Another good episode. Really digging this show so far

KIRA 10-02-2014 08:22 PM

I have never disliked Bullock so thoroughly.

- Penguin is awesome

- Selina's eyes are freakishly far apart
- Some hammy acting, but solid nonetheless.

Oswald is definitely the highlight. I was struck this week by how much Selina looks like Michelle Pfeiffer. A younger, much more awkward Michelle Pfeiffer, but facially they're pretty similar.

Lock Jaw 10-02-2014 08:40 PM

Yeah, been thinking that ever since the first pics of her in the role came out.

DaveBrawl 10-03-2014 08:04 AM

Noticed that myself watching it last night.

Destor 10-04-2014 08:30 AM

just got caught up...so far im very underwhelmed. I'll give it till ep 6 but as it stands its very much on the bubble.

I feel the same way... except about Montoya. She just seems like an ass here.

But all things considered (especially to the detractors about Penguin not being fat), this islike, what, 15 years before Bruce goes all cape and cowl? That's a long time; time enough fo people to change into the characters we know.

But I will say Riddler seems a bit forced. He's not even in it much, but 2 eps in and he already annoys me.

Also, unrelated, and I'm sure it's just me, but Bullock and Fish's "relationship" reminds me of Officer Mace and Nightshade from that old cartoon C.O.P.S. and that is in no small way thanks to how they look.

JimmyMess 10-06-2014 09:17 PM

Finally was able to watch an episode as it happened. I thought it was another improvement from last week.

McLegend 10-06-2014 09:38 PM

It was pretty good.

Did anyone else hear the batman theme from the Dark Knight movies during the Barbara Keen/ Renee Montaya scene in the apartment?

Very possible I was hearing things.

JimmyMess 10-06-2014 09:48 PM

I didn't hear it. I'll watch tomorrow again for it.

Cuzziebro 10-07-2014 09:01 AM

Again another good episode. Could almost see Bruce's brain ticking over.

Mercenary 10-07-2014 09:06 AM

Bullock is great!

ClockShot 10-07-2014 06:21 PM

Watched the first episode today. Enjoyed it very much.

SPOILER: show
Had to laugh when I saw the ear plug in Penguin's ear. Pretty much knew the gunshot next to the head was coming.

Destor 10-07-2014 08:56 PM

This show is basically asking me to to be excited and go "oh hey I know that character from other mediums!" Like a live action where's waldo show. It fails to be compelling beyond that. Weather Balloon man? yeah, ok, that is in no way lame at all. im very interested. please tell me more.

I do like the subplot of Barbara and the lady cop.

VSG 10-07-2014 09:08 PM

Way better than Agents of Shield was at this time imo.

Destor 10-07-2014 09:20 PM

agents of shield was very terrible at this time, that of course has no relevance to gotham at all

VSG 10-07-2014 09:36 PM

Other than the possibility of things getting better once a show hits its groove. I can already see the improvement from over the few episodes so far, especially that ridiculous pilot.

Mutant enemy (the production company behind SHIELD) has a long history of adapting to the audience. So I was never too worried about it finding its niche (though I stopped watching it after 6 episodes and decided to wait for the DVD because it was unwatchable [it became excellent about ep 18 or so {yay blu ray!}])

Gotham however I dont know about their production crew. I dont know how perceptive they are. What I do know however is they had 22 episodes ordered and 12 were filmed before the first one aired so I cant expect any improvement (and their hasnt been any for me at least) until atleast after episode 12.

Im hopeful though that it will get better. Ep 2 was better than ep 1 but ep 3 was worse than the pilot (felt it was "holy shit" level bad monday.) Maybe it will improve, theyre working in decent subplots and once they let a few of them reach a boil (see: sweeps) maybe they will show their worth as writting staff but as of right this second the show is just a string of Easter eggs while a half brained plot barely moves along daring you to turn the channel.

Really strange in a show about Gotham before Batman and they have cell phones and shit. Isn't Gotham supposed to be the Roaring 20s when The Wayne's are alive? Looks like they want to do a prequel but don't really want to do a prequel.

Penguin is the man of the show so far. Can't get used to OC boy being Gordon. Gotham City here I come!

Do you make the same comments about Batman movies that quite obviously don't take place in the 20s?

The past looked like the past in Batman Begins.

You're not really supposed to know what time period Gotham exists in hence all the anachronistic tech, buildings clothes, cars etc.

A few things 1.The reason Alfred gives for not getting Bruce to a dr. is utter bullshit

2. Oswald should be deaf in one ear seeing as how Gordon fired right next to his head.

SlickyTrickyDamon 10-08-2014 11:25 PM

Oswald should have stayed outside of Gotham for longer. Seems like he was never really away almost.

Ruien 10-09-2014 08:52 AM

He is critical to furthering the plot.

What? It looked like the past because it was the past and it was a flashback. If this show is still on the air in 20 years, this will look like the past.

Simple Fan 10-13-2014 08:24 PM

Well I guess Gothem is a state.

VSG 10-13-2014 11:18 PM

Penguin

James Steele 10-22-2014 10:33 PM

I've enjoyed the show. I'm not a hardcore purist or anything to the batman story so I enjoy the ride.

Destor 10-23-2014 02:24 AM

solid ep, I hope the trend continues

KIRA 10-23-2014 08:35 PM

My god Penguin is the master of the long game, but the great thing is I feel so bad for him even when I'm reminded that his harmless facade is just that and he is in fact a murdering psycho. I'm also warming up to Bullock seemingly episode by episode.

Fish Mooney is a cool addition
And then the Joker is out there somewhere as it seems Gotham is becoming a hub for freaks and monsters even at this early stage....I love it all.

Lock Jaw 10-23-2014 09:02 PM

Penguin definitely playing the Game of Thrones

VSG 10-24-2014 04:07 PM

lol yeah Bullock has become one of my fav characters on the show now.

Kalyx triaD 10-27-2014 03:11 AM

Just got caught up to episode 5. Kinda surprised they went into one of the more fantastical elements of Batman's mythology. This show may have some legs yet. Penguin is certainly the highlight. Interesting remix with Montoya and Babs 1, but I guess it makes it more interesting.

You think Joker is in play? I figured after Heath Ledger that The Joker was shelved for a long time.

I love Fish so far. The organized crime part of Batman usually just ends up being something the Joker or the other main bad guys just take over. It's cool to see the inner workings before they become the bitch of the inmates of Arkham.

Lock Jaw 10-28-2014 12:38 AM

Hot episode tonight.... really enjoying this show greatly...

McLegend 10-28-2014 05:54 PM

Donal Logue was tremendous last night.

SlickyTrickyDamon 10-29-2014 05:07 AM

Really great insight for Bullock. I think he must see alot of himself in Gordon or what he used to be before Gotham turned him into what he is today. Probably why he's pissed off at him most of the time.
