So, if I were to pick it up at launch, do we get to keep our shit, or is this an excercise in futility, where everyone starts again at one unless they microtransaction themselves into a frenzy?

Enemy AI encounters are somewhat rare in the DZ from the Beta too. Maybe that will change with the full release? Primarily, the DZ is for "world PVP" if you will. Killing Rogue's nets you DZ Exp and DZ $$$$ to buy really good gear. However, when you are killed in the DZ you lose DZ Exp and $$$, and a shit ton more if you die while Rogue.

As far as being baited goes:

You get a few warnings advising that continuing to attack a non-hostile Agent will make you Rogue. If the guy was shooting you enough, he should have turned red (indicating he went rogue) and you can kill Rogue agents without being turned Rogue yourself.

There is also a timer for turning Rogue, in the instance of friendly fire (happens a lot around extraction points). When you first go Rogue, you have a timer (usually 20-30 seconds) and if you do not make any hostile moves against non-hostile agents, you will go back to being a non-hostile agent.

Definitely some tweaks they could make, but I would like to see how the DZ plays out with a higher population.

drave 02-01-2016 10:41 AM

I actually lost a DZ rank for dying as a Rogue last night. I mistakenly went Rogue when a PUG group I was a part of were Rogue hunting. Shot a friendly in an extraction zone which made me Rogue and was lit up quick by everyone around.

Next beta rumored to be occurring from February 16th till February 21st and be partially exclusive to the Xbox One.

Quote:

Ubisoft extended the Division closed beta for a day, but there may be hope yet if you wanted to get in. According to this post from the Xbox Italy Facebook account, Microsoft will host an event that's open to everyone from February 16-21.

The post has since been removed from said account, so it's looking like it has merit. The leak also teases EA Access "Play It First" programs for Unravel and Garden Warfare 2, as well as an "Xbox exclusive" beta for Homefront: The Revolution. According to the Division listing, the open session will have 24 hours of Xbox exclusivity.

Well, I was gonna jump on one last time. But with PSN has some issues right now. I think I'm done. Might have a shot to get in early before shutdown.

I'll be happy if they get another beta up. Maybe expand the map more and up the level cap.

Ubisoft announces the open beta test. Runs from February 19-21. Pre-load starts on the 16th.

New story mission will be included this time around.

drave 02-09-2016 03:12 PM

Already threw my money at a pre-order because I loved what I played/experienced and feel it can only be enhanced.

Tom Clancy bringing the pain. Looking towards the other game, forgot the name

The file size of Tom Clancy’s The Division on Xbox One has been revealed via a listing on the Xbox Store.

An update to the game’s Xbox Store listing reveals that the game will take up 32.3 GB of space on players’ hard drives, which is just 5 GB more than the closed beta client.

Yesterday, one of the game’s developers revealed that Xbox One and PlayStation 4 players will be able to disable particular lighting effects to improve the game’s framerate.
PS4 and PC version should be around the same size in terms of hard drive space needed.

Ghost Recon: Wildlands.

Haven't heard a peep about that game since E3. Yet I do have it preordered.

Fignuts 02-09-2016 06:51 PM

I've read some features on it and it looks super awesome. Probably one of my most anticipated games atm

#BROKEN Hasney 02-10-2016 03:25 AM

Glad for the open beta, gonna have to try it on the PC as if I can hit 60fps, I'm going that way.

Gonna really buckle in and grind this game over the open beta to make my final decision on it being a day 1 purchase or nah

drave 02-10-2016 02:50 PM

Some pretty promising updates there too, especially increased population in DZ.

ClockShot 02-10-2016 04:17 PM

Kinda hope they cut down gear extractions buy like 30 seconds and make them an even minute.

Totally nerve racking just waiting there hoping you don't get clipped when you got that nice purple gun in your stash you wanna get out. Pretty sure I'll get paranoid and start shooting neutral agents in due time.

drave 02-11-2016 05:35 AM

And everything you said after your first sentence is the point :P

ClockShot 02-12-2016 03:11 PM

Ubisoft released the some stats from the closed beta.

Yeah, I eventually figured that out (hardway), but the guy was taking pot shots and ducking. I didn't know he was a PC, as he was acting like the scattered AI I had encountered. I kept getting chip shots , so I shot back as one is apt to do. When I sniped his ass, of course, I went Rogue. Then, two more agents swooped in and started shooting the hell out of me. Basically, the one egged me into killing him so the others could bonus off of my ignorance.

The other trap is thr extraction point. There were quite a few times when there were multiple people at a chopper, and a group of about 3 would come in, X off everyone, and take all the loot for themselves... even when the point got swarmed with mooks we were trying to fend off. And you can't just get revenge, because by the time you respawn and get back to point of death, unless they're just being class A douchenozzles and racking up a multiple minute red timer or they're right by a spawn point (which they rarely are), they are no longer rogue and you just got screwed thrice (death, robbery, and no reciept).

You should get a revenge marker or something... kill the guy who just killed you. Or at least make the red timer last longer for the person who you just offed than everyone else.

