show and they shit the bed.

Damn, I'm sorry to hear about that. Some bands that I've seen in concert recently that sounded great live were Trivium, Killswitch Engage, Dethklok(best), and Slayer.

I also had to sit through bands that were talked up by surrounding individuals in attendance and after the sets I would question their sanity and taste in music.

I'm going to the Mayhem Festival this year for the sole reason of seeing him for the first time. They are slow on confirming all of the bands, but he will suffice.

haven't had a chance to see the greatness of Dethklok yet. BTW love the avatar. Breaking Bad should have a Dethklok theme for the next season
Saw Lamb of God open for Metallica 3 years ago and was blown away. They are my 3rd fav band, even their stuff from "Burn The Priest" days is awesome.

Shitty man. I saw Mastodon, Killswitch, Sevendust AND Slayer at one of the many Jagermeister shows years back. All were solid, especially Killswitch. I think Mastodon's music, as great as it is, just doesn't translate well live. With some tuning though and less distortion, it could work.

Best band I have ever seen live, show wise, was Rammstein. They tore the fucking roof off.

The Condor 01-16-2013 04:48 PM

Best show I've seen has been Iron Maiden, followed by Metallica, GWAR and Danzig. A lot of the old guys are still able to bring it and I can only hope the new generation is able to do the same in the coming years.

I've seen Mastodon twice, thought they were pretty good both times. Also seen Rammstein twice and they are absolutely bloody fantastic. :y:

Municipal Waste is awesome. If you are into 80's thrash (Slayer, Anthrax, Metallica etc.) with a modern twist then you should be into them. Check out S.O.D. as well, if you haven't heard them already.

Heisenberg 03-04-2013 12:50 PM

Not really "metal" but I've been listening to alot of the Black Keys..

Heisenberg 03-04-2013 01:01 PM

anything to note from them? always lookin' for new music to put in the ol' database

Kris P Lettus 03-04-2013 01:17 PM

Well I absolutely adore "Baddest Man Alive" w/ RZA but I generally listen to them on pandora, so nothing particular..

PrettyCool 03-04-2013 02:29 PM

Korn is still the best metal band

Another great one.

Going to take heat and say that Follow The Leader had a good song on it, Got The Life.

My favorite Korn song, but that's not saying much because I'm really not too much of a fan.

Had a few good songs on it, if you have an eclectic ear :)

I enjoy Ice Cube too, and to hear them do a couple songs together was great.

Ice Cube had Korn on his War & Peace Album too, called "Fuck Dyin'" another good one.

the only things to please my earholes as of late consists of Lamb of God, Dethklok, Machine Head, Mastodon and of course Pantera.

I saw Machine Head perform, they have a rabid fan base, they were one of the openers back in December for the Dethklok show.

War & Peace is a fuckin' good Ice Cube album.

Drag The Waters has to be put in every playlist I have, or else I'm not doing my job in keeping Pantera alive.

I'm a huge fanboy of 90's rap/rock.. Specially the earlier shit like Public Enemy and Anthrax or Onyx and Biohazard..

Loud Rocks and the Judgement Night Soundtrack are both MUST HAVES for anyone who digs that type of music..

Kris P Lettus 03-05-2013 11:27 AM

This is my favorite "classic" (pre 1982??) Metal song..

Everybody Loves Sabbath.

The Destroyer 03-05-2013 02:22 PM

Everyone should love the Ozzy and Dio eras of Sabbath, anyway.

Kris P Lettus 03-05-2013 02:23 PM

as they should

Kris P Lettus 03-05-2013 02:24 PM

Ozzy Sabbath>Dio Sabbath

Dio solo>Dio Sabbath

Ozzy solo>Dio solo

:(

The Destroyer 03-05-2013 02:29 PM

I would honestly disagree. I prefer the Dio fronted Sabbath stuff to either his own or Ozzy's solo stuff.

Kris P Lettus 03-05-2013 02:55 PM

Dio Sabbath is good but I loved the campiness of Dio solo..

I am a huge Ozzy mark..

A friend of mine mentioned this but I don't follow LoG so I'm not sure what the deal is.

drave 03-06-2013 07:04 AM

He was accused of manslaughter after pushing a fan off stage. When the dude went down he cracked his head on the concrete and "got himself perished" (good quote there, you know which movie?)

He deserves a TON of respect for going through and dealing with the trial, whereas most people in his situation would have sent some super lawyers to do it for them.