As for AI encounters in DZ, I meant the encounters where you find loot to begin with. Once you find something, they seem to come out of the woodwork, especially at a ground-level extraction zone and particularly at night (in game). Don't know if the freaks coming out at night (thanks, Whodini) was intentional, or if it just happened to work out that way during my playthrough, but that seemed to be the pattern.

With all that said, I'll likely get this at some point. But for XBONE. And DZ won't see me very often.

Disturbed316 02-16-2016 10:33 PM

Open beta starts on the 18th, really tempted but I think I'll just wait for launch.

Kalyx triaD 02-17-2016 12:46 AM

Why?

Disturbed316 02-17-2016 01:08 AM

Main factor is the lack of time really and if progress doesn't transfer over I'd rather just wait for the final product.

Kalyx triaD 02-17-2016 10:00 AM

What if you buy something you don't ultimately like?

I can't think of any circumstance where I wouldn't try a beta or demo of a game I intended on buying. We all WISH more games offered access before taking our money. Do your future self a favor and verify.

$60 dude.

The Rogerer 02-17-2016 10:35 AM

If I hadn't played the Destiny beta I could have gone through those areas 490 times instead of 500.

drave 02-17-2016 11:24 AM

External HDD arriving today, just in time to re-install :)

You should definitely play the beta as much as you can. It will give you a feel for the new stuff, how it plays out, and IMPROVED DZ mechanics (if that is your thing, if it isn't I can see anyone skipping it).

They capped levels at 7 last time didn't they? Or maybe progression just dragged at that point, but it isn't a "lot of progress" to regain really.

Emperor Smeat 02-17-2016 05:49 PM

Some details regarding the upcoming beta for the game.

Quote:

Ubisoft has added some extra content to this, so it won't be the exact same as the beta from a few weeks ago. According to this trailer, there's an "exclusive open beta mission." It hasn't been said if this is the only difference, but the PvP Dark Zone has likely been tweaked. And, all those PC exploits have probably been addressed.

To save concern about pesky download times, The Division's open beta is available to pre-load on all platforms (PC, PS4, Xbox One). The file size looks to weigh in right under 25GB. For those who still have it installed from the previous beta, a new download isn't necessary; there will be a smaller patch to bring it up to date.

It's certainly a valid point, but that's the risk with the vast majority of console games now that demo's aren't as big as they used to be. But going by the premise I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

It's great they are giving players the opportunity to experience the game before launch, but I doubt I'll be taking advantage.

ClockShot 02-19-2016 05:04 PM

Data got wiped, gotta start all over again.

This happen to anyone else?

alvarado52 02-19-2016 08:54 PM

Pretty sure they started everyone over from the closed beta because I had to start over too.

Also, fuck every one of you motherfucks who go rogue during a drop.

drave 02-19-2016 11:39 PM

I got your back Alvarado - We should coordinate on this.

This is the problem with interesting multiplayer mechanics, the majority all act the same way. You get exceptions which is how we got all those DayZ stories, but everytime I played, some motherfucker just turns heel on you all the time.

Assasins Creed should have been my most fun multiplayer due to the design, but people just played run and stab.

ClockShot 02-20-2016 10:14 AM

Gotta get a bunch of buddies and run wolf pack. Everyone covers each other, and your mouth shut about your loot.

Wehttam 02-20-2016 10:18 AM

wasn't paying attention to anything last night during my first play. went straight into PvP and thought that was it for the beta. then realized there are some actual missions outside, so i went and did that. it was alright.

It causes paranoia though for sure. Ran with a group of buddies last night about 5 deep, and even though we watch each other's back, any person I saw hanging near a drop zone that DIDNT have a yellow loot package on his back I held in my crosshairs the entire time.

ClockShot 02-20-2016 05:39 PM

Sorta gotta change up how you speak now when you play this.

If you pick up that nice purple piece of gear, you can't go "Hell yeah! Got me a nice gun from that guy!" All your friends turn around and pump ya full of holes.

Now it's "Meh, blue kneepads. I'll shop around more, then check out." While saying to yourself "Sweet. Just keep my mouth shut."

ClockShot 02-20-2016 05:40 PM

I have noticed the weapon drop rates are much better now. Got my M16 back after rescuing a hostage.

Lock picks, however, are harder to find now.

Meh. I found exactly the opposite true. I have had shitty drops (rate good, but mostly sucky grey gear worse than I got already compared to last time. Even the cosmetic clothing drops have been pretty bad for me this go 'round) and found more lockpicks than I know what to do with this time around (though that spot you need one in MSG still seems to be a wasteful, contaminated deathtrap with no reward... maybe they're saving putting something good in that room for the final retail release.)

alvarado52 02-25-2016 04:46 AM

That was a fun, and slightly scary, little game.

So, on a side note, I decided what the hell and preordered the Gold Edition (game + season pass) on Amazon since they give 20% off to Prime members. Had enough fun with friends to really play this enough to invest.
